Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love

Chapter 153

Jorge took the files that Mikayla handed to him, flipped through the contents, then looked up at Mikayla, asking, "What's this?"

"You can take a closer look at the contents, Mr. Salvatore," Mikayla stood by, explaining.

"Isn't this our company's endorser?" Jorge noticed the familiar face.

"Yes, it's Lauren." Mikayla confirmed to her father.

"Wasn't Lauren always portrayed as healthy, lively, and positive?" Jorge couldn't believe what he saw in the pictures, completely contrasting his impression.

"Back then, when selecting an endorser, I remember I took part in the voting. There were several hot stars to choose from, and they were all beautiful. This girl was youthful and energetic. At that time, a few top executives and the board of directors had differing opinions, but eventually, she got chosen." Jorge recalled.

"People change! Just like Huxley seemed well-behaved as a child, yet things turned out differently," Mikayla pursed her lips.

Jorge closed the documents, walked towards his desk and gestured for Mikayla to sit. "How do you want to handle this?" He asked.

"I want to replace Lauren with a new face," Mikayla asserted confidently.

Jorge pondered for a few minutes. "I recall Lauren still has two years left on her contract, right?" he said.

"Yes. Exactly," Mikayla replied.

Jorge answered, "Lauren certainly won't give up our high endorsement fee, and our relationship is mutually beneficial. After Salvatore Group cooperated with her, a large number of fans were brought in and finally became our customers. How do you plan to explain this to the board of directors? They focus much on immediate benefits."

Mikayla smiled confidently. "I've already figured that out before coming to you."

"Good! Then I'll inform the board to convene a meeting tomorrow. Make sure you're well-prepared," Jorge answered and handed back the documents to Mikayla.

Mikayla took them and said, "Thank you, Mr. Salvatore!"

"By the way, Mikayla, I plan to assign Huxley to the product department. Do you have any objections?" Jorge asked.

"I respect your decision," Mikayla said and stood up. "I'll head back to the department to prepare some materials."

She knew that the situation with Huxley would eventually be resolved one day. Until then, she hoped Huxley would stay put in the product department.

"Sure," Jorge replied.

Exiting Jorge's office, Mikayla headed straight back to her own marketing department.

Quinnlyn brought her lunch at noon. Maxius had gone to the factory. Although there wasn't much work left, she had to manage her time well, knowing that she had only a few months left.

In the afternoon, all department members, except Maxius, held a small meeting to discuss future sales and software for computer implants, analyzing, selecting, and brainstorming ideas.

In the conference room, everyone enthusiastically shared their thoughts, discussing their interests and hobbies.

Quinnlyn took notes. Next, they would wait for Taylor to present a report on users' preferred color of the appearance of the new computer and what technological breakthroughs they hoped to see. There were staff recording videos for future promotional purposes. Then after Maxius returned, Mikayla will further discuss the details with him before finalizing everything.

Although it seemed like just a small meeting, by the time it ended, it was nearly time to wrap up for the day.

Sorting out the documents and materials needed for tomorrow's board meeting, Quinnlyn made extra copies as backups.

Time really fled.

Heading downstairs, Carlos had been lazily leaning against the modest Ford car, waiting for quite some time.

Carlos opened the passenger door for Mikayla and shielded her head as she entered on the driver's side.

"Carlos, if you ever find yourself without a job, I'll hire you as my full-time driver," Mikayla remarked. This driver was indeed quite competent. Carlos fastened his seat belt, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. "Then you're in luck! I don't need your salary. I want your body instead." "How did you spend your previous thirty-two years without a woman, Carlos?" Mikayla asked.

"You wouldn't want to know." Carlos's smile broadened further. This man was truly captivating, and his every move was exuding allure.

Upon hearing this, Mikayla recalled what Juliet had mentioned to her before. She said when a man reached his sexual awakening age but didn't have a girlfriend, usually they would do certain things.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Thinking of this, she believed that she was definitely being misled.

"Won't visit Mr. Saggio," Mikayla said.

Carlos abruptly hit the brakes, pulling over to the side of the road.

"You said we don't need to go to visit Lorenzo?" Carlos asked to double-check.

Mikayla nodded, biting her lip. "No, we don't. I think my foot is almost healed."

She could tell whether her body was improving or worsening. She felt significantly better in the last couple of days and even wore slightly heeled shoes today. She felt no pain all day long.

Carlos glanced down at her foot, suppressing his inner impatience, and said, "Let's still go there." The car engine roared back to life.

Meanwhile, at the Septem Nightclub.

Mikayla had been working for half a

day already, while Juliet was flipping around, still sleepy and not wanting

to get out of bed. She had

completely forgotten where she was and was sleeping soundly.

Juliet usually had nothing to do in the daytime and slept late at night. She tended to sleep through the mornings, only getting active in the afternoons. Waking up to the rumbling of her stomach, she slowly sat up.

Drowsily opening her eyes, she looked around and only then remembered what happened the night before.

The entire room was in a state of destruction from the previous night, with broken glass all over the floor There was a gaping hole in the wall where the LCD screen used to be, and the air carried a strong smell of alcohol.

S

"Damn it," she murmured.

She had no idea how she'd fallen asleep. It seemed like she might have fallen at some point, unable to distinguish between dream and reality. Glancing at where Elvis sat last night, Juliet noticed he was nowhere to be seen. She had no idea when he had left.

Suddenly feeling a slight pain in the palm of her hand, she lifted it to find two dried blood streaks she didn't remember getting.

Juliet rubbed her head trying to recollect but couldn't figure out what had happened.

Putting on her shoes, she went to

the bathroom in the private room, quickly tidied her hair that had been slept on all night, and adjusted her clothes She never slept still, but thankfully, her makeup from

ver

yesterday wasn't heavy. Otherwise, how she woke up from sleep might have been too scary even for herself.

Taking out a minty gum from her bag and popping it into her mouth, she chewed twice. Then she pulled out her lipstick and applied it. She instantly felt more put together.

Without the comparison of a good friend, Juliet was actually quite satisfied with her appearance. She could consider herself a beauty.

After a brief self-assessment, she left the bathroom. As she did, the door to the private room was pushed open from the outside.
