Chapter 464
The lights dimmed, and the music began.
The first model walked down the runway. She wore the gown I had carefully designed. The delicate green lace and the sheer fabric, like a veil of mist, perfectly highlighted her graceful figure.
Gasps of awe echoed from the audience. I couldn't help but smile. This was just the beginning.
Each subsequent dress caused waves of cheers and applause. The fusion of vintage and avant-garde styles, and the blending of Easton elements with Weston aesthetics, showcased a unique fashion inspiration that belonged to me. The final gown was even more spectacular. The applause was deafening. But I didn't care. I had grown accustomed to the sound of applause. Yet, at that moment, these cheers meant nothing to me.
Just then, a commotion broke outside the venue. Curious, I turned to see what was happening.
There, walking in with elegant strides, was Ethan in a black tuxedo, accompanied by none other than a poised and graceful woman. She was holding onto his arm and exuded an air of elegance and confidence. Seeing this, my breath caught in my throat.
Though I had endured pain before, I didn't have the full picture then. I even thought I was simply overthinking things. But now, I was seeing it with my own eyes.
Was she Vivian Albright, the one Tony had mentioned?
Ethan brought her here? Was this his deliberate way of announcing their engagement?
After all, he must have known that today was my show. It was clear that bringing her was no coincidence.
Frozen, I stared as Ethan made his way toward me. When he reached me, a meaningful smile curled on his lips as he said, "I told you I wouldn't miss your show, didn't I?"
I clenched my jaw and forced a smile. "Yes, Mr. Grayson. I didn't expect you to keep your word."
My eyes instinctively moved to the woman beside him. "And this is..."
Vivian smiled politely and extended her hand. "Hello, Ms. Wiley. I'm Vivian Albright, Ethan's friend." Friend? More like fiancée!
I held back my discomfort and shook her hand politely. "So you're Mr. Grayson's friend. My apologies."
Ethan seemed to notice my unease. He leaned in and whispered in my ear, "If you have something to say, we can talk later. Let's greet the media first."
I nodded helplessly. At that moment, I had no choice but to plaster on a smile and maintain my composure in front of everyone.
The next few hours were a whirlwind
met
of interviews and photo ops. Reporters surrounded me relentlessly, leaving me no time to breathe. Only after the last guest had left did I finally get a chance to
catch my breath.
Just as I was about to remove my makeup, Ethan suddenly grabbed my hand. Startled, I tried to pull away. "What are you doing?"noveldrama
He didn't respond. He simply held
my hand tightly as he yanked me toward the exit. He tugged me along, causing me to stumble as I asked, "Where are you taking me? Let go of met Or else... I'll punch you
He ignored my struggles and tugged me toward a garden outside the venue. Gradually, I stopped resisting.
The night was tranquil, and the moonlight cast a soft glow. The only sounds were the chirping of insects and our breathing.
Ethan released my hand and turned to face me. "Evelyn, there's something I need to tell you."
I avoid his intense gaze. "If you're here to talk about your engagement, there's no need. I already know. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness in advance."
He froze, then a wry smile appeared on his lips. "Engagement? What did Vivian tell you?"
I scoffed. "It wasn't her. It was Tony.
Your relationship with Vivian is already well-known in the
community. Marriage for business. What's so difficult to admit about that? And honestly, you two make a perfect match, don't you think?"
