Chapter 35
Alex’s POV
I’m not bothering to call that moron Desmond. He has no idea what he is talking about. I despise people who are a waste of time.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Assemble me, Anika!”
I reprimanded one of my warriors. I don’t know what to say.
How is it that the guy who is dating my mate possesses so much more power than I do?
Even the council members lack his level of vitality. I am aware that the monarch is rumored to be a Lycan. Lycans are a subspecies of wolves. However, that gentleman is not a Lycan. He does not smell like a wolf. He has a more human scent and walks with such confidence. Why was I coerced into submission? The King is a centuries-old man. That gentleman appears to be my age. As a result, he is not a king.
However, who is he?
My door was rapped.
“Alpha Anika has made her appearance.”
I exited my office and made my way to where Anika was. I’m hoping she informs me who the man is, as Desmond is fearful of revealing his identity.
“Anika, I’d like to express my gratitude for bestowing your preference on me. I’m hoping you can help me. There is a man who has kidnapped Luna from me. I’m curious as to how he is.”
” Have no fear, Alex; just give me your palm.” Her eyes widened, and she swiftly removed my palm.
“What have you done, Alex? You are a friend, and all I can do is offer advice. If you wish to survive, flee. Leave your pack behind and flee for your life.”
“Even you, Anika, why should I run? “I am the alpha,” I said.
“Alex, he will slaughter you without hesitation. He is a lethal weapon and should not be trifled with. Even the moon goddess is powerless to protect you from him. That girl was never your mate in the first place. He will kill you if he discovers what you did to his mate. Alex, heed my counsel and flee. He is unconcerned about what happened to that girl. However, if you remain here, you will perish. If the girl opens her mouth, you will perish. He is so perilous that not even the moon goddess can help you.”
“We’re back at it again, with people informing me that the man is dangerous. Is he even known by a name? Give me his fucking name, Anika!”
“I apologize, Alex. No one will tell you what his name is. No witch or wizard will ever reveal his identity to you. The mere mention of his name elicits a tremor in this town. The entire world will tremble. It’s preferable if he introduces himself. With your treatment of the young lady, you dug your own doom. If the girl discovers who she is, you will be a walking corpse. If the man finds out what you did, you will be doomed to an early grave. If I were you, I would seek out the girl and apologize. She is the only one capable of rescuing you. My advice is still valid. That girl is no match for you, and as for that man, he has the ability to slaughter you with his words or even with his gaze. He is a devil. According to legend, he issues orders to the moon goddess. Nobody knows for certain how true that is to this day. Alex, you have the option of fleeing. Please do not contact me in the future. If he ever discovers that I assisted you, I will be a walking corpse.”
Anika then exited. I’m still curious as to what it is about that man that no one wants to discuss. Tomorrow, I’ll have to return to school. I require a meeting with my mate.
REX’S POV
I exited the throne room and returned to my chamber to find Reina seated on the bed, not sleeping as I had compelled her to.
How is this even possible? Is it possible that she saw Ben?
I’m completely and utterly doomed at this point. She is skeptical of me.
“When you were attempting to elicit the truth from her, I may have compelled her to speak. As a result, you may need to explain.”
“I’m wondering what you want me to say now, Alaric.”
“You compelled me to do it. You shouldn’t have tried to coerce her into telling the truth. I had to initiate contact with her rather than coerce the truth from her. Simply spend more time cuddling with her. I know she trusts us now, but when it comes to her background, it’s not as if she doesn’t want to tell us. I believe she is afraid that if we learned about it, we would reject her. Tell her you are sorry for the way you acted and for her now speaking, find a means to get around it.”
I perched on the edge of the bed, my gaze not fixed on her. I’m at a loss about how to approach this. I reacted inappropriately. I was causing her pain. I could have caused harm to Reina.
“Why are you so stressed out? Are you in need of a massage?”
Sacred shite!
My eyes widened. I thought this beast was lying. My Reina. She speaks, Fuck! her voice.
“Welcome to hell, my friend.” The gang burst out laughing.
Hell yeah, I need a massage.
Will I be able to maintain control of myself in her presence? I’m working myself to the bone. Her voice is like music, calling out to me from the other side of the world. Fuck, I’m dead.
“Rex! Are you feeling alright?”
I screamed out loud in my mind. I was unable to turn and face her. I’m as hard as a rock, and my lusty gaze will make her feel uncomfortable. She placed her hand on my shoulder and drew me in her direction. I locked eyes with her and promptly forgot everything. Even my given name, Rex, had slipped my mind. I’ve been avoiding her eyes since we met, and here I am taking a gamble. With her two small hands, she cupped my cheeks. This is going to be challenging.
She stared at me with such tenderness, her gaze fixed on mine. She is challenging me. She is aware that I am struggling to breathe.
Why is she teasing me? She kissed the crease of my brow.
“Why are you not responding to my questions? Are you still incensed at me?” I think I am now going to be the queen and her the king. I swear I lost to her. She has me wrapped around her tiny fingers. I am doomed.
“I will never be upset with you, Reina. Please accept my apologies for what happened earlier. I should not have acted in that manner.”
She grinned and fell back on the bed. I jumped on the bandwagon. This presents an excellent chance for me to begin digging into what happened to her. It’s going to be a challenge to listen to it. However, she is mine. One thing I’m going to have to constantly remind myself of whenever I lose it. Juno is entirely mine. She embraced me as she turned. I could sense her timidity. As a result, I shall be reserved around her as well. However, I could tell Reina felt at ease around me, and communication was crucial. Thank the goddess, she didn’t question her regaining her capacity to converse. I heard her sigh after a time.
“May I ask you a question, Rex?” I combed her hair and kissed the bridge of her nose.
“Certainly, you may inquire about anything.”
“Is it conceivable for an individual to have multiple mates?”
“Twin wolves can, and in some cases, do have the same mate, although this is not always the case. Additionally, there is what we refer to as a second chance mate. This occurs when you are rejected or when your mate dies. You will be given another chance, mate.”
“Can you meet your second chance mate before you meet your soul mate?” She asked.
“The first thing that happens is that you meet your soul mate. If you go unmarked or unmated for an extended period of time, or if he dies or rejects you, you may be given another chance, mate.”
“Are you, Rex, my second chance?”
“No, my love, neither you nor I are eligible for a second chance.”
“If that’s the case, why did I have a mate before meeting you? I met him first.”
“Not at all, Juno, I met you first. I’ll tell you everything about it as soon as everything is in place. I’m not certain how you met your mate, but one thing I am certain of is that he is not your mate.” She let out a sigh.
“May I meet with Alaric?”
I was well aware that this day would come. Alaric was bouncing about in my thoughts. I locked my gaze on her. I could see she was sincere.
“Follow me,” I instructed.
She began putting on her shoes, and we began our journey into the forest. I don’t want her screaming at the palace. I came to a standstill in the middle of the jungle.
“I’m aware that you have no recollection of us, Reina. I continue to believe you are not prepared to meet Alaric. You have no recollection of yourself. You have no idea who you are, but I will never say no to meeting your mate. Prior to meeting Alaric, I want you to understand that he is a wolf, but of a distinct kind. He is terrifying. Kindly refrain from running. He will never cause you harm. He loves you more than he loves life.” She nodded and grinned.
I removed my t-shirt. I grinned as I peered into her eyes.
“Ready?” She nodded and grinned. I inhaled deeply and shifted.
Her pupils widened and her mouth curled into an O shape. She shifted back.
“You… you, Rex…” She was scared. Then she screamed.
Ladon, Ladon, Ladon! Why?
