Chapter 2203
Chapter 2203
The maid didn't dare to respond. She looked at me and Hendrix, confused. Upon seeing that we didn't intend to say anything, she fled towards the kitchen while saying, "Please wait a moment."
Not long after, the servants had set up their chairs and utensils. Jordan and Naomi walked over and sat down across from me.
Even though Jordan had called us a family, anyone could see just how odd things were.
Ever since Jordan and the rest had barged into our home, Hendrix had a face that clearly showed just how unwelcome all of them were.
Quinn was the first to notice that something was wrong. As the saying went, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Upon realizing that, he raised his glass and introduced himself to Jordan. "Sir, I'm Mrs. Roberts' good friend and since you're a member of his family, thank you for your hospitality. We are in your care."
What good could happen when wolves gathered? If the two of them got along, who knows just how much trouble they could cause us in the future?
What could we do then? We didn't know any of Jordan's weaknesses and we couldn't wipe out their entire gang. All we could do was watch as these two formed their alliance.
Contrary to everyone's expectations, Jordan ignored Quinn's goodwill as though he hadn't heard him. He sipped the fine wine in his goblet, looking completely out of place.
Even Hendrix couldn't resist doing a double take at him. He was still trying to guess what he was up to.
Quinn awkwardly held his hand up for five whole seconds. The smile on his face gradually fell. He then withdrew his hand gloomily.
He didn't hold back on his anger at all. He slammed the glass on the table with a loud bang. The red wine in the cup spilled out, representing how dissatisfied he was.
Andrea had spent much of her life being a socialite, so she was much more perceptive in noticing a person's mood. Noticing how upset Quinn was, she quickly acted to appease him. "Mr. Quinn, I'll drink a toast to you. You must drink with those who appreciate wine as you do, otherwise it's no different than drinking plain water. Don't you think so? Come on. Cheers!"
With that, Quinn relaxed.
Even then, Jordan still turned a blind eye to them. After drinking half of his wine, he calmly placed his glass on the table and started chatting
with Hendrix, "New Year's Eve is
such a nice day. We should get rid of the old, welcome the new and meet up, with our friends. Hendrix, did you know I met an old friend today? What a coincidence!"
Hendrix squinted and calmly observed him. He didn't say anything but his entire being was glowering with his dignified aura.
Such an oppressive aura was enough to cause the people around him to rethink they things they had wanted to say.
This, however, obviously didn't work on Jordan.
Feigning innocence, he then continued, "Hendrix, I assume you'd also like to meet with this old friend of mine, yes?"
"Who is it? wasn't going to let him
beat around the bush. There were far too many uninvited guests today. I didn't want to see any of these people, so I had to sort everything out right away.
Jordan smirked. He pressed the tip of the glass on his nose. His smile deepened.
Hethen curled his lips up into a
on
meaningful smile. He then looked at the "Come in Arianna, let bygones be bygones!"
r and said loudly,ones!"
Let bygones be bygones?
Was it an old enemy of mine?
I looked at the door, bewildered. After some time, an old man in plain clothes walked into the room.
He stood at the door cautiously. He seemed very uneasy, his was avoiding eye contact. He then mumbled, "Ma... Madam how are you?"
"You know me?" I pointed at myself. I had no idea what was going on.
Andrea, however, seemed to have thought of something as she carefully sized him up. "Have we met before?"Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
