Chapter 11
Chapter 11
I lived in the welfare home for a while.
Life was simple but filled with happiness.
I liked children very much. I liked playing with them and teaching them to read and draw. I liked seeing those kids smile happily.
Looking at the smiling faces around me every day, my heart was filled with a sense of accomplishment.
I could use my limited power to let these poor children have a happy childhood.
Let their lives shift towards a better direction.
It made me feel useful.
It also allowed me to fall asleep peacefully every day.
I liked it here very much.
I preferred this kind of life.
While I improved the lives of these children, they also saved me from being stuck in a quagmire. Like that, I spent half a year of happy time here.
Then one day, I saw news about the Ford Group on the Internet.
“Tyler Ford, the president of Ford Group, was devastated due to the loss of his son. He is suffering from a ferminal illness and has given up treatment.” Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
At the same time as I saw this news, I received a call from an unfamiliar number.
“Wendy, I am Tyler’s mother.”
Her voice was not as powerful as it was six months ago.
With a hint of tiredness, hoarseness, and extreme sadness.
“What do you want?”
I responded calmly.
“Tyler is dying, and he said he wants to see you. I’m calling just to ask you… can you come and see him for the last time?”
In the past, Olivia always spoke to me in an imperative tone.
Looking down on me and being arrogant.
This was the first time she spoke to me so politely.
There was even a hint of humility and pleading in the politeness.
Seeing that I remained silent, she continued slowly.
“In the past half of a year since you left, Tyler has been living a miserable life. He has been crying all day long and even cried out your and Charlie’s names in his dreams.
“It is us who has let you down over the years. I apologize to you. Of course, I don’t expect you to forgive
1. us.
“But please, for the sake of the love between you and Tyler over the years, come see him and fulfill his last wish, please?
“The doctor said he doesn’t have much time.”
