Chapter 910 Something's Wrong
Chapter 910 Something's Wrong
Obviously, Sydney had known Julien would call.
After all, he had asked someone to send these gifts to her, so how could he not try to find out as soon as possible whether the gifts he had prepared were proper or not?
Thinking of this, Sydney didn't hesitate to answer the phone. "Hello?"
"Have you seen the gifts?" The man's low, pleasant voice came over the phone.
Sydney sat down on the armchair, looked at the rows of gift boxes and bags, and nodded with a smile. "Yes."
"So do you think they are appropriate? Do I need to add more?" Julien asked, sitting in a wooden chair in the old residence, slightly straightening his back.
Sydney's mouth twitched. "Add more? Don't do that."
"Why?"
"Why?" Sydney smiled wryly, "You prepared so many gifts. You want to scare Mr. and Mrs. Chase?"
"Did I?" Julien tilted his head slightly, obviously not feeling that he had prepared a lot of gifts.
Sydney rolled her eyes. "For you, a wealthy boss, of course, they are not many, but for Mr. and Mrs. Chase and me, they are many. You've never come to their house before. Why did you prepare so many gifts? One gift for each person is enough. Even if you only give them a gift, they will be very happy."
After all, those were the original wine and the new cosmetics that had not yet been released.
Anyone else would be delighted.
Julien smiled slightly, "It's okay. Those are just a few gifts. Didn't you say you treated them as parents? The things that I'll give to your parents can not be casual."
"That's true, but you don't need to make such a big deal out of it." Sydney frowned.
Julien shook his head. "Well, I can afford to do so, and secondly, they are very good to you, so naturally, I will give them the best things to thank them for taking care of you."
Sydney froze. "So, you prepared these things because you want to thank them?"
"Yes." Julien nodded slightly. "They deserve them. If they were just kind to you as friends, and you just treated them as ordinary elders, I wouldn't have bought these gifts, and I would have someone send something to them, but you said that you treated them as parents and that they treated you as their daughter. Since you have a deep affection for each other, I, as your man, can't deal with them perfunctorily. If so, it would prove that I didn't take you seriously. I prepared so many things, partly because I want Mr. and Mrs. Chase to know that I am willing to spend a lot of money to please them for your sake, which will indirectly tell them how much I value you and you're right to get back together with me.
Because of your importance to me, I'm willing to spend money."
Although it was cheesy, this was the truth. Spending money for a person was the best way to show how much one valued that person.
Sydney did not expect Julien to prepare so many gifts because of her.
She was moved and amused.
"Alright. Since you have prepared them, just do as you please." Sydney's voice was much softer.
Originally, she intended to let him return some of the gifts and just give Mr. and Mrs. Chase a gift each.
But now, she gave up.
He did this, not only to thank Mr. and Mrs. Chase for taking care of her, but also to tell them that he was good to her.
Then naturally, she couldn't let him return the gifts.
She couldn't stop him from doing what he wanted to do.
Hearing Sydney's words, Julien curved his thin lips. "Is there anything else wrong with the gifts?"
"No." Sydney shook her head. "If your gift were not good enough, how would the other gift-givers feel?"
Julien smiled, "That's good. I'll meet you at 7 pm."
Sydney replied, "Okay, I'll wait for you outside Skylight. By the way, are you still with Grandma?"
"Yes." Julien nodded. "Grandma is having a nap, so I'm waiting for her."
"I see. I thought that you had left the old residence and gone to the Flint Corporation." Sydney picked up the coffee pot on the table and poured herself a cup of coffee.
The coffee was already cold and tasted slightly bitter.
She frowned and put the cup back without taking a second sip. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
"I'm not going to the Flint Corporation today. After I finish talking to Grandma, I'll go straight to Skylight to meet you," Julien said softly.
Sydney smiled, "Okay. Grandma is not up yet. If you are bored, how about I talk with you?"
Julien's back was straightened, and his eyes instantly lit up. "That's great!"
She offered to talk with him. Of course, he would not refuse.
Sydney heard the joy and eagerness in the man's tone and couldn't help laughing.
They chatted about gifts, some trouble they had encountered at work, and things between Sean and Luke.
Of course, when it came to the gossip about Luke and Sean, Sydney spoke, and Julien listened.
He occasionally prompted her, commented, and gave advice.
Unknowingly, they talked for two hours on the phone.
It was 5:00 pm.
This afternoon, Sydney had done almost no work. After she came to the office, she comforted Sean and then talked to Julien on the phone.
Looking at the documents piled up on her desk, and thinking that there might be more documents tomorrow, Sydney gave a wry smile.
But she didn't regret it. None of the documents were urgent or particularly important, which was why she dared to spend the afternoon on the call with Julien and put her work aside.
If they were important or urgent, she wouldn't have been on the phone with Julien for so long.
She could get her priorities straight.
"Ms. Raines." At that moment, the office door was suddenly pushed open, and one of Sean's assistants appeared at the door with a hurried expression. "Something happened."
The assistant was so anxious that she didn't even knock on the door. It seemed that something terrible had happened.
Sydney ignored the call with Julien and put the phone down. Her face got serious. "What's wrong?"
The assistant gasped, calmed down a bit, and then hastily replied, "The factory we're working with said that the parts we had ordered had been taken away by someone else."
"What?" Sydney stood up suddenly. "Taken away?"
On the other end of the phone, Julien couldn't hear the assistant's voice, but he could faintly hear Sydney's voice.
Hearing the shock and disbelief in her voice, Julien frowned, and his expression became grim. "Leaf, what's up?"
Sydney had put her phone on her desk, so naturally, she couldn't hear Julien's question, and she didn't answer.
She walked around the desk towards the assistant. "How did it happen? The parts were all custom- made, and the deposit was paid. The final payment is due upon the delivery of the parts. And the parts are labeled with our trademark. Who would snatch them away? What did the factory say? We have a contract with them. How dare they give our parts to others?"
The assistant smiled bitterly, "They just did so. Just now, our company received a call from the factory. They said that the parts had been shipped to another company. They are sorry, and they know they violated the contract, so they are willing to double the penalty and the compensation to us."
