Revenge Of The Jilted Bride (Ophelia)

Chapter 349

COMMENT

The heavy iron door of the dungeon clattered loudly.

Phoebe kept pounding it again and again, her voice hoarse. "I want to see my father. I want to see my father."

The two bodyguards on duty immediately reported the situation to Fiona. Before Chloe left, she instructed that Phoebe be watched closely to prevent any mistakes.

When Phoebe saw Fiona, a murderous glint flashed in her eyes, but her expression quickly softened. She held onto the iron door pitifully, trying to reach out to grab Fiona but pulled her hands back, tears filling her eyes. She begged, "Fiona, please let me out, okay? I was just confused for a moment. Look at me. I've already been punished. Can you forgive me?"

Fiona frowned as she walked forward, looking at Phoebe. Her outstretched hand was dirty with grime under her nails, her clothes were torn, and there were scratches on her arms.

She was truly different from before, hardly better than a beggar on the street.

Fiona replied, "It's not about whether I forgive you or not now." Her forgiveness was pointless.

Phoebe said, "I know, but you've always been by my dad's side, assisting Jonathan and Emma. Could you tell my dad about my situation? I have something important to tell him. I'm begging you, I'll kneel to you." As she spoke, Phoebe knelt on the ground, bowing her head repeatedly to Fiona, making her forehead red.

Seeing Phoebe like this, Fiona felt a twinge of compassion, thinking, 'Since things are like this now, she seems to pose no threat. She's probably reaching out to Mr. Davidson just to save herself! After all, Phoebe used to be very kind to her when they were together.

"I'll let him know," Fiona said.

"Can I talk to my dad?" Phoebe pleaded, a large red bump on her forehead, looking at Fiona with innocent eyes. She couldn't wait any longer.

"Alright," Fiona sighed and called Cheney, the head of the Davidson family. "Mr. Davidson, Ms. Phoebe Davidson would like to speak with you."

Phoebe couldn't hear what was said on the other end, but soon, Fiona handed her the phone.

With trembling hands, she took the phone and blurted out in a hoarse, choked voice, "Dad, someone might be trying to ruin your chance. Emma got my DNA sample."

If her guess was correct and the Davidson family really adopted her to eventually replace Xander's daughter, Cheney should be the one worried now.

As expected, Cheney's eyes sharpened behind his glasses. "Who did you say got your sample?"

"It was..." Phoebe started to explain, but the phone was snatched away by Fiona.

237. 237.

"Mr. Davidson." Fiona wanted to explain.

The voice on the other end of the phone was cold, "Have you guys found Emma?"

Fiona's silence was the best answer.

"Hand the phone to Phoebe, Cheney ordered.

Fiona handed the phone back to Phoebe, frowning and thinking I really shouldn't have softened and let her speak to Mr. Davidson. It's likely Ms. Emma Davidson's whereabouts won't remain hidden for long. Cheney sighed on the other end, "So you know everything?"

A flash of understanding appeared in Phoebe's eyes. She had guessed correctly after all.

As she spoke, tears streamed down her cheeks. Her voice was choked with sobs. "Dad, I did something wrong before and upset Emma and Jonathan.

"Now he has locked me in a dungeon. You're the one who adopted me, and my life belongs to you. If you want me to die today, I'll have no reason to live, but Dad..."

She paused. "I understand your intentions. If I die, I can't help you. I am willing to do anything for the Davidson family."

Cheney laughed, "Okay, I'll have someone bring you back. Also, what's this about the DNA sample? What's going on?"

"I'm not really sure. Emma came to take it with some people." Anyway, everything she said was true.

Cheney made a sound in response, feeling the need to investigate it.

In the villa behind the hospital, Ophelia sat on a chair, tightly holding Kenneth's hands, her head resting by his bedside. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.

The room's door was knocked on twice. No one responded from inside.

Ronin took a deep breath and quietly snuck into the hospital room like a thief.

Seeing Ophelia sleeping peacefully, he let out a sigh of relief. It seemed like the sleeping pills he slipped into the milk worked.

She had only slept two hours over the past few days. She really needed to rest.

Ronin tiptoed over to Ophelia, hardly daring to breathe. Seeing her sleeping soundly, he felt an incredible sense of serenity.

Tilting his head, he hoped Ophelia was his sister, so he could give her the best of everything.

He carefully reached out to pluck a strand from her coiled hair, when suddenly, a voice sounded from behind.

"Dr. West, what are you doing?" Melanie walked in, looking over curiously, wondering what Ronin was doing with Ophelia. Melanie frowned, her expression becoming serious as her eyes narrowed.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

She wondered, 'Is Dr. West having some inappropriate thoughts about Mrs. Sinclair while Mr. Sinclair is in a coma?'

Just by looking at the range of expressions on Melanie's face, Ronin knew she was overthinking it. He thought, 'What does she take me for-some sort of villain?'

"I just came to take a look," he sighed, concealing the hair he'd accidentally pulled out in his sleeve. Under Melanie's abnormally intense gaze, he exited the room.

Melanie watched him cautiously until he was out of sight. She then returned to the room and covered the sleeping Ophelia with a blanket.

Ronin let out a deep breath at the end of the hallway. He took out the two strands of hair he'd just plucked and placed them in a sealed bag. This was truly challenging. He was nearly suspected of doing something evil.

He thought, 'With such an upright appearance, how could I look suspicious?

"Dr. Ronin, I've been looking for you! Here's your international package. A nurse came over.

"Alright," Noah said as he took the package from the nurse and opened it. Inside, there was also a sealed hair sample and a vial of blood.

He had to hurry and send both items for DNA analysis. The results would likely be out by tomorrow morning.

Ronin tossed and turned all night. Their sister wasn't dead, and if they really found her, the atmosphere at home should improve. It might even ease the tension between their parents. He thought, 'If Elia really is my sister, I'll have to be careful not to scare her. Will she be happy knowing she has a family?"
