Chapter 328
Chapter 328
Brodie could sense the inevitable coming. There was a hint of concern in his voice. “Aren’t you afraid of facing even greater dangers back home?”
Clara shook her head with resolve, her voice steady. “I won’t let Sasha bear the consequences for me alone. I owe it to her to seek justice.”
Brodie had known Clara’s temperament since they were kids. She was usually gentle and compliant, but once her dander was up, nobody could hold her back.
He let out a resigned sigh, “Alright then. Let’s get you to the hospital.”
Two hours later, Clara pushed open the door to Sasha’s hospital room. Instead of finding Sasha, her gaze fell upon Ian’s tall, lean figure.
His face was pale, and his eyes were sunken. There was a look of unprecedented concern etched between his noble brows.
He walked over to Clara and wrapped his arms around her, his voice a whisper of velvet tenderness. “Don’t worry. Sasha’s out of danger. It’s just a broken leg.”
Clara, taken aback, questioned, “Wasn’t it said she was in a coma?”
Ian leaned down, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. His voice was raspy with emotion. “I’m sorry, Clara. I couldn’t let you leave alone with our child, the fruit of our love, the result of sleepless nights of passion. You can’t do this to me.”
It was only then that Clara realized she had been played by Ian. He had spread fake news just to force her back.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Tears clouded Clara’s vision as she looked at him. Her voice was shaking uncontrollably. “Ian, do you realize that it should have been me lying here? They were after my life and our child’s.”
“I know, and I’ve got people on it. We’ll have answers soon. This time, no matter who it is, I won’t let them get away,” Ian assured her while gently rubbing her back.
His heart was still in a vice grip. The thought of what could have happened to Clara was too much to bear.
It’s such a violent strike, and the chances of their child surviving were next to nothing. If anything had happened to their child, he knew there would be no reconciliation with Clara.
He whispered a solemn vow into her ear, “Clara, I’ll protect you and our child. If you want to leave, I’ll give up everything here and take you away. Just let me take care of you both, okay?”
Faced with his earnest plea, Clara’s heart softened. She sniffled and managed to say, “Let’s talk about us later. For now, take me to see Sasha.”
“Anything, as long as you two stay,” Ian said, with a faint smile finally gracing his lips as he took Clara’s hand and led her to another room.
There lay Sasha, propped up in bed. Her right leg was encased in a cast, and her head was wrapped in gauze. Despite her injuries, the fire in her dark eyes hadn’t dimmed. She glared at Chase. “Just seeing your face makes my wounds throb. Get out.”
Chase let out a half-laugh, half-snort. “All this over a misunderstanding about a pregnancy? I already apologized, didn’t I?”
“Is it really about the apology? It’s about the prejudices you hold deep down. You think our line of work is dirty. Chase, what do you think you are? You flirt around with every nurse in this place,” Sasha snapped back.
Chase smirked, “Jealous?”
“Jealous my foot! Who you sleep with is none of my business!”
Their argument escalated when they turned and saw Clara and Ian standing at the doorway.
Sasha’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Clara, you finally got away. Why on earth did you come back?”
