Chapter 41
He struggled to backpedal, “I mean, who would believe such a stupid plan?”
But Celeste didn’t seem to hear him, turning her head to lean against the window, no longer speaking.
Liam wanted to say something but remained silent.
What was the use of reasoning with a drunk person? No matter what he said, he would eventually be driven crazy by Celeste’s logic, so he simply stopped talking Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
The car soon arrived at Pinecrest Manor.
As soon as the nanny heard the noise, she grabbed an umbrella and ran outside, only to see Liam carrying someone out of the car.
When she ran over with the umbrella, she realized it was Celeste.
“What happened to Madam?”
Liam didn’t answer, only saying. “Go fill the bathtub with water.”
As he carried Celeste upstairs, Liam noticed the teardrops on her eyelashes and the faint redness at the corners of her eyes, as if she had just cried.
He pursed his lips.
“Sir, the water is ready”
The nanny wanted to help, but Liam refused, saying indifferently. “Make a bowl of sobering soup.”
The nanny looked at Celeste doubtfully and then left as instructed.
The bathroom was filled with steam, and the air was hazy.
Liam placed Celeste on the bed, looked down for a while, and began to unbutton her shirt.
Suddenly, her smooth skin with a touch of redness came into view. He stopped, frowned, threw a towel on her, and turned away.
As he opened the bathroom door, he bumped into the nanny waiting outside. She seemed startled by the sudden opening of the door and cautiously said, “Sir, I brought some clothes”
Liam glanced at her and coldly said, “Clean her up” before walking away.
The nanny saw Celeste lying on the bathroom floor, her clothes intact Liam hadn’t touched her
By the time Celeste was cleaned up and taken to the bedroom, it was an hour later.
The light was on in Liam’s study. The nanny brought in a bowl of soup and whispered, “Sir, Madam is asleep, should I feed her this sobering soup?”
“I’ll take it in later,” Liam flipped a page of the document and looked up. “You can go rest.”
The nanny nodded, put down the soup, and left quietly.
When there was no more noise downstairs, Liam closed the document.
He glanced at the sobering soup on the table, picked it up and walked to the window to pour it out.
That night, Celeste didn’t sleep well, plagued by nightmares. Sometimes she dreamed of the car accident from years ago, the desperation of being trapped under the car, other times she dreamed of Sydney being pregnant and marrying Liam, Liam emotionlessly pulling her hand away
She backed away in disbelief, only to find a bottomless abyss beneath her feet…
Celeste’s heart ached, and she suddenly woke up from her dream, covered in cold sweat. She gasped for breath, realizing it was just a dream…
Her phone on the table rang, and Celeste habitually reached out to fetch it, but instead of finding her phone, she touched something hard yet soft.
She frowned, unconsciously pinched it, and suddenly heard a man’s deep voice next to her ear, “How does it feel?”
