Turmoil
“I think you should talk to her yourself, she refused to eat anything,” Keisha said to Nolan as they both stood by the door to Layla’s room.
It just marked 24 hours since Noelle was taken away from them.
The whole pack was in turmoil as everyone was trying to find the little princess but it seemed like she just disappeared into thin air.
Nolan has set out a huge cash prize for anyone who could provide for his child, while he did all he could to find her by searching the nook and cranny of the pack.
Each time a guard came to give him reports, he hoped it was good news.
“F*ck” Nolan ran his hands through his hair as he exhaled sharply. He hadn’t gotten sleep neither had he eaten, not that he was planning to, as he didn’t mind starving as long as his little angel was brought back to him hale and hearty but the same couldn’t be said for Layla. She was human and was also pregnant.
“I’ll talk to her..” Nolan voiced out.
“Please do..” Keisha said as Nolan walked into the room. No one has smiled in the palace.
Noelle was the light of the palace, she was always up to one mischief or the other and made everyone laugh.
But now it was so empty without her. Everyone remained curled up in their rooms praying to the moon goddess that she brought back to them safe and sound.
“Layla dear..” Nolan called as he got into the room. Layla was curled up in bed and he could tell that she was crying.
“I thought I asked you to stop crying?” He questioned sitting on the bed near where her head was.
“How can I stop crying?” She asked in a croaked voice, she wasn’t even able to get any rest.
“I want my daughter!” She requested as she broke into another round of tears. “Bring back Elle to me..” she added.
Nolan felt his heart break at the sight of this, she was in pain and he hated seeing her in pain.
They’ve been together for close to six years now and he’s never seen her this broken before.
“You should eat something..” he said to her, placing his hands on her head, and caressing her face softly.
“You’ve got to be kidding me, Nolan..” she chuckled dryly as she sniffled.
“My daughter is out there somewhere, crying and you expect me to eat?” She painstakingly asked.
“I’m not even sure if she’s had something yet! Noelle can’t sleep without having her glass of mild first. Nolan..” Layla called sitting up from the bed. Her eyes were puffy due to the nonstop crying.
“You have to bring my daughter back. You have to! Noelle hates cheese in her meals. Heaven knows if she’s been fed..” Layla stammered and her head fell on Nolan’s shoulders.
“We have to bring her back, she can’t sleep without me singing her lullabies. I’m sure my little angel must be crying out for me now and there is nothing I can do about it. I feel so useless.. ” she blurted out as Nolan wiped out the tears from her face.
” You’re not useless. You’re the best mother Noelle would ever ask for.. ”
” It’s all my fault she was taken… ” Layla began to blame herself. If she had taken some guards along, probably her daughter would have been with her now.
“It’s not your fault. And I promise to bring Noelle back at all costs.” Nolan swore.
“Right now you have to think about your health and eat something.. ” he stated but Layla wasn’t in for it. She was not going to eat anything until her daughter was brought back to her.
” I’m not hungry.. ” she says stubbornly.
” You don’t have to be delusional Layla. While you’re acting stubborn Don’t forget you’re pregnant and you need to think about your health. You must eat something!! ” Nolan stated as he dragged the trolley close to where he sat.
” Here, have a glass of milk to calm yourself down..” he offered and Layla reluctantly agreed. Nolan was right, she needed to eat something and be strong for the baby and Noelle. She couldn’t help but wonder who she must have offended for the person to punish her in such a cruel way.
Nolan made sure she drank the whole cup of milk before he began to feed her slowly, they were halfway done when her phone rang.
“You should take it..” Nolan said to Layla who shook her head.
“I don’t want to..” Nolan decided to ignore the call but the caller kept persisting so he decided to see who the call was.
‘private number ‘ was written on the screen and Nolan and Layla exchanged glances with each other.
“Hello..” Nolan’s deep voice vibrated in the whole room as he placed the call on a loudspeaker.
“If you want to see your daughter, come to the pack’s old reservoir and come alone, don’t try bringing any guards or you’ll lose your precious little Noelle..” The person who was using an automated voice threatened as Layla and Nolan froze on the spot.
“You..” Layla was about to say something about the call had already been disconnected.
” We have to go there Nolan..” she sniffled standing up from the bed in a haste.
Nolan shook his head slowly in agreement wondering who the caller was, he would have loved to go alone and see things for himself regarding Layla’s condition but she would be so stubborn and refuse, saying her daughter’s life was in danger and the abductor demanded that both came together.
… .
Layla and Nolan arrived at the pack’s old reservoir. It was no longer in use and had been like that for up to ten years now.
Everywhere was filled with dust and Layla couldn’t help but feel bad knowing her child was probably being kept there.
Nolan held Layla tight as he was always ready to protect her.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“Well, well, well. Look who we have here. If it isn’t the two lovely couples..” A person says with sarcasm clapping her hands together, but to their greatest surprise, they saw Carla. A very different Carla. But she was dead?
