Chapter 3448 Not So Impressive
If Nathan were still a mere mortal, he might have some apprehension about the mysterious laser weapon.
However, he was now part of the vampires; in fact, he was the king.
The destructive power of firearms meant nothing to him, so he wasn't worried at all.
Moreover, with so many warriors slain on the battlefield, he, as the God of War, had no reason to flee.
"Take the troops and retreat, Ronan. I'll deal with these intruders personally."
Ronan tensed up as he heard that. "But-"
"No buts," Nathan cut him off nonchalantly. "They aren't ordinary people. You guys wouldn't be able to handle them." With that, Ronan obeyed. "Yes, Sir!"
Then, he and the remaining soldiers retreated, not forgetting to take the bodies of their fallen comrades away with them.
Now, only Helios, Lunar, Nathan, and a few others remained.
While Helios sized up Nathan with interest, while the latter scrutinized his two enemies as well.
Helios' eyes narrowed. "If I'm not mistaken, you must be Nathan Cross."
"Are you also Demigods, like the one in the prison?" Nathan asked coolly.
"Since you're aware of that, you should release our companion at once. If you do, we might spare you this time," Lunar chimed in.
Helios grinned at Nathan. Lunar had taken the words right out of his mouth.
"You sure talk big," Nathan commented, gazing at the man and woman before him. "It's just a pity you haven't quite grasped the situation. It's not about you letting me go now; it's about me not wanting to let the two of you go."
He continued, "Here in the Forbidden Zone, even Zeus, the mighty God of Thunder, and the Archangel, Michael, would have to humble themselves. Now that you've killed our soldiers, you best be prepared to stay here forever." Helios' face clouded over the moment he heard that.
"You've gone too far, Nathan Cross. Do you really think you're invincible after killing Herod? Well, you're wrong about that. Today, I'll show you what it means to have true power."
With that, he began his attack.
Swoosh!
The man who initially stood ten meters away was now in front of Nathan in the blink of an eye.
He reached out with his right hand to grab Nathan by the neck.
To him, taking the latter down was a piece of cake. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Lunar couldn't help but smile as her eyes sparkled. "His powers have increased again. He should be able to pass the final test and ascend from Demigod to God soon enough," she murmured. Helios was extremely confident.
In their Divine Realm, every citizen was a born warrior in spite of their sparse population.
They hardly paid attention to technology, viewing it as nothing more than trickery and deceit.
Hence, only a handful of people there enjoyed studying technology.
A much larger number of them revered the Ancient Arts; it was something the entire Divine Realm took pride in.
That was why all children were trained to become warriors after birth.
They would then become Demigods after that.
Among the Demigods, a select few are bestowed with an extraordinary aura. These few were known as the Gods of the Divine Realm.
Gods were regarded as the nobles in this realm, and they were also the most powerful.
Helios would soon undergo a series of tests to become a member of the Gods.
At present, his hand made its way toward Nathan's throat at the speed of light so he could lift the latter up.
Although he had yet to come into
contact with his target, his palm and
fingers felt as though they were already touching Nathan's skin.
A smug glint appeared in his eyes.
With a sudden clench of his right hand, he gripped Nathan's throat fiercely.
Yet, at the very next second, he realized something was amiss. Nathan's throat felt as if it would melt away like foam at his mere touch.
In fact, Nathan, as a whole, seemed to gradually fade from his sight.
There was nothing in his hand!
What's going on here?
Helios was filled with shock.
He suddenly understood.
Nathan had moved so quickly that
his body had already shifted, but
because of the extreme speed, it appeared as if his figure was still in its original place.
A mix of stupor and wrath washed over him as he realized he had grabbed onto nothing. He lifted his head slowly, and sure enough, there stood Nathan a few meters away, hands behind his back, looking at him with a cold indifference.
"Demigods? You're not so impressive," Nathan remarked icily.
Helios was utterly livid to hear that.
