Chapter 31
Isabel subconsciously held Anderson's arm, leaning against him and touching him intentionally.
"It's my first time attending a parent-teacher meeting as Mayra's sister-in-law. Do you think I look nice in this outfit? I don't want to embarrass Mayra." She thought too highly of Mayra when she said that.
After all, she was the daughter of a jewelry company's CEO and Belchester's most prominent socialite. Even if she was dressed in tatters, she had no equal in terms of status. Moreover, she had an excellent fiancé.
It would take them two and a half hours to get to Belchester from Candor City. The parent-teacher meeting began at noon. If they rushed there now, they would be able to arrive on time.
Mayra, who was still asleep in Belchester City, was awakened by another nightmare. In her dream, she was in complete darkness. She could feel herself buried in the ground, suffocating. She tried to wake up several times but couldn't.
She didn't know how long she struggled in her dream. Finally, she noticed a glimmer of light and heard someone shout her name. She felt the weight of the soil on top of her becoming lighter as time passed.
Someone had found her and dug her out of the ground. To her surprise, she saw Anderson's sad eyes.
Mayra saw Anderson, who was in his 50s, dressed in an expensive black suit. His hands were covered in blood. He hugged her skeleton tightly as if he was grieving the loss of an important treasure.
When she woke up, she clasped her hand over her chest and felt tears flowing down her cheeks. She felt her heart aching.
But it was only a dream. Why did she have such a strong reaction? She felt as if everything in her dream was real. She couldn't believe it. That was impossible. It couldn't be real. It was only a dream!
In her previous life, Anderson had already married Isabel and had a child. Why did he still remember her? She did numerous horrible things to Isabel and even harmed her.
Anderson hated her so badly. How could he have such a strong reaction after knowing that she had died? After all, he was the one who gave her away to that pervert Lucian.
He should have had a peaceful life with Isabel after she died. Nobody would bother them anymore. Mayra then realized that today was her birthday. She decided to spend it with Gordon.
She hurriedly wiped away her tears and got up to take a shower. She also purposefully wore the most stunning dark dress in her closet.
Her legs were slender and fair. Even without makeup, she could show her youthful and attractive features. She was carrying a canvas backpack that contained her phone and exercise books for various subjects.
When Mayra went downstairs, she saw Gordon. She wasn't sure how long he had been waiting. When she approached him, she realized that his jaw was on the floor. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
She smiled at him. "Gordon, do I look good?"
Why did he remain as cowardly as in his previous life? Did he like her that much? Gordon turned away awkwardly, but his ears were flushed.
At the same time, Anderson and Isabel were approaching the school gates. However, because of heavy traffic, their Maybach could only inch forward.
Shane then got a call from the school. He hung up after only a few words, saying, "Mr. Barlow, Ms. Sadler isn't at school today."
