Chapter 97
en tries to act nonchalant when Elise tells him that Ethan’s father will be at the summit and that the alpha identity turns out to be someone so unexpected and powerful.
“What?” He was perplexed by her confession.
He knew one day they’d talk about who Ethan’s true father was, but he never knew it’d be now, especially to say it was someone coming to the summit, and not just anyone but Rygan. ka’al Andras.
But Hayden was so angry at the fact that those monsters, Kaide and Alvira, could treat such a beautiful soul as Elise as a criminal, and she was abandoned to fend for herself; he wanted to
kill them.
“The Black Moon Pack,” she starts with a light caress on Hayden’s face as he quietly listens. “That was where I was given refuge after my first mating failed,” she starts.
She tells him her story, from what happened to her mother and then becoming a slave in Kyren’s hands to when she met Rygan in that dark cell and how he saved her. They were practically bonded. He couldn’t help a bitter twinge of jealousy rush through, but he didn’t say anything against it.
Hayden listened to all of it, his heart breaking for Elise, angry that she’d gone through all this because of these people. “And that’s how I ended up here,” he concluded.
“I’ll kill them all for what they did to you; forget the summit; I cannot sit with those bastards. from the Silver Night, Dark Night, and Black Moon Pack after what’s happened to you, Elise; I cannot stand it,” he says in a painful whisper.
Her heart skipped a beat, seeing how much Hayden was affected and angry on her behalf, as she joined their lips together in a sweet kiss, leaving their foreheads joined as she took deep breaths.
“From all I went through, I’m still thankful for some experience; I got to know love and heartbreak; I got to meet my boy Ethan; and I got to meet you; you made me believe I could trust again; and I’m sorry for making you wait so long,” she bellows.
“You and Ethan are my everything, and Rygan does not deserve your forgiveness or our allyship; let all the world burn if I care,” he snarls. But Elise couldn’t help the shiver from Rygan’s name when she thought of him. Will seeing him affect her, even though her marks are gone?
She shakes her head at the thought of it; she needs to stop thinking about those gray eyes that could peer into her soul with just one glance.
“Come on, Hayden, for now, let’s see how we can stop those humans from attacking innocents too,” she called. Hayden peered up at her, their gazes locking as he stared into her blue eyes; they felt like a star pool he wanted to swim into. And it did the work by cooling his
temper.
“Well, our spies have told me that months before the attack, even years
be e, humans had begun going missing, especially near the Black Moon borders, all because of the wicked rampage of their king.” he continued.
“It is odd because before the war, the Black Moon Pack was the only pack that stood behind us in not killing innocent humans, but now their alpha did this,” he cursed with a spiteful hiss.
Elise wonders if the serial killing had something to do with sparking the rage of the humans. who retaliated to avenge their people, and now everyone is being affected too. Only if she’d known the reason Rygan had begun killing them was because of her.
“It still doesn’t make sense how those humans found us, but we are still getting to the root of that,” he explains to Elise, who combs his hair out of his face.
For a moment, she fell silent in thought. “The veils can only be broken by the long–closed secrets of the Calhan pack; unless someone we know tells them, there is no way that this could be… I’m sorry, but Holden-”
“I suspected him too, but my brother was found wounded by the gates, attacked by the human, so I’m still not sure; it would break Abby’s heart,” Hayden explains.
He looked up to see a look of love and admiration in Elise’s gaze; she could see the respect he still had for his brother, even though Holden had rebelled against him for years now. Her hands reach up to caress his chin.
“What?” He whispers lovingly.
“It’s just how amazing you are, how you care so deeply, and how you proved yourself time and time again to your pack and our people; you are their alpha and mine too, and the Black Moon and the Dark Knight alphas can’t change that,” she mutters.
“I do not care what Rygan Andras wants, or if he finds out, you are mine; Ethan is our son,” he whispered as he gave her a deep kiss, assuring her of his trust and love for her. But he couldn’t help wondering: would Rygan or Ethan feel that strong bond between them?
After their much–needed talk, she goes out to the town, seeing the buildings were almost fully reconstructed and the destruction by the gates has been well dealt with.
And even as their pack was quiet, she could tell everyone was still walking on eggshells. wondering if there would be another attack. There was a mass burial to be held later for the fallen, and Elise couldn’t help feeling her heart heavy from it.
Elise heads to Abby’s home to take Ethan. She meets the scene of her son eating a plate of a fresh batch of cookies Abby had whipped up. She walks over to kiss her son on the head before taking a seat by the counter.
“Hello, Abby,” she calls calmly. The older female smiles at her, but her face instantly drops when she sees something worrying in Elise’s gaze.
“Ethan? Why don’t you go play with your coloring book, baby?” Abby instructs Ethan, who immediately goes to get his coloring pencil, before she turns back to Elise.
“What’s wrong?”
“I told Hayden who Ethan’s father is,” she says curtly. Abby stops chopping the vegetables and fully turns to Elise.
“And what did he say?”
“God, Abby, I don’t think I deserve him. What did I do to get such an amazing and accepting male as my partner? He’s so supportive of everything,” she sniffled out, but I still can’t help feeling weird.”Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
“There is a summit between all packs, and I’m sure that the Black Moon Pack will be in attendance. I knew one day the truth of my survival would come out about everything, but I’m still stunned and I still have doubts.”
Abby nods in understanding before she rounds the counter, pulling Elise into a hug. “You are so strong for coming this far, and Hayden is proud and honored that you chose him,” Abby
says.
“I have known that boy since he was born; he’s never loved anyone like you. He loves you both and will stand for you,” she assures, and Elise knew that was true because he’s shown it so many times, even as far as taking a bullet that almost killed him.
That memory of his blood all over her made her shudder in horror. She knew a summit was needed to stop the humans and protect her pack
The night breeze slides under the sheets of Elise and Hayden’s cooling bodies after another round of sex; their bodies are now left sated as Elise stands up, ties a robe, and walks out the balcony.
Hayden follows a second after he wraps his hand around her waist, his broad chest to her small back, and his head resting on her dainty shoulder.
“A penny for your thoughts, angel?” He whispered, biting her earlobe and causing a shiver down her spine.
“We will be at the summit in a few days,” she starts as they intertwine their hands together. “What mask should I put on?” she couldn’t help wondering. Should she show that cold, ruthless side of herself? Or be the old El?
“Yourself, your strong, beautiful self, ready to face those bastards head–on, and I’ll be at your side, ready to snap anyone’s neck who defies you,” he says with a kiss to her nape.
She knew from his words that he could do it, but he wouldn’t do it without her consent. But her mind was made up; she was going to the summit and was going to meet the people who had all ruined her life.
A reunion that none of them would ever forget.
