Rewriting My Heart's Fate

Chapter 497

Ethan held me tightly and kissed me passionately. Passersby glanced at us and whispered among themselves, but I didn't care anymore.

All I wanted was to embrace the man I loved. Even if the world were coming to an end, I would never let him go.

Ethan and I ran all the way to the courthouse. After a simple ceremony, we received our marriage certificate. Just like that, I became Ethan's wife, and he became the pillar of support for the rest of my life. As we walked out of the courthouse, I clung tightly to him. I felt so happy that I could almost faint.

"Honey, let's go home," I said.

Ethan paused for a moment. Then, he flashed the brightest smile I had ever seen. "Sure, my darling. Let's go home."

After our marriage, Ethan and I grew even closer. He spoiled me almost every day. He treated me like the center of his world and ensured I had everything I wanted.

Wrapped in the warmth of our bliss, I believed our future would be nothing less than perfect.

One night, as we lay in bed, Ethan held me close and whispered softly in my ear, "Evelyn, have you ever thought about having a baby?"

I froze. I frantically pushed him away. "N-No... We've only just gotten married..."

Ethan frowned. He was visibly displeased. "Why not? You're my wife. Isn't it only natural for you to bear me a child?"

His words made me uneasy. Could he be thinking of using a child to bind me to him completely?

The word pregnancy alone dredged up painful memories from my past life. Back then, Ethan and I had been overjoyed to discover I was pregnant. I had cherished the tiny life growing inside me with utmost care.

I couldn't bring myself to face that kind of pain again in this life. I was terrified of pregnancy, terrified of losing a child once more. I feared that having a child might entangle me further with Ethan, making it impossible to let go. "We should wait. The company is at a critical stage right now." I tried to find an excuse.

But Ethan wasn't having it. He pressed on relentlessly. His tone grew sharper. "Wait? For what? You just don't want to have any children, do you?"

His darkened expression sent a chillnoveldrama

through me. Anger flared in me, and I snapped. "That's right! I don't want to have a child! What of it? You can't force me!"

Ethan's expression changed. Suddenly, he pushed me down onto the bed forcefully.

"What are you doing? Let me go!" I struggled in alarm. But he held me fast and ignored my protests as he pressed his lips to mine.

Terror surged through me as I fought to free myself. I thrashed with all my might. But his strength was overwhelming. I couldn't break free.

Soon, my clothes were being torn away. "No... don't..." I sobbed. Tears were streaming down my face.

Ethan didn't stop. His hands roamed my body, igniting a fire I didn't want.

"This is exactly what I want. I'll make sure you carry my child tonight. Then you'll never leave me."

Before I could protest further, he removed the last barrier between us. Shame and despair consumed me as I turned my face away. Tears blurred my vision.

"It's not the right time..." I choked out and pleaded weakly.

"It's too late," he said with a wicked smile and surged forward.

Pain ripped through me like a bolt of lightning, leaving me breathless. screamed. The agony was

unbearable. My mind was teetering on the brink of collapsing.

But Ethan showed no mercy.

"Ethan, you monster..." I sobbed and pounded my fists against his chest weakly. Tears streamed silently down my face as my heart turned cold.

Perhaps I would never escape him. When it was over, I lay there completely drained. I was unable to move even a finger. Ethan tugged me into his arms and kissed me on the forehead.

"Darling, I love you."
