Pampered by Billionaires after Being Betrayed

Chapter 27

Chapter 27 Do You Still Love Her?

Nathan stared at Emily's departing figure, contemplating chasing after her.

Sophia grabbed his hand, "Nathan, let's go inside and sort out our matters first." Nathan impatiently shook her off, "You go ahead. I'm heading back to the office."

"Are you going back to the office or going after Emily?" Sophia tried to suppress her anger, "Nathan, I'm carrying your child, and with so many people here, if something happens to me, your child could be in danger."

Emily's white dress had already disappeared into the distance.

Nathan gritted his teeth, reluctantly withdrawing his gaze, his tone not any better, "Sophia, you insisted on getting the car. Are you deliberately provoking Emily with those words?"

"My child is also her family. We are all family. I thought Emily would sympathize with my hardship of being pregnant, but I didn't expect her to be so heartless now." Sophia's eyes reddened, casting a resentful glance at him before lowering her head sadly. Nathan sighed, feeling somewhat helpless as he rubbed his forehead, "I know it's not easy for you to carry this child... Forget it, let's not talk about it. Let's go register the vehicle."

Sophia grabbed his hand, affectionately cooing, "Nathan, are you still not over Emily?"

Nathan's steps faltered, his speech starting to stutter, "N-no, of course not. Don't be ridiculous."

Sophia's eyes darted, continuing to probe, "Emily has changed a lot, hasn't she? She's much prettier now than before, and other men might be interested in her. As long as she has a good future, I'll feel relieved too."

Nathan stopped in his tracks, a hint of anger between his brows, "You know there are other men interested in her?"

Sophia feigned surprise, "Nathan, you didn't know? Last time, Olivia took her to a yacht, and a few eligible bachelors were interested in her."

"Eligible bachelors?" Nathan sneered, "Those people are just squandering family fortunes. What do they have to offer?"

"As long as they treat Emily well," Sophia smiled and continued, "I'll support anyone who treats Emily well."

Nathan gave her a cold stare, then turned and walked away on his own.

"Nathan..." Sophia hurriedly followed, "This is the second time you've left me alone. Last time at the seafood restaurant, you just walked away without a word, leaving me to pay the bill..."

"Huh, do I have to report to you wherever I go now?" Nathan stopped, sneering at her, "Sophia, you better understand your position! Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you can do whatever you want! You secretly signed the divorce agreement with Emily and printed our wedding invitations? I always thought you were sensible and obedient, but it seems you have another side, don't you?"

Being scolded publicly by Nathan, Sophia felt utterly humiliated!

She gritted her teeth and protested softly, "Nathan, no matter what, I'm carrying a child for your Reed family. Emily didn't do that! How could you say such things to me?"

"Speaking of the child," Nathan said icily, "if you hadn't deliberately seduced me and tried to help me have a child, why would I have forgotten to use protection?"

Sophia was taken aback, "So, do you still love Emily now?"

Nathan retorted, "It's none of your business," and left straight away, paying no attention to Sophia calling after him.

Outside, Nathan dialed Emily's number, but it was switched off.

He scoffed bitterly; Emily never switched off her phone unless she had blacklisted him.

She really had changed now.

Jealousy burned fiercely in Nathan's chest as he dialed a number and made a call: "Is this the private detective agency? I need your help investigating someone. Money is not an issue... Yes, I suspect my wife of having an affair, and I need to know everything about the man." When Sophia returned to the villa, only Carol was there.

"Sophia, why are you back alone? Where's Nathan?" Carol asked, concerned.

Sophia forced a smile, "He had some work at the office, so he left early."This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Carol sighed, walking over to her and supporting her, "Nathan is being too much. How could he leave when you're pregnant?"

There was a strange smell in the air.

Sophia frowned, sniffing, becoming increasingly certain of her suspicion, "Mom, is something broken in the house? There's a strange smell."

"Oh, I was just about to tell you," Carol said indignantly, "Our maid took a leave, and no one has cleaned the kitchen. This morning, I found the eggs in the fridge had gone bad. I poured them into the toilet, but it got clogged, and now the whole house smells."

With her pregnancy-induced nausea, Sophia couldn't control herself upon smelling the foul odor and rushed to the bathroom to vomit.

This made matters worse.

The stench of rotten eggs mixed with her vomit filled the air.

Carol covered her nose and mouth, looking disgusted, "Sophia, go unclog the toilet."

Sophia's eyes widened in surprise, pointing to her nose in disbelief, "You want me to do that?"

"Well, it's just the two of us at home. Should I go unclog the toilet?" Carol said matter-of-factly, "Hurry up, Sophia, the smell is unbearable."

Sophia was furious all the way back. She had expected Carol to treat her kindly at least when she came home, but she never thought she'd be told to unclog a toilet, especially as a pregnant woman.

"Mom, I'm pregnant. I don't want to do this," Sophia protested.

Carol urged, "You're barely three months pregnant, and it won't affect your normal activities. Besides, unclogging a toilet doesn't require much physical exertion. It's fine."

Finally unable to contain her anger, Sophia retorted, "Mom, I'm Nathan's wife. Are you asking me to unclog a toilet?"

It was the first time Sophia had defied Carol, who instantly became enraged, "What are you saying? When Emily was here, whatever I asked her to do, she would obediently do. Why do you suddenly think you're too noble to do this?"
