Chapter 15 - Mr Payne
Justus POV
We bid the Queen Witch Fiona goodbye and leave the Blue Palace. It's time for us to travel to the Isle of Demons. It's a few days' travel from here even if we complete the entire trip in wolf form. I look over at Gracia and pull her closer to me and I kiss the top of her forehead.
"Pack Meeting!" Jackin calls out. We all stop and stare before I burst out laughing. My laughter happens to be contagious and everyone starts laughing except for Jackin. He stands there with his hands on his hips looking very put out with everyone.
"Okay, this is serious everyone! We need to talk." He lets out a huff and starts walking off but he's stopped by Gracia.
"We're sorry. Let's sit over here in the shade under the tree and you can tell us whatever is on your heart." She looks so sweet that he can't help but bend to her wishes and slowly stomps over to the tree and plops down with another big huff. "So, seriously what's on your mind Jackin?" I ask, interested in what he thinks is so serious to call a 'pack meeting' for.
"Well, I've been thinking about this whole thing with your brother looking for the key and I've been curious if we should warn your father?" Jackin asks me thoughtfully.
"Yeah, I've been thinking about the same thing but I don't think we should talk directly to my dad. Instead I've been thinking of sending a message to one of my dad's assistants as he'll know better the climate of the castle and if he should show the message to my dad or not. He'll also know what to do with it if he shouldn't show the information to my dad. Mack, your dad already knows I can't imagine that he's just sitting on the information unless he has to." I answer back truthfully.
"So, how do we get a message to your dad's assistant?" Gracia asked.
"Well, we have to hire a messenger in one of these villages and send him to the castle. We have enough money left from the Takers to send the message. Let's go to the nearest village and grab some food then we can look for a messenger." I take Gracia's hand again and I give her a small peck on her lips.
'Mate tastes like strawberries.' My wolf Jasper tells me.
'Yeah she does. We're so lucky to have her.' I answer back
'She's very pretty just like her wolf, Grey.' Jasper tells me.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
'When will I get to mate with Grey?' Jasper asks.
'I don't know. I haven't even mated with Gracia yet.' I answer back a little irritated.
'Well, hurry up. Why haven't you?' Now Jasper is getting irritated with me.
'I'm not having this conversation with you.' With that I shut off the link. I look over at Gracia and she's looking at me kind of oddly.
"You've been furrowing your brows like you've been having a conversation with yourself and you're not winning." She said with a slight smirk.
I laugh out loud. "I was having a conversation with my wolf and he was irritating me."
We get to the next village and write down the message to send out.
Assistant Tielo:
I believe that my brother, Achard, had Mr & Mrs Takers killed for an artifact that is the key to the Gates of Guinee. If you don't know what I'm talking about, talk to Mr Payne at the store in town called Books, Oddities, and Curiosities. If you can please speak with my father about this matter. I appreciate your confidentiality.

With that I rolled the paper up and handed it to the messenger and he took off to the palace. Hopefully, the messenger is a trustworthy one and will deliver the message intact.

Assistant Tielo
I just received the message from Prince Justus; however, the problem is I am no longer the assistant for the king, I am now the assistant for Prince Achard. I must make sure that he does not get wind of this note. I need to take careful deliberation of what my next step should be. I suppose first I should start with finding out more about this artifact. I wonder if there will be anything in the library so I will not have to go to town. Hmmmm I think I found a good book to start with. * Golden Moon Pack *
Mr Payne
I just opened the shop this morning. There's usually not many customers on a Tuesday. The majority of my customers are looking to have something appraised, to sell something, or an occasional customer may look to buy something unusual. Today I'm in the back of the store dusting off some old books reminding myself of what I have. Oh well there's the bell. I have a customer!
Two gentlemen. Both rather well built, very pale, and dressed all in black. "Good day gentlemen! How may I be of service!" I smile as I greet them.
"We are looking for a very specific Book of Hours. We would like one illuminated by Rothschild Prayerbook. Can you provide that?" The taller one asks. He has somewhat of a sickly smile. I don't think I like him.
"Well, I don't have one in stock but I could order it. Let me step back and I'll find the forms." I said as I placed my spectacles on. As I stepped into the back of my store the two men began to follow me. I turned to them to redirect them back to the front of the store. "No, there's no need to follow me. I'll bring the forms out to you. You stay at the front of the store."
Just then the taller one grew his vampire fangs and grabbed my shoulders pulling me to him. I tried to resist but he was much stronger. I was indeed afraid for my life. When in just the nick of time Gamma Gosse walked along with Beta Augusto.
Gosse placed a hand on the taller one's shoulder while Augusto placed a hand on the shorter one's shoulder and walked them to the front of the store. "I believe these men were just leaving." Gosse said. When I got to the front of the store Delta Ermo was standing there he waved goodbye to the two vampires.
"So, why are the three of you here? Why would the vampires be here? I think the one wanted to drink my blood!" I said nervously as I changed my door sign from open to closed and then locked the door.
"We think you should go on a short vacation somewhere. Maybe visit some relatives? We're concerned for your safety. You've shared information that has now been tracked and could get you killed." Augusto said, trying his best to not sound too scary, people skills were not his strong suit.
"What information?" I asked, I couldn't think of anything that could get me killed.
"Information on the artifact that you told to Prince Justus and his little band of renegades." Augusto said with a heavy sigh. "Someone is willing to pay a heavy price to keep this as quiet as possible, not to mention to seal off any kind of friends that Justus may have to help him through his journey."
"Oh, dear. Well I guess I could go visit my Great Aunt Agnes in the Silver Moon Pack." I said thinking out loud.
"That's at least a day's journey by foot from here. Come with us to the palace and we'll give you a horse from the palace stables." Gosse offered.

Achard POV
I see those three fools bring back that old man from the shop and get him a horse from the stables. I can hear them talking about going to Silver Moon Pack. A particular window in my room overlooks the horse stables and now all I need to do is give him a bit of time to get far enough down the road and then I shall feast on his blood.
I leave the castle through a back entrance that only a few know of as I put my black cloak on and cover my face with its hood. I smile to myself as I stroll down the path I have been feasting quite regularly lately and I was worried I would have to do without. I walk for about an hour and when I don't see anyone around I start to walk faster but not full vampire speed and before I know it I'm almost right behind him.
