Chapter 2229
Chapter 2229
When Hendrix noticed that I wasn't bothering him anymore, he relaxed and poured himself some tea. He glanced at the folder in my hand and casually asked, "What's that?"
Aaron went ahead and explained on my behalf, "Information on when they investigated Andrea's pregnancy from a long time ago."
I took some of the documents out from the folder. Hendrix then quickly placed his tea cup down on the table and snatched the documents from my hands.
I held onto the documents, which got split into two when neither of us was willing to let go. The folder had also torn in half along the edge.
I was so close to finding out the truth. I stood behind Aaron just in case Hendrix would snatch the other half of the documents from me. I started to read whatever was on this side of the paper that I was holding.
"Arianna." Hendrix called to me heavily, almost as though to warn me.
Aaron always sided with me however, so he stopped him. "Hey, what's in there that can't be discussed, huh? You are overreacting over a document. What if Arianna asks you for something else next time?"
Hendrix ignored him and tried to push him away to snatch the document from me.
Aaron had thought that he could scare Hendrix off with that question, but it did more harm than good. Seeing him triggered, Aaron wasn't willing to back down either. The two of them started pushing and staring each other down with anger in their eyes.
While they were at each other's necks, I had enough time to catch the most crucial bit of information on the paper.
"Person appointed for this case: Agustin Luther."
Agustin, Mr. Luther, they were the same person.
It was the truth that I had never wanted to admit. I stared at the documents, frozen in place. I didn't know how to react.
Andrea really had been my scapegoat.
Back then, Agustin hated Hendrix for being such a disgrace, gobbling up the family business. He was so furious that he got involved with gangsters and tried to take revenge on him by humiliating me.
But at that time, our marriage was in jeopardy. We were barely holding on together. The public barely knew that the wife of this powerful CEO was the most disliked director in the entire company.
On the contrary, Andrea had
followed Hendrix like a shadow day

in and day out. So those gangsters mistook Andrea as their target instead of me. They weren't even secretive about the things that they had done to her. They had left her bare naked on the streets, after.
It wasn't stated in the documents how she was rescued, but she was clearly the victim here. She was the one that had to endure all that criticism. If it were me, I would probably have died a long time ago.
What should I do? The woman that I have looked down on, was the person that helped me escape all those bad things that were supposed to happen to me.
No wonder Andrea said that I had stolen everything from her.

If I was the one to have experienced that incident, kmight have gone mad, or maybe I would have moved to someplace where no one knew me and then leave this world one day without anyone ever knowing... No matter what, without her would never have been able to be in the position I was in right now, being pampered in Hendrix's arms with my own children, living the dream life that everyone was jealous of.
Hendrix and Aaron stopped when they noticed that I wasn't saying anything.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Aaron came over and tapped me on the shoulder. "Are you okay?"
Hendrix then said, his tone heavy and subdued, "There's no good knowing this."
I then realized something right then. I turned to Hendrix and confirmed my guess from his hurtful gaze.
He had known about this from the very beginning.
He knew that those people were coming after me and he also knew that they had mistook Andrea for me.
