MISUNDERSTANDING
Nolan felt his veins pop out and he suddenly became so pissed. Everyone was shocked. It was so hard to believe, why was Layla In bed with another man?
The room was deathly silent, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife. Everyone could see the anger in Nolan’s eyes, the hurt and betrayal.
Without thinking twice, he headed straight for the bed and threw the guard away from Layla as he landed on the ground with a loud thud.
The guard winced as he looked at nolan.
“How dare you??” Nolan’s voice thundered and a punch landed in the guards face and blood immediately started flowing out from his nose.
Nolan felt his rage bubbling over as he threw punch after punch at the guard. The guard tried to defend himself, but he was no match for Nolan’s fury.
He groaned in pain as Nolan kept hitting him repeatedly. Then they heard a person moan and everyone fixed their attention on the bed.
Layla yawned softly as her eyes slowly fluttered open. She felt a little headache as she was not able to remember where she was last.
“What the…” Layla’s voice trailed off as she took in her surroundings, the scene before her eyes. She saw Nolan standing over the guard, who was clearly injured. She saw the rage in Nolan’s eyes, the hurt and betrayal.
“What’s going on?” she asked, her voice shaky and uncertain. She felt disoriented, like she had just woken up from a nightmare. She was seated on a bed and everyone had this sullen look on their faces.
Nolan’s eyes locked on hers, and she saw a flicker of recognition.
“You’re awake,” he said, his voice hoarse.
” Yes I.. I… ” she stammered and grr eyes fell ok Nolan’s fist.
“What happening your hand?” She pointed at his hand and wanted to get off the bed but she felt a slight pain which made her whimper softly.
“What’s going on here? Why’s everyone so quiet?” She asked, still oblivious of what was going on.
“quit with the acting Layla! ” Carla snapped at her angrily. It seemed like Layla was working whatever magic she had on Nolan who was supposed to have already hit her. That was what she expected.
“What?” Layla’s eyes narrowed in confusion.
“You should be ashamed of yourself!” She fired at Layla, Who froze utterly confused.
“What are you talking about?” Layla asked, her voice confused and hurt.
“I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t understand what’s happening. Nolan..” She faced him but he looked away from her.
Carla looked at her, and she felt motivated to go on, after seeing Nolan’s reaction.
. “You’ve been playing us all along. I saw the way you were acting with the men, all flirty and coy. And now you’re acting all innocent?” she scoffed, her voice filled with disbelief. “You’re just a little actress, aren’t you?”
Layla shook her head, her eyes filling with tears. “I don’t know what happened here, but it’s not what you guys are thinking ..” she shook her head as she was now getting a grasp of what was happening, why the guard was receiving a beating from Nolan, why she was on the bed and the strange look on their faces.
“You should have done better than this Layla. I mean Nolan loves you so much and you did this to him. You are having an affair with his guard!!” Carla spelled out, her voice loud and clear.
Layla’s breath hitched, she didn’t know what to say or do or even defend herself.
” It’s a lie, I don’t know what you’re talking about and I’m not having an affair with anybody. Nolan we should talk.. ” she looked at Nolan with pleading eyes but not even once did he spare her a glance.
“You expect me to believe that? Do you expect us to believe that? We all saw it! You were in an intimate position with this guard” Carla scoffed, her eyes hard.
“You’ve been playing us all this time, and now you expect me to believe you’re innocent? I don’t think so.”
Nolan remained silent, his eyes fixed on the ground. Layla felt her heart breaking, knowing she had lost his trust.
“Nolan, please,” she begged, her voice breaking. “I’m telling the truth. I don’t know what Carla is talking about.”
But he still wouldn’t look at her, wouldn’t even acknowledge her presence.
“I… this is all a misunderstanding.. ” she tried to explain.
“I’m so sorry my king. But the queen forced me into this. Please spare me… ” he begged as he coughed out blood.
“That’s a lot Nolan..” Layla cried out as she jumped down from the bed and rushed to where Nolan stood.
They were trying to frame her up and it seemed like it was working.
Layla’s heart was racing, her mind reeling. She didn’t know what to do or say, how to make them believe her.
“Nolan, I’m telling the truth,” she said, her voice shaking. “I didn’t do anything with him, I promise.”
But Nolan just stared at the ground, silent and unmoving. The person around them looked on
confused, it felt so real but none of them could ever believe that Layla could do such. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
“You’re a queen Layla. How could you be so cheap!” Carla fired, raising her voice.
” You cheated on your husband with a guard.. ” she deadpanned. She was loving the look on Layla’s face.
” Shut up Carla!!” Aurora chimed in angrily.
“It’s best if you shit your mouth and stop trying to make matters worse..” she frowned. She had no idea what was going on but she was sure that there was no way Layla could have done this.
Carla whirled around to face Aurora, her eyes blazing.
“And who are you to tell me what to do?” she demanded. “You’re just a visitor here and you have no right to speak to me like that.”
Aurora’s face flushed red with anger. She knew Carla was just trying to get a reaction out of her, and she was ready to give her a befitting reply.
She was worried about Layla, and she knew she had to do something to help her. Because she was in trouble now.
“Layla I swear I’m going to get you out of this..” she promised.
” I know there must be a misunderstanding here.. ”
” Perhaps you both are accomplices.” Carla accused.
” The cheating queen and her friend.. ”
” Carla, that’s enough!!! ” Nolan’s angry voice thundered in the room. He had heard enough already.
“Not another word from you..” he warned his eyes settling in Layla as their eyes met.
“Nolan..” she uttered his name and a tear dropped from her eyes.
She wanted him to believe her to believe that she would never stoop so low.
“Darren take Layla back to the room..” he instructed.
” Don’t step out till I tell you too.. ” he said to Layla, his voice indifferent.
“Come with me..” Darren muttered as he began to walk away with Layla.
