Chapter 190 Becoming The Assistant Of Ambrose
“What are you doing? Are you sick, or have you been using some extreme diet methods?” Aurelia gasped.
She has lost a lot of weight.
Nancy was delighted to see Aurelia but seemed somewhat listless. “I wasn’t on a diet. I didn’t have much appetite recently and was suffering from insomnia, so I’ve lost a bit of weight. It’s just about four kilograms, so it’s not that bad.”
“Insomnia?” Aurelia walked in, carrying a bag full of local specialties.
Having spent four years in university with Nancy, even sharing the same dormitory, she could say that Nancy was always carefree. It was hard to associate insomnia with her.
“Yeah, I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately, for some unknown reason, but it’s nothing serious. Come on, let me see what you’ve brought me. It’s been years since I last visited Kenfort,” Nancy said, not wanting her issues to affect Aurelia.
In reality, she didn’t have much of an appetite at the moment, nothing seemed appealing.
A thought struck Aurelia. “Are you pregnant? Have you gotten it checked out yet?”
Previously, Nancy mentioned that she was preparing for pregnancy, hoping to have a baby.
As he spoke, she simultaneously pulled out the local specialties from the bag.
Nancy’s expression stiffened at the word “pregnant“. She lowered her head, her attention seemingly focused on the local specialties in her hand, concealing the loneliness in her eyes. “I don’t think I’m
pregnant. Justin is too busy lately so much so he doesn’t even have time to come home. It’s been a while since we’ve had any intimacy.”
Naturally, I want to be pregnant but it’s impossible. How can I get pregnant on my own?
Aurelia frowned. “Has Mr. Hoffman been very busy lately?”
“Yeah, a lot is going on at the company. He traveled a lot for work. Actually, even back when I was in university, he was often away on trips, sometimes we didn’t even see each other for several months. Now that we’re married, he’s still just as busy as ever, but I feel insecure. It feels like he…”
Nancy suddenly realized what she had just said and instantly held her
tongue.
Auri has just got back from her vacation. This is a time of joy for her. I shouldn’t let my issues dampen her happiness.
Noticing Nancy was unwilling to elaborate, Aurelia didn’t press further. Instead, she asserted in a somewhat stern tone, “My entire afternoon is yours. Let’s go, I’ll take you to the hospital for a check–up. Then, we can have dinner together outside.”
Nancy wanted to refuse, but under Aurelia’s compelling gaze, she obediently followed her to the

hospital.
Thankfully, there weren’t any issues after seeing the doctor.

Furthermore, it subtly reminded Nancy not to overthink things and to get out more to socialize with others.
They decided to dine at the most expensive luxury buffet in the entire city of Jacaster.
“Seeing you, I feel alive again! Since when have I become someone who keeps everything bottled up inside? Starting today, the real Nancy is back! Justin can be as busy as he wants, but I’m going to work tomorrow!” Nancy decided to take a step forward.
The doctor had looked at her earlier as if she had a severe mental illness.
That gaze had struck her nerve.
Nancy was by nature an optimist. Yet, over the past few days, she had been obsessively wondering if Justin still held any affection for her.
Aurelia looked at the lively Nancy and chuckled. “Woohoo, I’m all for it! What kind of job are you looking for?”
“Hehe! Take a guess.” Nancy began to tease.
“I remember when we were in university, you mentioned wanting to be a celebrity manager or reporter. Does your new job have any connection to these fields?” Aurelia speculated.
Nancy hadn’t anticipated Aurelia’s guess to be so accurate. “After graduation, I stayed at home and never worked, which is why all my job applications were rejected. I didn’t even get a chance to interview. However, good things come to those who wait. My idol offered me a job opportunity!”
“Your idol?”
“Yeah, the famous actor, Mr. Stark, heard I was job hunting recently and mentioned he needed an assistant since his previous one had left to pursue other career plans, thus creating this vacancy,” Nancy explained.
Initially, she was hesitant about Ambrose’s invitation. After all, her family was against her working, arguing that it was strenuous and unnecessary since Justin was more than capable of providing for her.
Plus, she also cared deeply about what Justin thought.
However, she finally realized the gravity of the situation and that she needed to overcome the predicament after her recent insecurity and the meeting with the doctor.
Hence, she had accepted Ambrose’s offer.
Having the opportunity to watch my idol act up close, this job is simply fantastic!

Aurelia stood by Nancy’s decision. Seeing Nancy’s desire to alter her current circumstances, and having personally witnessed her present situation, Aurelia offered her even more support. “Congratulations to our Ms. Jackett on finding a job!”
Nancy’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “To think that I’ll be able to see Mr. Stark every day brings me so much joy. Mr. Stark truly is such a wonderful and gentle person.”
“Aw, Babe, I’d definitely congratulate you on being in a favorable position to gain special advantage if you weren’t married,” Aurelia teased.
The smile on Nancy’s lips froze momentarily before she nonchalantly said, “My admiration for Mr. Stark is more like that of a fan and respect for an elder. It’s sincere but different from how I feel about Justin. My feelings for Justin are those of adoration since childhood. I’m just unsure if he still feels the same way about me.”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Nancy suddenly realized she had let something slip.
Aurelia glanced sideways at Nancy. “Is there something going on between you and Mr. Hoffman?”
The doubts she quashed before had resurfaced again.
The echoes of a woman shouting “Mr. Hoffman” at the hot spring resort flashed through her mind again.
So, was that Mr. Hoffman referring to Justin?
Nancy was never one to be overly sensitive emotionally, but recently, she had been grappling with insecurity. Her mental state wasn’t at its best. Perhaps it wasn’t groundless.
“It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly happened. He’s been so busy recently that he hasn’t been home much in the past month. Even when he does come home, it’s just to glance at me and sleep before heading off to work the next day. We’ve both been so busy that we haven’t had much time. to talk, especially in the past ten days. He’s barely spoken to me or video–called me. I don’t know if I’m just being overly sensitive, but I can’t shake the feeling that he doesn’t seem to care about me as much as he used to. Lately, this feeling has been growing,” Nancy candidly voiced all her thoughts after she had inadvertently spilled the beans.
“Perhaps it was because I was home all day, bored out of my mind, that I overthought things. There were times when he was too busy to pay attention to me.”
As expected, when a woman’s whole world revolves around a man, she easily becomes prone to insecurity, even falling into self–doubt.
After some thought, Aurelia asked, “Have you tried looking for him at work?”
“I’ve been there, but he’s never at the office. He’s always too busy, constantly traveling for work and attending social events. My visits would only add to his burden and cause him trouble. Anyway, let’s drop this topic. I see an Atharian restaurant up ahead. It’s the one Justin used to take me to all the time. How about we skip the buffet and have dinner there instead?” Nancy suggested, pointing at the restaurant in the distance.
