Chapter 1218

Annie stared blankly at Steven, who stood outside the elevator. For a moment, she didn’t register what her assistant, Emma Pierce, was saying and completely forgot to step out of the

elevator.

Just as the elevator doors were about to close, Emma quickly pressed the button to reopen them. Steven maintained a calm demeanor and slightly turned to the side, allowing Annie and

Emma to exit.

His tranquility helped Annie regain her composure.

“What a coincidence,” she smiled as she spoke. Steven nodded in acknowledgment.

Noticing his indifferent expression, Annie’s smile faltered, becoming somewhat stiff. Emma nudged her to walk out.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped outside.

After exiting, Annie couldn’t help but glance back at Steven in the elevator. He didn’t look at her. His expression was as cold as ever, causing a sharp pain in her chest.

Over the past few years, she had mostly stayed in Jipsburg City. Occasionally, she would travel for work to other places. During that time, she had encountered Steven and sometimes bumped into him at various events.

Each time she wanted to get closer and exchange a few words, he maintained a noticeable distance, as if he didn’t want to be near her at all.

Annie was well aware that he was in a stable relationship with someone special, that girl labeled as “Stupid Girl” in his contact list.

Mona was so ordinary. Annie couldn’t understand why Steven liked her. Whenever Annie tried to reach out, he would ignore her completely. NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.

“Ms. Silver, it’s time for us to go,” Emma reminded her.

Only then did Annie snap back to reality, realizing that the elevator doors had closed behind

her without a trace of hesitation.

The person she once cared so much about had already left without a word, completely cutting

her off.

Annie chuckled self–deprecatingly. The Silver family had finally regained their former glory, and she had a greater earning potential than many celebrities. Yet, Steven was a man she had completely lost. She couldn’t accept it.

“Let me ask you something. If you made a mistake and accidentally lost the most important thing to you, and one day you suddenly realized your mistake, what would you do?” she asked

Emma.

Emma, a freshly graduated college student, didn’t think much before replying directly, “of course, I’d do everything I could to get it back. It was just a mistake, right?

“It’s not like you committed some unforgivable crime like murder. If it were me, I would shamelessly try to recover it because it ultimately belongs to me.”

The recent college graduate, fresh into the workforce, had wild ideas but was bold and unafraid of challenges.

Hearing this, Annie’s eyes lit up. She realized she had been held back by her fears.

The person she feared most was Joe, and he had already died three years ago. The Martin Group today was nothing compared to three years ago.

She had heard that Steven was preparing to get married, and she couldn’t let him do that. Now, no one could stop her.

She no longer needed to marry for alliances or to impress anyone. Steven was brilliant, shining just as brightly in his field as she did in hers.

They were meant to be together.

“You’re right. I should never be timid. Now that I know I was wrong, I will amends.” Annie realized, feeling a sudden clarity.

Emma nodded repeatedly in agreement.
