Chapter 289
Leo was also unsure which of the two scenarios the girl in front of him was in.
Simon didn't miss his chance to attack Audrey with a string of accusations. "It's all a lie! If you're really just a high school student who didn't finish college, how could you possibly know about high-energy physics?"
Faced with Simon's skepticism, Audrey replied calmly, a touch of sarcasm flickered in her eyes, "Who says I have to go to college to know high-energy physics? There's not much difference between high school physics and high-energy physics. With enough focus, I'll naturally understand it.'"
Words failed Simon.
His face froze as he instinctively wanted to scold Audrey for her big talk.
He thought, 'Even the physics teachers present probably wouldn't claim to completely understand high-energy physics. What makes her think she can say high-energy physics is easy?'
However, thinking back to how Audrey confidently talked with Leo about those topics, Simon had to admit she might actually know her stuff.
She was just like Miles, showing no respect for her elders at all.
Seeing Simon's disgruntled expression, Audrey felt a bit annoyed too.
She didn't really want to explain anything, but remembering Simon's disdain for Miles earlier, she felt she needed to stand up for her brother.
With that in mind, she met Simon's skeptical gaze and said, "Are you doubting me, or are you doubting that someone like my brother could have a sister who knows about high-energy physics?" That was exactly what Simon was thinking.
He replied matter-of-factly, "As the saying goes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. If the brother is so clueless, how smart could the sister possibly be?"
The other people in the office found the comment to be quite baffling. They thought, 'How could a teacher hold such a grudge against a student?'
Miles also couldn't accept Audrey being questioned and was about to lose his temper before Audrey stopped him.
Audrey didn't argue but pointed at the physics test papers on Leo's desk. "Since that's the case, why don't we make a bet? If I win, you apologize to Miles for all the insults. If I lose, we'll publicly admit we are fools. How's that?" Simon frowned slightly upon hearing this.
He had been teaching for many years and was confident he couldn't misjudge someone, but Audrey's confidence made him uncertain.
Seeing Simon remaining silent, Audrey deliberately provoked, "What's wrong? Afraid to bet?"
Simon couldn't stand being provoked.
On a whim, he immediately retorted, "Why not? But he's a fool to begin with, so admitting it won't be a loss. Unless, of course, you make him drop out!"
Leo thought, 'Is he trying to expel Miles? Isn't this taking things a bit too far?'
Leo didn't expect Simon to say something like that. His face turned grim, and he was just about to intervene.
"Sure," Audrey agreed without a hint of hesitation, her face calm and composed.
For a moment, several teachers standing by all furrowed their brows.
This bet was way too reckless. It was like gambling with the future.
But while the teachers were worried, the person involved, Miles, wasn't worried at all.
He knew there was no chance Audrey would lose with her abilities. Her actions were not a frivolous gamble with his future.
She genuinely wanted to protect him and win back respect for him.
After betting with Simon, Audrey didn't immediately pick up Leo's test papers. Instead, she politely asked, "Mr. Harrington, can I answer all these questions?"
"Of course, you can," Leo happily agreed.
It was a good opportunity for him to see the true abilities of this young girl.
After confirming that she could approach the questions freely, Audrey picked up a pen and began.
A few curious teachers gathered around.noveldrama
Audrey didn't sit down, nor did she ask for any scrap paper.
It took her just over twenty minutes to solve all three major physics problems.
Once finished, she picked up the paper and handed it to Simon. "I'm done."
"That was fast..." Simon looked a bit surprised. He took the test paper with a serious expression and said, "Then I'd better check it carefully. Don't think you can fool me.
Q.UMS
Audrey raised an eyebrow nonchalantly and said, "Whatever suits you."
Simon began to review it seriously, but after a moment, a look of confusion appeared in his eyes.
'What is all this? Why do these
formulas seem so unfamiliar? They don't seem like the typical formulas and principles high school students use. It looks like she's using quantum mechanics and statistics,' thought Simon.
Over the last two years, Simon had only focused on high school textbook essentials and wasn't familiar with mechanics research After examining the answers for a while, he couldn't determine their correctness and felt anxious.
But he didn't want to appear weak in front of others. Just as he was about to act out, Leo, who was standing by, spoke up first, "A genius, truly a genius!"
What do you think?
