My Mate and Brother's Betrayal

Chapter 63

63 Comeuppance (Part 2) Beckham POV

The blood pours steadily down his chest from the wounds caused by the cat of nine tails, but I can see his wolf is still trying to heal him, though the wolfsbane and silver are making it difficult. I walk back over to the table and grab a syringe filled with a yellow liquid I'm sure is straight wolfsbane.

A dose this big will surely kill his wolf. As I approach him, he starts to beg again. "Beck, please, just end this. I know I should never have hurt your brothers or supported your father's plan, but this is not you. You're not evil.” "You'd be surprised what changes a man. Watching the woman you love die right in front of you after she has just given birth to your first pup. Knowing that your brothers have suffered because you ran away instead of facing your demons. I'm not the man you once knew Corey. The man that was disgusted by torture even though he knew it was necessary."

I push the tip of the needle into his arm and suppress the plunger, giving him every last drop. A few seconds later, his eyes get big, and he starts to thrash. White foam runs from his mouth and his face turns purple. I take a step back and watch as his very soul is being torn apart. The chains that hold him in place are digging into his skin as his body continues to thrash.

After a few minutes, his body goes completely limp. The only thing that tells me he is still

alive is the rise and fall of his chest. I'm glad giving him enough wolfsbane to kill his wolf didn't kill him. I want the last thing he ever sees when he takes his final breath is me. I just

pray the goddess has a plan for this pr*ck in the afterlife. The sound of coughing and groaning brings me out of my thoughts.

When Corey finally manages to open his eyes, he looks completely defeated. I'm sure it's the

same way I looked the day that Deborah died. "I'd ask you how it feels to lose the other half of

your soul, but unfortunately, I already know. You, my father, and your worthless b**ch of a daughter took my first mate from me without remorse. My pup never got to know her mother because of your evilness. I lived with the guilt and feeling of failure until the goddess blessed

me with my second chance. She helped me to heal more than she will ever know, but part of

me needs to know that I avenged Deborah."

I walk back over to the table ready for this to be over. Needing to put all of this behind me. Needing to let go of the anger and hate, I hold in my heart for all the pain he and those two caused me. I grab a short dagger, feeling the weight of it in my hand. When I turn back toward Corey, his eyes meet mine with a look of defeat in them. He drops his gaze realizing what's

about to happen. I cross the room and place the blade on the left side of his neck. "I pray that

the pain you suffered today is paid to you a hundred times over by the goddess."

I drag the blade across his neck and drop it on the ground. I watch until the gurgling sounds

emanating from his throat stop, and I fall to my knees. The weight of my guilt and pain of the

past seems to wash away. I feel tears run down my cheeks as I finally feel free. A firm hand on my shoulder offers me silent support. I pull myself together and stand to my full height. "For what it's worth, Beckham, despite your mistakes, I'm proud of you. A man isn't judged by what

he does wrong. He's judged by what he does to make it right," Barrett says.

"Thank you for everything you've done, not only for me but for my brothers. I'm glad you were

here for them when I wasn't." "The goddess leads us where we need to be as long as we are

willing to listen, or at least that's what my niece tells me all the time," he says. His words make me damn near choke on my tongue. When my eyes meet his, he smiles. "She'll be here tomorrow with her mate and my package" he says, before he turns to leave the room.

Rosalyn POV

Emmett is driving and Stacey is in the passenger seat. Jayden and I are in the back seat. Four warriors are following in an SUV. Jayden is pretty quiet as we make the drive back to Charlie's house. Stacey talks about how much the pack has changed since she's been gone, but my

focus is on Jayden. I know he's still hurt by Beck's absence, but I feel like something more is bothering him right now. I wonder if he is feeling guilty for ending Waller. It's a hard thing to

take another's life even if they deserve it. "Jayden, are you alright?

He doesn't answer, and I wonder if he is talking to his wolf or if he is just that deep in thought. I wait a few seconds before I say his name again. He shakes his head before he finally turns to me with a smile. "Sorry, did you say something to me" he asks. "I asked if you're alright. I know today was a lot. If you want to talk about it, I'm here. I know you don't know me well yet,

but I'm a really good listener!"NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

"I promise I'm fine. I don't feel one bit bad about what I did. I knew that if Waller lived he would always be a threat to Jacob and the pack. Some people aren't redeemable. Waller and Corey are definitely on that list. I'm glad that Beck agreed,' he says. "I definitely agree that some people are beyond redemption. I wish I could say I didn't have experience in that department, but I do. I don't know if it's worse when it's your own family and mate that betrays you or not." Emmett gives me a look of support in the rear view mirror.

I'm hoping that sharing my past with Jayden will show him he can talk to me if he needs to. After I tell him about Bryce, Reese, Robert and my father, he looks disgusted. "Jeez, it makes what Beck did seem not so bad" he says with a chuckle. "No seriously, I'm sorry you had to go through all that, Rosalyn. I'll never understand wolves who want what was never meant to be

theirs. I'm glad that Beck found you. Despite everything that happened, I'm glad he's happy. I

can't wait to meet my niece."

"So if what happened with Waller wasn't bothering you, why were you so quiet earlier? I definitely got the feeling that something was troubling you."You aren't going to let this go, are you" he asks, but the smile never leaves his face. "Nope" I say. "Something isn't sitting right with me. Fredrick, the head warrior of the pack, was with me when we took Waller to the training field. When I shifted back he was nowhere to be found. I didn't think anything of it at the time," he says.

"He and I had been best friends since we were pups. When Corey took charge and I was demoted, he never helped me. No one reallxy helped me. The night, Waller broke my ribs and Barrett found us. Fredrick came to see me in the hospital. He offered to protect Jacob while I told Barrett what was really happening in the pack."

"It sounds like he wanted to help but maybe couldn't or was too afraid to." "You could be right, but the funny thing is, when Beck told me to bring warriors with us for protection, he was the first person I thought about bringing. When I tried to link him earlier, I couldn't even feel his

connection to the pack. It was like he wasn't even there, which doesn't make any sense. He was born and raised in our pack. Where could he have gone," he asks, but I don't think he is really asking me the question. "Do you think something could have happened to him? Do you want me to call Beck and have someone check where he stays?"""No, when we get back I'll check on him myself. Now I just want to focus on meeting my niece" he says. We drive twenty more minutes before we reach Charlie's house. As soon as I step out of the SUV, the front door of the house bangs open and Lily comes bouncing out. "Mommy" she squeals before she throws herself in my arms.

"Hey my Lily bear. I've missed you. Are you ready to go see daddy?"Yes, I missed daddy too," she says. After she hugs Stacey and Emmett, she comes back to stand next to me. "Lily, I have someone I would like you to meet." I smile when I notice how nervous Jayden looks. He bends down so he is eye level with her. "Lily, this is your Uncle Jayden. He is your daddy's

brother."

She looks up at me with excitement in her eyes. "I have another uncle" she asks in her sweet little voice. "Yes, you do, and he has been so excited to meet you'l say. She turns and launches herself at Jayden, knocking him onto his butt. His laugh is contagious as we watch him hug his niece for the first time. The squeaking of the door has me turning in time to see Colton and Samantha stepping onto the porch. Even though I've only known about them for a short time, I've missed them.

I'm not sure if my mom and Charlie plan to join the Blue Crescent pack, but I'm hoping they 3/4

will. I've already missed so much time with my sister and brother. Besides, I can't imagine being hours away from my mom and Charlie. Then again, I'm not sure if he will be willing to close the bakery. Whatever they decide, I'll support them, but the selfish part of me wants them all to be close. I make my way onto the porch and pull them both in for a hug. I focus on the here and now, instead of what tomorrow might bring.
