Psycho Boss And His Sassy Secretary

Jayden threads a hand through his jet-black hair, swallowing a gulp down his throat. He doesn’t know what to say, his lips remain glued together.

Jayden wishes those mean words hadn’t come out of his mouth. He shouldn’t have said that to her. Now, he has hurt her feelings.

Evelyn pulls away from her boss’ desk, trying hard to control the tears which are threatening to fall from her honey-brown eyes.”I am going to forward my resignation letter to you through email,” She says.

Evelyn turns and she is beginning to walk towards the door. She is about to open the door when Jayden’s strong arms grip her wrist.

She jerks away from him, facing him.”W.. What?” Her lips tremble badly, and she cannot speak adequately.

Jayden’s hands squeeze into tight fists, his face falls blank. He has run out of correct words to say. He is not used to telling people ‘sorry’. Evelyn is the first person he has ever given an apology to. Now, he is going to do it again. It is a very difficult task for him. How is he going to tell her ‘sorry’ again? Well, he just has to do it anyway.

“I am Jayden Turner. I am capable of doing anything,” He tells himself, boosting his confidence to apologize.

Jayden clears his throat, his forest green eyes boring into her eyes.

Her eyes are filled with hurt. He hates himself instantly. He really hates himself for blurting out those words to her. He hates her boyfriend for breaking her fragile heart. He feels like punching her boyfriend’s face, at the moment.

“I am sorry,” He finally mutters.”I am really sorry, Evelyn. I was so frustrated and tired, that is why I said those words to you. I hate not being able to control my mouth,”

Evelyn takes a deep breath, jerking her head in another direction. She is avoiding her boss’ intense contact. She hates that he is seeing her in a vulnerable and weak state.

“It is okay,” Evelyn mutters calmly. “I am also at fault. I understand that you were frustrated about the silly mistake I made. I am deeply sorry for making you lose such a great customer. I – ”

Jayden interrupts her, placing one of his fingers on his mouth.”Forget about it, Evelyn. It is gone already,” He rambles.

Evelyn gives a half-shrug, hating the way his fingers are on her mouth.

Seems like Jayden senses that, and he removes the finger from her mouth.

Evelyn moves an inch away from him.”Thank you, Mr. Jayden. I will still send the resignation letter to you. I am interested in working anymore. It is not because of what just happened, I just need a break from everything. It is nice working with you, even though you frustrated my life,” She blurts out and leaves his office, not sparing him a final glance.

Jayden stares at her intensely till she enters the elevator. Their eyes meet before the elevator door closes. They hold each other’s gaze until the elevator leaves.

Jayden also closes the door of his office and walks over to his seat. He slammed his hand on the desk. He has messed up completely.

But, he is still sure that his secretary will still come back to Turner Industries. She just needs time to get over the heartbreak.

Jayden picks up his phone from his desk. He is about to dial his personal assistant’s phone number when the door jerks open. Lo and behold, his assistant is the one. There is no need to call him anymore.

Joe really knows the perfect time to come to his boss’ office.

“How are you doing? Is everything okay, Mr. Arrogant CEO of Turner Industries?” Joe greets his boss in a mocking tone.

He walks over to his favorite space in the office and slumps on the couch.

“I was about to call your phone number,” Jayden tells him.

He also stands from his seat and walks over to where Joe is sitting down. He also sits down.

Joe’s brows snapped together.”What’s up? I saw your hot secretary, do you guys have another issue?” He asks.

Jayden shrugs.”We don’t have an issue though. It is about her boyfriend, the asshole broke her heart,” He mumbles, gritting his teeth together.

He feels like seeing Evelyn’s boyfriend, he wants to punch him so hard in the face.

Joe’s mouth curves into a wide smile.”Finally, this is the time for you to be your secretary’s heartthrob. You ought to be so happy, dummy. This is a chance for you to steal her heart like a thief. You are a thief, anyway. This calls for a fucking celebration,” He rambles, grinning from ear to ear.

Jayden shoots his friend a deadly glare.”What the hell are you talking about, Joe? What stupid chance? I am not even interested in Evelyn Jones. She is just my secretary, an educated idiot. Nothing less, nothing more,” He says.

“You just called Evelyn your secretary yet you skipped work because of her. You took your secretary to your house. Not even once, but twice. What the hell are you saying, dude? You…”

“Keep quiet, Joe,” Jayden snaps at his friend who is busy babbling nonsense into his ears.

“I am not done with you yet. Evelyn made you lose a good customer yet you didn’t get pissed off because of it,” He continues.

Jayden raises his eyebrows.”Who told you that I didn’t get pissed off? I said annoying words to Evelyn and she is really hurt. I am even worried about her,” He mutters under his breath.

Jayden immediately regrets saying his last words. He rubs his forehead with his palm. Now, his stupid friend who is sitting beside him is going to hold on to that sentence.

Joe’s eyes gleamed with delight.”The Jayden Turner I know will never get worried because he hurt any of his workers with his mean words. Tell me the truth, why are you worried about Evelyn Jones?” He questions his friend, staring at him with his eagle eyes.

Jayden let out a loud hiss. “You are an annoying pest. I think I hate you,” he says.

Joe smiles, still enjoying himself.”Tell me the truth even though it is very bitter or whatever. Do you like Evelyn Jones?” He asks bluntly.

Jayden glares at him. He walks over to his seat and sits down. He opens his laptop, trying hard not to ponder on the question annoying Joe just asked him.

“Do you like Evelyn Jones?”

That is a million-dollar question. He is not going to admit the truth to anyone.

How will he admit the truth to someone? He is not even ready to admit the answer to himself or he doesn’t even know the answer to the question…
