Chapter 298
Chapter 298
Hearing his question, Sasha felt a surge of anger so intense she could barely contain the urge to kick him. She was still a virgin, and here he was, sullying her reputation.
She was about to unleash a verbal storm, but then she remembered Clara's warning. “Don't make a scene.”
Swallowing her rage, Sasha glared at Chase. "What's it to you whose baby it is? Do you control everything in this city? Why must you stick your nose in everyone's business? Now, you even care about whose child I'm carrying?"
Chase's face turned even redder with fury. He grabbed Sasha's chin, his eyes glinting with a coldness she had never seen before.
"Sasha, you sure picked up the trashy stuff fast. You've learned to sleep around, huh? What's next? Planning on having a bastard child?"
At these words, Sasha exploded. She aimed a kick toward Chase's crotch and hissed through clenched teeth, "Who I sleep with and who I have a baby with is none of your damn business. If you think I'm such an embarrassment, let's just pretend we don't know each other from now on!" Then, she stormed out of the car and didn't look back. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Chase doubled over from the pain, his facial muscles twitching. As he watched Sasha's petite figure vanish from his sight, he punched the car door in frustration and cursed a string of profanities.
Sasha left the hospital and hailed a cab, feeling a heavy weight in her chest. That jerk Chase had the nerve to think so lowly of her.
To hell with arranged marriages! Who in their right mind would marry that jerk?
She was still fuming when she stepped into Clara's room. Clara noticed immediately and asked with concern, "What's wrong? Did someone bully you?"
Sasha vented, "That jerk Chase! He saw me buying a pregnancy test and accused me of fooling around. It drove me insane!"
Clara gently stroked her head and smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, hon, this is all my fault. I'll explain it to Dr. Chase when I get a chance."
"No need to explain anything to him. He's not my boyfriend. Let's just do the test already. My heart's in my throat here."
Sasha tore open the pregnancy test kit and handed it to Clara before pushing her toward the bathroom. Standing outside, she paced back and forth anxiously. "Clara, how's it going? You done yet?"
"I'm so nervous. I can't pee."
"Don't rush it. Take your time. If you need to, I'll get you some water to drink."
Both were on edge. They knew the gravity of the situation for Clara.
Minutes later, the bathroom door swung open. Sasha rushed in and snatched the pregnancy test from Clara's hand. When she saw the two bright red lines, she screamed with excitement, and hugged Clara tightly, her tears flowing freely. "Clara, you're pregnant! You're actually pregnant with Ian's baby!"
Sasha knew how much Clara longed for this child. The biggest sorrow between her and Ian was the difficulty they had in conceiving, a scar on Clara's heart. But now, with the child on the way, nothing could separate them.
Clara, however, didn't seem as thrilled as Sasha had imagined. She watched Sasha with tears in her eyes. "Sweetie, Ian and I... we've broken up."
"Broken up? What are you talking about? Wasn’t everything just fine? Why split up?"
Sasha pulled her to sit down, gently stroking her hair.
Clara's eyes glistened with tears as she explained, "I'm scared, Sasha. Leonora's already hurt people close to me. First, it was my dad, then Grandpa Reed. Who knows, you could be next. I can't stand the thought of someone getting hurt because of me."
