Revenge is Best Served… After Reborn

Sophie finished reading the letter, a soft smile spreading across her face. She could almost picture Reece as he penned those words. Late at night, with the city outside buzzing with lights and life, a mix of glitz, glamour, and mischief. But to Reece, it was all just a mess of dirt and injustice. He must have been sitting at his desk, writing this as though it were his last goodbye, his usual cool smile firmly in place. He probably even had a hunch that they'd soon be expecting a baby. What a clever guy he was.

Sophie carefully folded the letter and the bank card, tucking them safely away. This might just be the only thing Reece left behind in this world.

Upstairs, Jenna came rushing out with little Ethan in her arms. "He peed! What am I supposed to do?"

Jenna looked genuinely flustered, not putting on an act at all. Sophie slipped the envelope into her pocket and said, "Jenna, you're going to be a mom now. Can't you try to be a bit more composed?"

"I can't stay calm! I just can't! I don't even get how he managed to wet the bed!" Jenna was on the verge of a meltdown. Being a mom was nothing like she'd imagined.

"Aren't Colby and Adler out buying diapers? Honestly, Jenna, you're lost without Adler, aren't you?" Sophie shook her head, half amused, half exasperated. Though she wasn't a mom herself, she was getting an early taste of motherhood thanks to Jenna. "Sophie, don't you think with all the fancy tech The Silent Shadows developed, they could've come up with something to stop babies from crying? Or maybe a fast-forward button for time? They're always talking about rebirth-why not speed up time too?"

"Jenna, you can't be serious!" Sophie finally understood what they meant by 'baby brain.' She couldn't believe such words were coming from the usually sharp Jenna.

Before long, Adler and Colby were back. Jenna looked like she'd just spotted a lifeline. "You're finally back! Quick! He peed!"

Adler quickly took the baby, soothing

little Ethan, and noticed that Sophie had already changed the diaper. "I get someone to switch out the. sheets right away. Don't cry, don't cry!" he said, more to Jenna than Ethan.

Sophie just rubbed her forehead, trying not to laugh. Colby and Adler had gone out with a pickup truck

and returned with it fully loaded. The security guard downstairs was busy wheeling in all the baby goods they'd practically cleaned out from the store.

Sophie and Jenna were both gobsmacked at the sight of all the baby supplies. Jenna asked, "Why did you buy so much?"noveldrama

"Is it too much? I don't think so. I did the math. Babies need changing ten times a day, so 200 packs isn't too crazy," Adler explained, pointing at Colby. "Most of this is thanks to Colby He bought every little dress, Barbie doll-anything the store had, he cleared it all out. I got 200 packs, he got 600, so the store's out of stock."

Hearing about Colby's shopping escapades, Sophie turned to him with a playful eyebrow raise. "You bought all that?"

"Well, honey, we'll need it eventually," Colby shrugged.

"But the baby isn't due for another ten months! What's the point of buying so much now?" Sophie couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
