Chapter 14

Sonia looked down and shyly said, “That’s not what I meant!”

The other people in the room laughed and said, “Alex, you really look like a hen- pecked husband now.”

Alex laughed frivolously. His deep eyes then stared at Sonia and said casually, ” She’s still a girl, I have to take good care of her.”

Roars of laughter filled the room again.

Then, someone said, “I thought Candice was Alex’s type.” This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

The random question silenced the room immediately.

Sonia’s smile froze. She bit her lips and looked at Alex.

Alex’s expression remained unfazed, looking as frivolous as before. His eyes slightly narrowed as he said calmly, “She was never my type. It was she who insisted on following me around.”

Then, the guy who asked the question immediately echoed, “I know right. We have never seen Alex change his number for any woman. Girl, you are the one and only!”

Alex frowned. “Who are you calling ‘girl‘? Don’t try anything funny.”

The group of friends laughed and joked for a while before someone said, “Oh, Alex. Did you know Jackson is back? He’s coming as well.”

Sonia was curious and asked Alex, “Who is Jackson?”

Alex simply said, “Just a friend.”

Sonia hummed a reply like the obedient girl she was. She moved back to her seat. If she was right, when Alex referred to Jackson as “friend“, his expression did not look too friendly.

Sonia had perfected the art of appearing as a good girl in the eyes of others over the years.

When she glanced at Alex, her heart would race.

Considering her status and background, she was not a match for Alex, especially with an almost perfect woman like Candice by his side.

However, the thought of Alex not fancying Candice and yet Candice insisting on following him gave Sonia a sense of superiority.

+15 BONOS

No matter how capable Candice was, Alex did not like her. He liked Sonia.

He even changed his personal number because she disliked it and he shared it with everyone but Candice.

While Sonia reveled in her own delight, the person she had the lowest regard for entered.

Candice had a long coat on and there was a tall man behind her.

Sonia then heard the other guys call the man’s name. “Jackson Shyan!”

Jackson looked humble, polite, and knowledgeable. He radiated elegance and gentleness, all while looking stunning when he smiled.

Sonia looked at Alex and she spotted the furrowed brows on his face. Alex was looking at Candice.

The girl tugged his sleeve and whispered, “Alex, I’m thirsty. Can you get me a glass of water?”

Alex regained his composure and Candice looked in the same direction where she met Sonia’s gaze.

Sonia was stunned. She forced an innocent smile and nodded in greeting.

Candice nodded back at her and sat down.

The other guys were close with Jackson. After their pleasantries, one of them asked, “Jackson, how come you’re here with Candice?”

Candice was not informed of their recent parties, during which they had been badmouthing her, so it was rather awkward.

Jackson smiled gently and said, “I ran into Candice on the way here when her car broke down, so I gave her a lift.”

“Is that so? What a coincidence.”

Alex poured a glass of wine and pushed it to Jackson. He said indifferently, “Have some?”

Jackson pushed it back subtly and said, “No, thanks. Since Candice’s car broke down, I have to drive her home later.”
