Lenora and Zachary Chapter 499

Chapter 499 I Was Not Late

"Caesare, why did you have me retrieve this?"

Zephyr didn't respond; instead, he asked, "Can you help me locate Pearl Road Flour Mill?"

"Okay, but you haven't answered my question."

"I need to save someone."

Without wasting any more words, Christine quickly located Pearl Road Flour Mill. With a gasp, she warned, "Caesare, the satellite imagery shows that this flour mill is in a state of disrepair. It seems to have been abandoned. Be careful." "Okay."

"You..."

Christine wanted to say more, but all she heard was the mechanical beep from the phone receiver.

Darn it!

Zephyr pressed down on the accelerator, speeding up as he swiftly headed toward the flour mill.

When he reached the outskirts of the city, the roads widened and the traffic lessened. He sped through three red lights in succession, driving so fast that it seemed as though sparks were flying from the wheels of his car. Finally, after a swift ten-minute drive, he arrived at the flour mill.

As Christine had mentioned, the flour mill was now abandoned. The grand entrance was wide open, tainted with rust. Inside, the factory walls were cracked, parts of the ceiling had collapsed, and the ground was a chaotic mess. It was covered with fallen branches, leaves, half bricks, and broken chunks of cement.

A van was parked in front of the factory, its license plate matching exactly with the one captured on surveillance.

They're really here!

Zephyr drove straight into the flour mill. He pulled out a steel pipe from the trunk of his car and strode confidently toward the factory's main entrance.

The factory's main entrance had long since disappeared, the interior easily visible from a distance. A man, his arm adorned with a floral tattoo, was seen dominating a woman.

The woman was fiercely struggling.

She was still wearing the same light green chiffon blouse he had seen just an hour earlier.

Zephyr clenched his fists, his eyes bloodshot. The beast within him roared wildly, devoid of any rationality. He carelessly tossed aside his glasses, grabbed the steel pipe, and stormed in.

The moment he stepped in, a figure suddenly lunged from the side, swinging an iron rod at him.noveldrama

Zephyr was well-prepared. With a swift sidestep, he swung the steel pipe in his hand toward the man's forehead.

The man immediately collapsed onto the ground, his head buzzing, and he was unable to rise for quite some time.

Upon hearing the commotion, Sophia caught a glimpse of Zephyr's figure. Her heart, which was on the brink of despair, suddenly sprung to life, pulsating with renewed vigor. This surge of strength coursed through her entire body, intensifying her struggle.

From behind, another man lunged at Zephyr with a knife. However, before he could reach him, Zephyr skillfully used the length advantage of the steel pipe he held to strike the attacker's thigh. With two consecutive blows, the attacker dropped his knife and had no choice but to shield his head with his arms.

Draco and his underlings had brought their captive to this place, intending to relax and enjoy themselves. However, before they could even take off their pants, they heard the sound of an engine from outside.

To their surprise, someone had caught up so quickly.

Luckily, there was only one person.

Draco had intentionally acted as though he was bullying Sophia, creating chaos among the onlookers. He then positioned two of his underlings on either side of the main entrance, ready to seize control at the right moment. But little did he expect his underlings to be taken down.

Draco picked up the knife from the ground, eyeing Zephyr warily. "Hey, kid, I'd advise you to mind your own business!"

"Get lost!" Zephyr's eyes were as piercing as a blade. "Who do you think you are to even talk to me?"

"You're gonna regret this!"

Draco couldn't bear such humiliation. He picked up his knife and lunged at Zephyr.

Dodging his attack, Zephyr retorted coldly, "If we keep stalling, the police will be here. If you're willing to wait it out, I'm game!"

The two underlings exchanged a glance, a sense of fear creeping into their hearts.

Zephyr had caught up so quickly. They reckoned the police must be arriving soon too.

If this plan were to be successful, they would have to serve a two-year stint. Once they got out, they would reemerge as new men.

But now, things had gotten complicated. They couldn't get the money and if they were caught by the police, it would be a total loss.

Both of them ran out together. One of them even shouted out to Draco, "Draco, we need to leave now! Remember, where there's life, there's hope."

Draco was overwhelmed with humiliation, but he was still rational. All he could do was let out a scornful huff before he made his escape with his two underlings. Immediately, Zephyr stepped forward, pulling Sophia into a tight embrace as if he was afraid she would vanish. He wanted to meld her into him, to become one with her. He closed his eyes, the taut string in his heart finally relaxing. With a sigh of relief, he said, "Thank goodness... Thank goodness I wasn't late." "Mmph..."

Zephyr pulled the torn cloth from Sophia's mouth.

"Zephyr, I love you so much!"

Her gaze at Zephyr was filled with admiration.

He looked so handsome when he was teaching those two gangsters a lesson earlier.

Her expression was enthusiastic and optimistic, seemingly unaffected. However, the pallor of her face revealed her underlying fear.

Zephyr held her tightly and flashed a smile. "Silly girl."

"Hurry up and untie this rope for me."

Zephyr retrieved the knife from the ground and cut through the ropes binding her wrists and ankles. He then helped her to her feet. "How do you feel? Any discomfort?" "No, they didn't get a chance to do anything. You arrived just in time."

Sophia gathered her torn clothes

around her, trying to maintain a calm facade. But for some reason, she couldn't hold back her emotions any longer. Her eyes reddened instantly, and she clung to Zephyr, wiping her tears "Oh Zephyr... I'm so glad you came. You have no idea how scared I was. The moment you left, I was pulled into a car. I was hoping and praying that you'd notice something was wrong, but you didn't come... I was starting to lose hope..."

"It's okay, it's okay." Zephyr held her tightly, his large hand gently patting her back. "I'm here. The bad guy has been chased away."

"Oh, thank goodness you came. You have no idea how happy I was when I saw you."

Sophia smeared all her tears onto him.

She was even more delighted than when she had initially won him over.

Upon seeing her childlike actions, Zephyr freed one hand to wipe away the tears at the corner of her eyes. "Stop crying."

At that moment, the sound of car engines echoed from outside as two police cars drove into the flour mill.

"The police are here. Let's go," Zephyr said, his hand tightly intertwined with hers.

"Okay." Sophia sniffled.

The two of them emerged from the factory, catching the police officers who had just alighted from their vehicles off guard.

Zephyr stepped forward to clarify things with them.

The officer who had been in contact with Zephyr earlier was also part of the team. He didn't expect Zephyr to rescue the hostage single-handedly. Out of curiosity, he asked, "How did you find this place?" Zephyr pursed his lips, glancing at Sophia beside him. "This is a long story. Let's talk about it at the police station."

"All right."

The lead officer quickly delegated

tasks. One group set off in pursuit of

Draco and his underlings, while

another returned to the police

station to record statements and

conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.

Sophia rode in Zephyr's car.

She closed her eyes, calming the tumultuous emotions within her.

Zephyr quietly drove the car, careful not to disturb her.

After calming down, she gritted her teeth in anger and said, "This is the first time in my life I've been kidnapped. I have no idea who's behind this d*mned scheme! If find out who it is, I swear I'll tear them apart with my own hands!"

Draco and his underlings had kidnapped her without asking any questions. Their only intent was to violate her. It was clear they were acting under someone else's orders.

Sophia was far from foolish.
