Chapter 194 Do Not Act Like You Do Not Know Me

Hearing footsteps approaching from behind, Aurelia pulled out two bottles of yogurt from her shopping bag. She turned around and handed one over.

“Do you want a drink?”

Matthew took a glance.

It was peach–flavored, sugar–free yogurt.

He took both bottles, unscrewed the caps, and handed one to Aurelia.

Aurelia naturally accepted it and took a sip. “It’s really good,” she commented.

The scent of peaches, coupled with the rich aroma of yogurt, made every sip feel like

In his view, the taste was passable.

pure bliss.

After setting the yogurt aside, he joined Aurelia in transferring the items from the shopping bag into the refrigerator.

Aurelia felt a sense of security looking at the fully stocked fridge.

“It is filled to the brim!”

After washing his hands, Matthew settled down on the sofa.

Upon seeing that, Aurelia also went to wash her hands. She looked at Matthew, who was sitting on the sofa. Could it be that he has something to say to me?

After washing some fruit, she took a seat across from Matthew.

“Have some fruit first,” Aurelia suggested.

On the way back, they passed by a local market. The fruits they picked out there were all incredibly fresh.

Casually, Matthew picked up an apple, but didn’t eat it. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

Aurelia found herself unintentionally captivated by the sight of his hand holding an apple.

His fingers were long and straight, with rounded and clean nails. The wristwatch on his wrist. subtly accentuated the allure of his hands.

A scene uncontrollably surfaced in her mind.

His touch ignited her, inch by inch….

She dared not continue to look any longer, swiftly averting his gaze. Her attention was now solely. focused on the apple in his hand.

“When you saw me at the restaurant, didn’t you feel like coming up and claiming me as your husband?” Matthew asked.

Aurelia heard him, and her surprise was evident. “Claiming you?”

Have I misheard something?

“It seemed like we weren’t the focus earlier. The real crux of the matter revolved around Nancy and Mr. Hoffman.”

Moreover, when they were out, she had already gotten used to pretending she didn’t know him.

After all, even Nancy herself believed that they could never be together.

Matthew’s brow arched in displeasure, evidently unsatisfied with Aurelia’s response. “So, you’re good friends with Justin’s wife?”

“Yes, she is my best friend.”

A faint flicker danced in Matthew’s eyes as he took a bite of the apple. The crisp apple was incredibly sweet.

“You don’t have to pretend not to know me when we’re out in public in the future.”

Aurelia laughed. “Well, you don’t have to pretend not to know me when we’re out in public too.”

Hey, aren’t we the same?

There are tacit agreement on certain things between us.

Pretending to be strangers in public was truly a mutual understanding they both shared.

No one should point out each other’s flaws.

Matthew was speechless.

Aurelia glanced at the time. “I didn’t eat much at the restaurant, and I’m a bit hungry. I’m going to whip up some simple desserts. Would you like some?”

“Make me a portion too.”

“Alright.”

Initially, Matthew was reading a book on the couch when Aurelia was engrossed in preparing the dessert in the kitchen.

But he got up and walked over upon hearing the faint noise from the kitchen..

reminded of the photo that Jeremy had shown him not too long ago.

When Aurelia was restoring antique paintings, she was just as focused as she was now,

She probably didn’t realize that when she was engrossed in doing something, she was a completely different person than her usual self.

It seemed as though there was a certain kind of enchantment that prevented one from looking

away.

Matthew reached for a cigarette, and was about to light it with his lighter when Aurelia glanced at him.

Their eyes met.

A sudden shiver struck the heart of Matthew.

“It is almost ready,” Aurelia assumed that Matthew was eager to eat.

of the villa with a cigarette pinched between his fingers.

The villa’s door was open, and he stood and smoke in front of it.

As the smoke dissipated before his eyes, the emotions he had momentarily lost control of were once again suppressed.

Originally, Jeremy had set aside his afternoon and evening for Matthew and Justin.

The trio hadn’t hung out for a long time, and thought of meeting up that day.

However, both of them went home after encountering Aurelia and Nancy at the restaurant.

Tsk, isk. All he could do was return home out of boredom.

Even though they were engaged, he and his fiancée didn’t really have much to talk about.

Upon returning home, Norman happened to arrive with Chad, who was limping, and trailing

behind him.

“Didn’t you say you aren’t coming back today?” Norman glanced at his youngest son.

Jeremy said, “I had originally made plans with Matthew and Justin, but they had to leave due to some last–minute affairs.” He then turned his gaze towards Chad. “How come you came back with your grandpa?”

“From now on, he’ll accompany me to work every day. He claims that he wants to assist Aurelia.” Norman said. “There have been quite a few people approaching me, wanting Aurelia to take on their projects in the past few days. So, having someone by her side to help her is a good thing.”

Chad stood tall. “Uncle Jeremy, I have a myriad of merits, one of which is being a quick learner. I intend to learn well from Aurelia.”

He was certain he could learn a lot staying by Aurelia’s side.

“Dad, I don’t think his intentions are pure, working as Aurelia’s assistant,” Jeremy stated bluntly. “If he’s still harboring feelings for Aurelia, then he’s merely daydreaming.”

That day, Jeremy had personally witnessed Matthew’s attention for Aurelia. As for Justin, he feared that Nancy would discover his affairs with Gwendolyn. Therefore, he was in a hurry to return home to win her over.

But the only plausible explanation for Matthew’s urge to return home was that he had unknowingly fallen for Aurelia.

How could a woman who caught Matthew’s eye be coveted by other men?

Norman glanced back at Chad. “He wouldn’t dare to harbor any ill intentions. Aurelia is too smart, so she would see right through him. It will be his loss if Aurelia decides she no longer needs him.”

“If we can’t be lovers, can’t we at least be friends or siblings? Uncle Jeremy, you’d better keep your thoughts clean. Don’t harbor any thought you shouldn’t.” Hearing that, Chad cast a glance at Jeremy.

What the hell is this?

I am young and I have all the time in the world to wait for her!

If that man treated Aurelia well, he would definitely give his blessings. But if he didn’t, he’d better step aside soon.

He didn’t care much about those ills advice and kept these thoughts to himself.

There was no need for anyone to know.

Jeremy raised an eyebrow. “Have you gotten over it?”

“Hey, what could possibly be bothering a grown man like me?” Chad scoffed.

Suddenly, Norman turned his gaze towards Jeremy. “If you have the time, go and spend it with. Sylvia. You’re about to get married. What are you doing sitting around at home all day?”

He would thank his lucky stars if Jeremy could find the time to give him a granddaughter as talented and intelligent as Aurelia.

Jeremy hadn’t expected the tables to turn on him so abruptly.

He immediately headed towards the door. “I’m leaving. I just made plans with Sylvia, and we have a date tonight.”

At the hospital.

Aaron was scrolling through his social media feed, checking to see if Aurelia had replied to his

message.

Though he had anticipated it, he still felt uneasy within.

Has she forgotten that I am her older brother?

She has completely ignored me!

He didn’t believe that she hadn’t seen his private message.

At that moment, Benjamin and Spencer, both entered the hospital room with somber expressions.

Chapter 195 Pressuring Aurelia Together

Upon seeing Aaron alone in the ward, Benjamin asked, “Where’s Mel?”

“She had to help a friend with some issues,” Aaron responded. “I can manage things here by myself, don’t worry.”

Spencer was somewhat dissatisfied. “Mom is at a crucial stage of recovery, what friend could possibly be more important than her?”

Aaron frowned. “Our world doesn’t just revolve around Mom, you know. After the accident, Mel has been doing her best to take care of Mom. There’s no need to be so harsh on her. Don’t you all have your own matters to attend to as well?”

“Enough, let’s not argue at this time,” Benjamin said, feeling a wave of annoyance.

He glanced at Luna, who was sleeping on the bed.

His irritation only increased at the sight of her.

“I’m so frustrated! Why has everything gone wrong in our family recently? Issues at the company, problems with Mom… even my work isn’t going smoothly. Several roles that were supposedly mine have been reassigned. Now, I’m practically jobless!” Spencer voiced out his discontent.

He then sought out the director and the company but received little response. Either he wasn’t the right fit, or they suggested he take a break to refine his acting skills.

What a load of b*l!!

Aaron furrowed his brow. “Indeed, there’s been a lot going on at home lately, and my work hasn’t been going smoothly either.”

“The company won’t be able to hold on much longer. Dad and I are doing everything we can to keep it afloat, so we might not be able to take care of things at home. That’s why we have to bring Aurelia back now,” Benjamin said in a serious tone.

“Haven’t you all said you’ve figured out a way to bring her back?” Aaron had had enough by now.

He often took leave from work to take care of his mother. If she had appreciated it, that would have been fine. Unfortunately, she was discontented with him and was also displeased with Mel.

The staff at the company was also dissatisfied with him.

Under such circumstances, it was best for Aurelia to return.

“Let’s do it tomorrow,” Benjamin said coldly. “Tomorrow, we’ll bring the TV station’s reporters to find Aurelia. There’s a popular show recently where an expert who specializes in resolving various relationships will also come along. Under these circumstances, even if Aurelia is unwilling to come back, she will be obliged to. Since Mom also wants Aurelia to come back, then her return is

a must.”
