Chapter 2114
Chapter 2114
"You're right, she did a pretty good job. She's growing up and has the right to choose how she wants to live." I said while I picked the side dishes from the table.
"That's not what I meant." Hendrix took a deep breath and stared at me. "I mean, do you like that place?"
"Hmm?" I was stunned for a second, then laughed, "What does it matter if I like it or not? It's such a big project. It's not like you could abandon the whole project just because I don't like it."
"Why not?" Wait, he was serious about that? "I could spend billions of dollars, but it would mean nothing if my dear wife doesn't like it. If she doesn't, why should I keep it then?"
Even though I was not in the mood for jokes, I could not help but laugh. "What has gotten into you? You've been so corny these days. Aren't you sick of it!?"
"Nope, I still think there's space for more of that corniness. It'll be best if you could stop hanging out with Freya and the others so much and just keep me company, so I can tell you how much I love you and need you whenever I want," Hendrix stated with a straight face.
I was at a loss for words.
I thought he used to be a man of little words.
As we fell silent, Aaron's roguish ingratiating voice drifted in from the outside. "Baby, honey, my dear wife, can we have another daughter? Just one more. I really like having a daughter. Pretty please..."
I was not having it as I placed my palm on my forehead. I looked at Hendrix. It seemed like he was not having it either. Hendrix shot a glance at Aaron and straightened his back, showing his elevated status and authority.
I couldn't imagine how these two clingy men would be when they finally returned to their families. I shook my head and chased off the image from my mind, raising my voice to say, "I love it. I love the people, and the things they sell. Everything's just great. Anne mentioned that there's going to be 99 pairs of newlyweds having their wedding in western costumes on the opening day. That itself is already exciting enough, not to mention the other activities."
Out of the blue, the flawless phoenix cor came to mind. I was excited to tell Hendrix about it, but on second thought, he was so lovey-dovey those days that he
would literally leave to purchase

the middle of the night and surprise me with it the next morning. So, I swallowed my words and pursed my lips together to seal them up before I let the cat out of the bag, snickering to myself.
He noticed the expressions on my face. He tried to read them, but did not ask further like he usually would. I noticed him lifting the corner of his lips as he turned to leave the kitchen, leaving me dumbfounded for a couple of seconds.
I was probably overthinking things. He was still the Hendrix I knew, the unpredictable Hendrix.
Finally, the day of the opening ceremony of the Cultural City arrived. Everyone in town had their eyes on the ceremony.
Since it was Anne's first project she
was fully in charge of, I planned to bring the entire family along to show her support. Unfortunately, the kids had a group performance in school, so they couldn't skip school,NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

whereas Hendrix had a meeting with a business partner that couldn't be rescheduled. In the end, the
ceremony attendees were only
made up of Freya, Aaron, Emma and
I.
As soon as we got off the car, we were shocked by the arrangement of the scene.
Lanterns hung across the city walls, flowers spread along the paths, paintings scattered all around the city, intricate embroideries with little embellishments here and there. From where we stood, it looked like a never-ending path that extended beyond.
Everything looked like it came straight out of a movie scene.
It was impossible not to imagine myself in a wonderland, dressed in the bridal dress and sabot with the cor over my head. Every path was covered in flower petals.
"Hey, what's on your mind? The ceremony is about to start. We're here as special guests, so we can't be late."
Freya's words pulled me back to reality. After collecting myself, we headed to the city tower.
The opening ceremony was a success. Anne stood in front of the crowd with a microphone in hand, "Welcome to the Cultural City Festival hosted by the Roberts Group. We are pleased to see everyone here. Please have fun and enjoy yourselves as much as possible. Thank you."
Anne handed the microphone over
to the host, who went on to say, "The daughter of the Roberts Group is indeed extraordinary. This moment right now reminds me of a poem Her temperament is as beautiful as an orchid, her talent as great as a fairy. Our Miss Moanna is the fairy. However, how can there be only one fairy in such a grand festival like this? Now without further ado, let's welcome our 99 pairs of newlyweds!"
Fireworks went off as the drums pounded.
