Chapter 861 She Finally Came
Chapter 861 She Finally Came
"But..." The moment Sydney heard his words, she sat up straight and looked up at his handsome face, feeling moved.
However, she shook her head and refused. "No. Maybe Greta will come here in a while."
"What if she doesn't arrive soon?" Julien asked, staring at her.
Sydney rolled her eyes at him. "You're playing the devil's advocate again."
"No. But it is possible, right?" Julien said with a serious expression. "Neither of us can make sure when Greta will come. If she comes late, can you keep awake all the time and not feel torpid?"
Sydney fell speechless.
She now felt dizzy, as she was too sleepy.
When Julien noticed Sydney was almost unable to keep her eyes open, he gave a sigh. Then he pulled her into his arms and put her head on his lap. "Sleep. No matter when she comes, snatch some time to rest. Otherwise, you won’t have the energy to argue with her. If you feel tired, you won’t look powerful."
Sydney nodded thoughtfully. "Indeed. You’ve successfully persuaded me. Well, I’ll sleep for a while. When she arrives, wake me up."
"Okay." Julien nodded. "With my company, you can sleep in peace."
At his words, Sydney felt very safe. She smiled at him and uttered in a soft voice, "Okay, then I'll take a rest. Aren't you sleepy?"
"No," Julien stroked her soft long hair and replied gently. "Didn't I tell you that I wouldn’t feel drowsy even if staying up for two days in a row? I’m very sober now."
"Well, you are amazing. But I can't do it. Remember to wake me up when she gets here."
After speaking, Sydney yawned again and then closed her eyes, feeling reassured.
Soon, she breathed peacefully and stably.
Julien looked down at her. With his lips raised, he caressed her smooth face with the back of his hand lightly.
‘She is really weary and falls asleep in the blink of an eye.’
Julien took out his phone, typed some words, and quickly put it aside.
Several minutes later, the door of the lounge opened. A policewoman came in with a furry blanket and said to Julien softly, "Mr. Flint, this is the blanket you want."
Julien stretched his hand without answering her words.
At the sight of it, the female policeman immediately walked towards him lightly and passed the blanket to him.
After Julien took it, he nodded to the policewoman to express his thanks.
The policewoman smiled and waved her hand. Then she glanced enviously at Sydney who was sleeping on Julien's lap, turned around and walked out quietly.
When she stepped out, she gently closed the door, without making any noise during the whole process.
Apparently, before the policewoman came in, Julien had reminded her to be as quiet as possible so as not to disturb Sydney.
Julien didn't see how the policewoman left. He took the blanket, unfolded it gently, and covered Sydney. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Seeming to feel something on her body, Sydney moved her body subconsciously.
Julien thought that when he covered her with the blanket, he made a noise and disturbed her, so he quickly patted her, as if coaxing a frightened baby.
Soon, Sydney returned to her slumber.
But Julien didn't withdraw his hand and continued to pat her back lightly.
He didn’t stop until someone knocked on the door of the lounge, but his hand remained at her back.
The person outside probably guessed that Julien would not respond, so after knocking twice, she opened the door.
It was the policewoman again.
The policewoman stood outside the door, just poking her head in. "Mr. Flint, Miss Sullivan has arrived."
Hearing the name, Julien hardened his face, and a fleeting cold light flashed in his eyes. He nodded, "Okay, I'll come right away."
"Okay." The policewoman smiled and walked away.
In the lounge, Julien looked down at Sydney who was still sleeping sweetly in his arms. He narrowed his eyes, as he was hesitating over whether to wake her up.
After all, Lyra had reached the police station.
But he couldn't bear to interrupt her sleep, as she slept so deeply.
In the end, Julien chose not to wake her up.
He could handle this kind of thing.
Thinking about it, Julien raised Sydney's head slowly.
Then he stood up gradually. Standing near the sofa, he put a pillow on the position where he had just sat, placed Sydney’s head on it and tucked her in.
Though he tried to be as quiet as possible, he still made some noises.
However, Sydney slept so soundly that she didn’t wake up. She just moved her head on the pillow, immersed in her sleep.
Julien stretched his sore thighs and arms while staring at her tenderly.
Seeing her sleeping so soundly, even if he hadn’t changed his posture for the past two hours and his whole body became stiff, he felt worthwhile.
If a man loved a woman, he should give her the best thing, shouldn’t he?
After rubbing his arms, he bent down and kissed her cheek. Then he turned around and walked towards the door.
After he stepped out, the policewoman was still there.
Seeing Julien come out alone, she looked inside the door in surprise and found Sydney still sleeping soundly on the sofa.
She asked in confusion, "Mr. Flint, doesn’t Ms. Raines go with us?"
"She's sleeping. I'll handle it," Julien explained while closing the door.
The policewoman nodded and stopped asking, but she became more envious of Sydney.
She envied Sydney for having such a good man.
‘How great would it be if I could also find such a considerate boyfriend?
‘But it's difficult! Alas.’
The policewoman sighed while shaking her head. Shaking off the thoughts, she returned to her usual grimness.
"Mr. Flint, this way, please." The policewoman made a gesture of invitation.
Julien nodded and followed her to the other side.
Greta was giving a statement in the room.
The man in the interrogation room didn’t tell the police that his employer was Greta, so Greta was just a suspect now. And the police couldn’t take her to the interrogation room to question.
Therefore, the policeman could only ask Greta to give a statement in another room.
When Julien arrived, the policeman was asking whether Greta knew the man in the interrogation room with his photo.
Directly Greta saw the photo, a light flashed in her eyes. Then she shook her head calmly and replied, "No, I don’t know him."
"Really?" Julien narrowed his eyes and asked.
Everyone turned to look at the door.
Though Julien came in and interrupted the conversation, the policeman wasn’t annoyed and instead greeted him. “Hello, Mr. Flint.”
Julien gave a smile and turned his eyes to Greta. His eyes were very cold and full of undisguised murderous intent.
When Greta met Julien's gaze, her face turned pale, and she shuddered uncontrollably.
‘Julien is very frightening.
‘Why does he stare at me viciously?
‘He used to look at me...’
Biting her lower lip, Greta felt angry and frustrated.
