Chapter 99

“Wasn’t Celena shacking up with Liam? However, Liam had hit rock bottom and broke! How on earth could he afford a palace like this? Has Celena cozied up to some other rich tycoon?”

The Stone family, gawking at the grandeur of the manor, could not stop buzzing with gossip. They were gobsmacked. They had come ready to sneer at Celena, thinking she should count her lucky stars for getting back in with the Stones, and there she was, not just talking the talk but walking the walk!

Turns out, her digs were leagues above anything the Stones had! All content is © N0velDrama.Org.

Reginald took one look at the sprawling Jade Manor and felt a jolt of shock.

Cheryl, who was helping Reginald, and Anna Stone had eyes blazing with jealousy. Cheryl, in particular, was biting her lip so hard it might bleed, muttering, “Celena acting all poor and pitiful, but she’s holed up in this fancy estate! The nerve of that witch!”

Jealousy gnawed at her insides. Why did Celena get to live in such a grand and beautiful mansion and not her? Why did Celena always seem to have the better things in life? What was her secret?

Walter and Teresa shared a look that was both envious and icy.

They came to a halt at the manor’s entrance. In her striking red heels, Cheryl stepped forward with disdain and addressed the security guard, “Where’s Celena? Go tell her the Stones are here, and she’d better come out to welcome us, pronto!”

Her imperious tone was almost laughable, considering she was supposed to be there to apologize and make amends, yet she acted as if she owned the place.

The guard, without missing a beat, pressed his earpiece to alert the household. Within moments, he turned back to Cheryl and said, “Ms. Stone isn’t in. She’s gone shopping with Mr. Cole. You’ll need to wait.’

“What? Shopping? We come all this way to see her, and she dares to go shopping?!” Cheryl fumed.

Cheryl’s gasp cut through the air as she spun around, her eyes blazing as she faced Reginald. “Grandpa, can you believe Celena? She’s making a fool out of us! You’re here to see her, and she’s off shopping like we’re nothing. She doesn’t have a clue about decency!”

“You’re right. Celena’s just throwing shade our way. Let’s head back home. No point in sticking around for this disrespect,” another chimed in.

“Celena and Liam are just too full of themselves! Does Celena think she’s too good even for you now?”

Everyone expected Reginald to storm off, but instead, he stood his ground. “We’ll wait,” he declared firmly.

With the patriarch’s word as law, the rest of the Stone family fell silent, lining up at the manor’s entrance, a formidable sight. The Stone family, a good thirty of them, stood like a battalion at Jade Manor’s gates. Curious onlookers in passing cars slowed down, some even stopping to gawk at the scene.

A few recognized the Stones and wasted no time in snapping pictures, quickly sharing them online. Before long, the image of Reginald and his family waiting outside Jade Manor was the talk of Drunham City’s high society.

Half an hour passed, and the sun bore down mercilessly. The Stones, a united front, were then drenched in sweat under the relentless heat.
