Chapter 190: Say It Again if You Dare
Chapter 190: Say It Again if You Dare
The city was washed clean after several days of heavy rain, the air smelt fresh in the early morning after the rain, but unfortunately the good times wouldn’t last long. The sun came out soon in the afternoon, and the whole city fell into endless dullness of the summer, even the chirping sound of crickets were hoarse.
Kevin locked himself in the house for several days. The housekeeper would come every day to tidy the place at a fixed time. However, she could no longer bear the foul smell coming out from the bedroom and called his sister.
“Kevin.”
Lindsay Jackman opened the door directly and walked into the house.
Kevin was living in a vintage condominium, where the two floors were connected together. The lower floor was renovated into an open bedroom, and upstairs was the living room. The decoration and renovation was supervised by a person sent by Lindsay. It was the Nordic minimalist style, which made the place looked bright and clean.
The housekeeper was quite responsible, the door was neat and clean. But when she walked a few steps downstairs, Lindsay was choked by a puff of sour odor. She covered her nose and shouted towards downstairs, “
“Kevin, don’t you dare tell me you shit in the room. Are you still a normal human if you made the place stink like this?”
There was no movement downstairs. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Lindsay hesitated for a while, she overcame the nausea in her stomach, and took the first step out.
In a glance, she saw the entire place was like a garbage dump. All sorts of bottles, snacks and miscellaneous goods piled all over the floor. On top of the coffee table was a mountain of garbage. It was piled with take-away containers.
“You can still drink and eat and even order take-away! Stop play dead!”
Lindsay was furious. She used one of her hands to move the blanket and another one to touch the containers on the table, “Believe it or not? I’ll pour all the food on your head! Do you know that I am very busy…”
Before she finished her words, Lindsay turned her head and saw that all the take-away containers were not opened at all. Her expression changed all of a sudden.
“Kevin, how long have you not eaten?”
All the mountain-liked take-away containers on the table were not touched at all.
The person under the blankets was silent, as if he was dead. Lindsay panicked and flipped open the blankets. She stared at the things under the blankets. Then, she yanked it out and threw it on the ground to release her anger.
“Damn it! You bastard!”
The husky plush toy rolled to the corner innocently. The bells around his neck jingled for a while before it quieted down.
Lindsay grabbed her bag and left the apartment with her 12 centimeter high heels angrily.
‘You’re fooling me, you brat.’
Below the hospital inpatient department, Alayna just finished having a meal with Hayden. They were sitting in a booth chatting.
“So that day, you rejected his proposal without giving any reason?”
“What reason?” Alayna looked down and smiled as if she was laughing at herself, “I don’t think that’s the reason. It is all my own problem. He’s that kind of young master who used to freedom, if I really entrust the rest of my life to him, that will prove that I really have a brain problem.”
“"But it's been so long, hasn't it recovered? And didn't the doctor say that as long as you keep your emotions stable, you'll be fine?"
"It's not recovered."
Alayna lifted her head up and looked seriously into Hayden’s eyes, “There’s no recovery, it just doesn’t happen for the time being. It’s just like an untimely bomb, you never know when will it explode. The years when I enlisted in the army were the most peaceful time for me. If it wasn’t because I want to experience more about life, I wouldn’t leave that place. You see, nothing can trap me, so do love.”
The army wouldn’t allow any mood swings. They just had to obey the orders, but Alayna wouldn’t want to lock herself in that place forever. Hence, since she chose to live, she would have to deal with the life she chosen.
“It’s not Kevin that wants to trap you, it’s you who don’t want him to be trapped by you.”
Hayden’s words broke the mystery.
Alayna originally smiled happily and her smile froze suddenly.
Hayden thought that her words were too direct, and she was about to make up for it. Then, she noticed that Alayna’s gaze was not on her, but went straight over her shoulder and looked behind her.
Hayden followed her gaze and saw a person that she nearly couldn’t recognize anymore.
A bearded man stood outside the booth. His white shirt was stained with an unknown yellow stain, the noon sun was shining brightly on him, which looked painful and hot.
It was Kevin.
It was the man who would dress neatly for an hour-long meeting at the hotel. He would spray unique scented perfume. Even his hair strands had to be careful tended.
That man became so unkempt until like this?
“Hmm… Alayna, I’ll go away for a while.”
Hayden stood up and wanted to excuse herself.
“No need.”
Alayna’s voice sounded deliberately cold, because she had never been a cold person, even when she was arguing with people, her voice was ardent, like a flame that exploded with energy at all times.
"I think that I made it very clear to you the other day, Kevin. Now, you come to me and make yourself looking like those men in those pathetic dramas, thinking that you can win sympathy to salvage something this way."
“No.”
Kevin stepped forward, his tall figure blocked the hot sun and casted a shadow on her.
Hayden took two steps to the side, but she still felt like she was being tortured until she cannot breathe by the aura of these two people, it was really depressing.
"I just come to confirm with you one last time."
"Confirm what?"
"Confirm that what you said to me that day is true. Say it again if you dare.” Kevin gritted his teeth as if the words were squeezed out from between his teeth.
"I'm telling you, these two days I thought I was dead. Those words you said were like knife stabbing in my heart over and over again, say it again if you have the guts." Alayna was good in telling off men.
Hayden had witnessed her ability since long ago. After all, she was not a good woman. All these years, she had dozens of boyfriends. She had also met men like Kevin who really loved her to death.
“Wait a minute.”
Before those words came out, Hayden forced herself to break the stiffened atmosphere and pulled out a smile.
“Sorry to interrupt, before the two of you start arguing. Kevin, let me ask you a question, do you really like Alayna? What do you like about her?
“Hayden, why are you asking him about this? He’s not in love with me. He has so many women, and he does not really need me.” Alayna was still pretending to be cold.
Hearing this, Kevin’s brow tangled tightly together. He confessed loudly like he made a big decision, “How do I not like you? I’ve never seen a woman who had so much passion for the world. Your passion was burning like a fire in you. You’ve wild imaginations, and freedom that no one can trap you. You are a woman who is more splendid than fireworks."
His voice was loud and full of certainty and confidence.
However, the last beam of light in Hayden’s eyes dimmed. She sighed silently, looked at Alayna and said, “Go ahead and argue with him.”
If everything that you liked about her was all fake or even totally opposite, then will you still like this person?
Alayna was this kind of person.
“Kevin, just leave.”
The voice in the booth was suppressed and low.
“The number of sex partner I have was no lesser than yours. We’re just having fun. The one who got serious first will lose the game. So, don’t embarrass yourself.”
