My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0326

Chapter 0326

Alex slowly raised his gaze, his deep, dark eyes stopping on her.

Sonia felt her heart skip a beat when she heard Alex's emotionless voice. "Was what you said to Sawyer true?"

Sonia's footsteps halted. Disappointment flashed in her eyes, but she nodded obediently. "Yes, Xavier told me personally when he was drunk."

Alex's eyes were like deep, still pools without a hint of ripple. He appeared calm on the surface but no one knew what he was thinking.

Sonia gritted her teeth, wanting to step forward. "Lex, I really can explain what happened. Can you stop being angry with me?"

Alex raised a brow, the chill in his expression evident. "Why do you think I did not sue you?"

Sonia's eyes reflected her sense of loss. "What?"

Alex threw the pen in his hand onto the table with an ice-cold expression. "Stealing trade secrets. Just this alone is enough to ensure that you can't escape the court."

Sonia's expression paled. She knew what Alex said was true, and she understood Alex's meaning. Alex had kept her merely for Aether’s sake.

When Sawyer had contacted her that day, Sonia was secretly delighted, thinking that Alex could not bear to part with her.

But now, seeing how cold Alex looked, she realized Alex had kept her because she was still useful.

She had apologized but he was still treating her so coldly. She felt disgruntled. His treatment was unjustified and she wasn’t going to give in. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Suppressing the bitterness in her heart, Sonia sounded hoarse as she spoke. "Lex, do you have to be so cruel? I have been admitting my mistakes to you for the past few days. Why aren't you willing to forgive me? Do you really not care for our previous feelings anymore? You clearly used to like me so much."

Sonia originally came intentionally appearing pitiful and weak. Now that she was crying, she looked like a great beauty in distress. She stared at Alex, hoping that she could find a hint of tenderness on his face.

In Alex's dark pupils, there was no sign of emotion. He did not even glance at her. He just said expressionlessly. "There are some things I don't want to say a second time."

Sonia's face turned ashen, and she couldn’t help but ask, dazed, "If it were her, would you still act the same way?"

Alex's fingertips moved slightly, and his cold gaze returned to Sonia. His tone was indifferent. "Do you have any right to question me now?"

Sonia's heart completely sank. She looked at Alex, tears falling one after another, looking pitiful.

Sonia left Aether in less than five minutes. She had just walked out when the company was in a furore.

Candice’s phone chimed as Kayla's message arrived.

"Sonia came to the company again. When she left, she was still crying. I reckon she came to put on a pity act to try and win back Mr. Elysian."

When Candice saw the message, she did not show any expression. No wonder they said children who cried got candy. The moment Sonia cried, Alex was really willing to protect her no matter what.

Candice thought about Jackson's words and her heart was as calm as a still pool.

Kayla sent another message, but Candice did not look at it. She sat in the living room and went into a daze.

It was only when a cup of water was placed on the coffee table in front of her that the light tap called her back to reality.

Candice looked up and saw Hanley. She was slightly stunned. "Why are you back?"

"My brother-in-law is handling everything over at the hospital, so I came back first. What were you thinking about?” he asked. “You were so out of it."

Candice lowered her gaze, not responding.

Hanley didn’t push her either. Instead, he got up. "Some matters are not meant to be suppressed. When you want to talk about it, you can seek me out any time."
