Chapter 159
The four women were chatting in front of the sink while applying foundation and makeup. The laughter fell into silence when they saw Mikayla coming out from behind.
There was no expression on Mikayla's delicate face. However, it emitted invisible pressure.
The four women hurriedly packed up their things and were ready to find an excuse to leave.
Mikayla said, "You were talking about me, weren't you?" Actually, this was not a question, but an affirmation.
"No! We didn't say anything." One of the women shook her head wildly.
Mikayla washed her hands and turned to look at the four women with their heads down. "Who said that I was caught cheating before marriage?"
After a few minutes of silence, a woman stepped forward. "It's me!"
"Who told you the rumor?" Mikayla asked briefly in a light voice.
"I... I don't know! I heard it when I was gossiping." The woman stammered to explain.
"Give me your work cards and go back to work." Mikayla's words were very ruthless.
Although the four women were reluctant, they didn't dare to resist.
After all, Mikayla was not only the head of the company's marketing department but also the daughter of the Salvatore family.
The women put their work cards on the sink and left.
Mikayla looked at the cards and picked them up. Then she went back to the marketing department without lingering.
She went directly to Quinnlyn and put the four cards on her desk. "Inform the heads of these four people that the four want more work because they are bored."
Mikayla would never tolerate those who loved to chat and gossip during working hours.
She added, "Ah, check who spread the recent rumors about me in the company and which department he or she belongs to!"
"Okay, Ms. Salvatore." After finishing her work, Quinnlyn began to dial the numbers as soon as she found out who was in charge of the four women. After a nutritious lunch delivered by Carlos, Mikayla rested in her office.
Mikayla was woken up by a sudden phone call.
Seeing the number that she still remembered, Mikayla really wished to have a bad memory.
Mikayla hesitated and hung up.
She had nothing to say to Jaxon, and she didn't want to have any other contact with him except that he was her cousin's husband.
The phone didn't ring again, but there was a text message.
Jaxon: [It's for business!]
Mikayla wondered, 'What kind of business could we have? I'm mainly engaged in Inte-related products, but he is in real estate... It's completely irrelevant.'
Mikayla wasn't given too much time to guess it before the phone rang again.
Mikayla picked it up.
"Mikayla!" The long-lost voice sounded on the other end of the phone.
"What's up?" Mikayla's voice was obviously distant.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Mikayla, are you so strange to me now?" Hearing Mikayla's voice, Jaxon was no longer as excited and anticipating as before. His heart seemed to be grabbed by something, which made him uncomfortable.
"Jaxon, you are my cousin-in-law now! Do you still want me to be passionate about you?" Mikayla smiled sarcastically and said, "If that's all you want to say, I'll hang up."
Jaxon said, "Let's have dinner tonight! I have something to tell you in person."
Mikayla opened the window blinds and looked at the glimmer of sunshine outside. "Just talk on the phone!"
The last time they met alone was
two days before Jaxon's wedding. He asked her out with evil

intentions... Luckily, Carlos got there in time. Otherwise, the
consequences would be

unthinkable.
Jaxon said directly, "Seven o'clock tonight at Lugrea Restaurant on East Mountain Road! Come alone. I'll see you there."
After saying that, Jaxon hung up the phone, not giving Mikayla any chance to refuse.
Mikayla frowned slightly. She thought, 'Jaxon seems to be sure that I have to go.'
In her spare time in the afternoon, Mikayla thought twice and called Carlos.
"Carlos, Jaxon asked me to have dinner with him tonight for business." She didn't want to hide anything from Carlos.
Carlos said, "I'll go with you."
Mikayla heard someone else's voice beside Carlos. She said, "He wanted me to go alone."
Carlos said, "If you want to go there, send me the address. I'll ask someone to protect you outside."
"Okay. I'll go by myself after work. You don't have to pick me up." She didn't refuse Carlos because she did not want what had happened last time to happen again.
Carlos said, "Okay! I have something else to do. I'll hang up now!"
Then the phone was hung up. Just now, Mikayla heard someone calling Carlos' name over there quite politely.
Without thinking too much, Mikayla
looked at the clock. It was only 4
p.m. After sending Carlos a

Jaxon still had feelings for Mikayla now. After all, there were sweet memories between them. Mikayla was sure that she didn't have the same feelings for Jaxon. However, she had been with him for so many years. If she wanted to let go of him completely, it would take time or she had to find another person to fill the gap.
In fact, Jaxon had always wanted to go back to the past with her, which was impossible.
They made an appointment at 7 p.m., but it was already 7 p.m. when Mikayla got out of the company. She completely forgot the time when she was immersed in a planning scheme.
She arrived at the Lugrea Restaurant ordered by Jaxon at 7:30 p.m.
When the waitress saw Mikayla come in, she asked with a smile, "Miss, may I help you?"
"I'm looking for a table booked by Mr. Jaxon Lindstrom," said Mikayla.
The waitress said, "It's Mr. Jaxon Lindstrom, right? Please follow me."
Under the guidance of the waitress, Mikayla saw Jaxon sitting in his seat in a suit and leather shoes.
Seeing her coming, Jaxon stood up and pulled out the chair for Mikayla.
After they sat down, Jaxon ordered the waitress, "Please serve the food!"
"Yes, sir," the waitress replied.
Mikayla glanced at the hall and found two men in black suits sitting at the dining table not far away from them, looking over from time to time. She had already guessed that they were men of Carlos.
Jaxon was so obsessed with Mikayla that he didn't notice it at all. For half an hour after 7 p.m., Jaxon was so worried that she would not come. "What's the matter?" Mikayla felt extremely uncomfortable as she saw Jaxon kept looking at her. She hoped he could finish his words sooner and she could leave.
She didn't want to waste time on some things, such as her relationship with Jaxon.
If he hadn't said that he wanted to see her about work, she would never have come.
