Serpent Sarcophagus

Chapter 13 Black and White Twin Snakes

Chapter 13 Black and White Twin Snakes

Seeing Stowy stop Orion, I paused and ran away.

I was not familiar with this part of the woods, but the villagers left a lot of traces when they climbed up

the mountain. I just followed the traces and ran.

Sure enough, I saw Uncle Peter’s car parked on the side of the road not long after I ran. They brought

a lot of things over.

I picked up a rock to smash the glass window of the car. After rummaging in the car for a while, I found

the phone that Uncle Peter took away from me.

He didn’t turn it off, so I hurriedly called the police. However, I wasn’t sure where I was, so I could only

tell them that I was at the mountain behind Dragonlair Village.

Before I could tell them more information, I heard a crash of thunder near the grave, and then there

was no more signal for me to make the call.

I didn’t have the key to the car, so I couldn’t drive it. I took a look at the car and ran following the tire

tracks.

But I didn’t get far this time before I heard the screams of villagers from the grave pit, and the sound of

Uncle Peter’s heartbreaking yell, “Melissa, Melissa!”

Melissa was my cousin’s name. I turned my head and wanted to take a look. I felt something cold on

my hand and saw that the Black Mamba Bracelet returned to my wrist.

Stowy came out right away and held onto me. “I can only trap Orion for a while. He has already

summoned lightning and all the snakes nearby. Get out of here soon.”

I still just wanted to run, but I heard more screams. There was even the sound of someone crying.

I looked at Stowy. “What’s going on over there?”

“You have been poisoned by the Snake’s Lust Poison, so he is not in a hurry. Orion’s main purpose this

time is to avenge these villagers.” Stowy looked at me and pulled my arm. “Let’s go.”

I followed him a few steps forward, but the screams behind me sounded more and more devastating.

I ran a few steps, but the screams seemed to be going straight into my ears.

“Orion made you hear this. Aurora, don’t worry about it. Run!” Stowy pulled me forward.

I wanted to run, but it felt like the villagers were calling out to me. “Aurora, Aurora, save me!”

The voice sounded familiar, and I stopped.

Stowy, who was next to me, looked at me. Sadness flashed across his eyes, but from his face, I knew

he understood. “Aurora, you are still the same as before. Orion knew you’ll go back, so he didn’t even

need to chase after you.”

I was a little puzzled, but Stowy dragged me and ran back. “Same as last time, let’s save as many as

we can.”

Based on Stowy’s words, it seemed that this kind of thing happened before.

I looked at Stowy’s broad back. His black robe rustled in the wind as he pulled me and ran back, and I

felt something bitter inside.

The same scene popped up in my head— it was someone like him who was taking me by the hand and

running back without hesitation.

There seemed to be a fire soaring into the sky. Amidst the hollow sound of hitting bamboo sticks,

women screamed in pain, men shouted, and children cried. And the sounds of snakes hissing...

I wanted to see the person in the fire, but Stowy, who pulled me, stopped abruptly.

At the edge of the grave pit, the snakes that were driven away by firecrackers seemed to be back

again. It looked like there were more of them this time.

This time, neither firecrackers nor snake repellent were useful.

All the snakes had crimson eyes and hissed at the villagers as lightning flashed in the sky.

Even if they fell on the ground from being struck by bamboo sticks, these snakes twisted their bodies,

shed skin that was clamped, and crawled towards the villagers along with the bamboo sticks.

Many people fell down, and the snakes bit them ferociously.

The villagers were so scared that they wanted to retreat, but in the bushes behind them, something

was moving from time to time. The bushes fell straight down on both sides, and it was obvious that

there were even larger snakes in there.

On the edge of the grave, Uncle Peter knelt there as if he was in pain and heartbroken.

Standing by the glass box, Orion looked at the nailed-down snake body inside and then turned to face

us. “Stowy, have you forgotten how you died last time? Dying once for Aurora isn’t enough that you

followed her back this time, huh?”

Stowy released my hand and held the Black Mamba Bracelet. “With this, the snake will dare not bite

you. Go to save them.”

“Stowy!” Orion sighed and pointed at the villagers. “You forgot that you died saving them last time, but

how did they treat you?”

“Even for Aurora’s sake, can you tolerate these people killing you not just once but twice?” Orion

seemed furious.

Suddenly, I turned my head and looked at Stowy. What did he mean by being killed twice?

His black eyes still showed a gentle smile, but he pushed me behind his back. “Aurora, go.”

“Damn them. Peter used Aurora and my snake body just to lure me out to find the Serpent

Sarcophagus. I’ll have them all buried with the Serpent Sarcophagus here!” Orion didn’t care about his

snake body being covered in wine at all.

His white robe moved, and he raised his head slightly.

As thunder rolled and lightning flashed, I saw a snow-white giant snake standing high among the trees,

shouting, “Stowy, they all have to die. Aurora shouldn’t have come out. She should be in the Serpent

Sarcophagus. You stopped it once with your life. Do you want to stop it a second time?”

“Snake monster... Monster!” The villagers were so scared that they didn’t dare to hit even the small

snakes and backed away hurriedly, only to be bitten by more snakes.

Stowy glanced back at me. It seemed that his bright black eyes were glistening with tears.

Although he looked at the villagers with disgust in his eyes, he gazed back at the white snake that

Orion transformed into with utmost determination. His black robe slowly tightened, and then, it felt like a

drizzle was falling from the sky.

Stowy’s body slowly elongated, and a black snake, whose skin was so dark as if it draped a shawl

made of the starlight, entangled the white snake violently.

Amidst the snakes’ hissing, I heard Stowy sigh softly beside my ear, “Aurora, take them away following

the water.”

The black and white snakes were hissing at and tangled up with each other. During their fight, trees fell

down wherever they went.

I glanced at Stowy. Holding the Black Mamba Bracelet on my wrist, I grabbed a bamboo stick and ran

towards the villagers.

The rain became heavier, and the dark clouds seemed to be stirring overhead. Lightning that was

sliding among the dark clouds like snakes felt so close to me as if it could bite me by lowering its head

slightly.

The villagers screamed incessantly. I held the bamboo stick and hit snakes whenever I saw one. The

snakes tried to climb along with the bamboo stick, but when they saw the Black Mamba Bracelet, they

seemed to be woken up and ran away quickly.

The water from the rain accumulated and soon converged into a stream on the mountain. I thought

about what Stowy said and hurried down the mountain by following the stream.

The large snake that had tripped me over before was there again to stop me, but the Black Mamba

Bracelet on my wrist suddenly swam to the back of my hand, growling.

The large snake looked up at the Black Mamba Bracelet and slowly slithered away.

“Follow the water! Let’s go!” I drove the snake away with the bamboo stick and shouted at the villagers.

“Run for your lives.”

In the distance, it seemed that the black and the white snakes were still fighting. One tree after another

collapsed while lightning flashed.

Even with the rumbling of trees falling and thunder striking, Orion’s roar could still be heard.

The villagers could no longer care about the Serpent Sarcophagus. The bamboo sticks that were once

used to fight snakes also became crutches as they staggered to leave.

While they’re running away, Uncle Peter wouldn’t leave no matter what.

The two men who tied me up limped over and said to me, “Please help persuade the Village Chief.

Melissa is in that grave.”

I was stunned for a moment and ran over with the bamboo stick.

Even if the snakes here were driven away, there were still many snakes in the grave pit. Perhaps it was

because the rain became heavier that the snakes that wanted to escape also hid inside.

I glanced into the distance. The black and the white snakes were gone, but trees were still falling down.

In the rain, I strode to the side of the grave and saw numerous snakes entangled into a huge ball of

snakes in the pit.

Among them, there was a corpse.

The human face looked even paler against the colorful snakes.

That face once bloomed with the sweetest smile when she was wearing a birthday party hat and

holding a fairy wand in the picture I just saw this morning...

Perhaps it was because the rain was too heavy that all the snakes were trying to hide underneath the

corpse.

Uncle Peter knelt by the grave and muttered, “So this is the Serpent Sarcophagus, this is the Serpent

Sarcophagus.”

I didn’t dare get too close and tapped him with the bamboo stick. “Let’s go. Orion will be here later.”

“Aurora, it should’ve been you.” Uncle Peter stood up abruptly.

He looked at me and yelled, “It said that as long as you are sacrificed to the Serpent Sarcophagus,

Melissa will be fine. Why did that snake have to avenge Melissa? The one they chose from the start

was you.”

“Who said that?” I couldn’t help but looked at Uncle Peter and shout, “Who asked me to be sacrificed to

the Serpent Sarcophagus?”

Wasn’t it Uncle Peter who replaced Melissa with me to prevent her from being buried alive?

Uncle Peter glanced at me. “You think Stowy can protect you? Aurora, the Serpent Sarcophagus is

neither a snake nor a sarcophagus. It is the one looking for you, not Orion. You can’t escape...”

He laughed and leaped into the grave. “Melissa, daddy is here to keep you company.”

“No!” I was far away and wanted to stop him with the bamboo stick, but I couldn’t. My hands were wet,

and the bamboo stick slipped because of the water. Uncle Peter fell into the snake group and was

entangled in an instant, soon disappearing among the snakes.

I took a look and knew that I could do nothing, so I turned around and headed to the glass box.

The glass box was even so heavy and large that I couldn’t move it. I gathered my courage and poked

the body of the snake inside with the bamboo stick. “Orion, come out! Orion!”

No matter how Stowy died last time and for whom he died, he stopped Orion to save me this time, so I

had to save him! Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

I poked the snake with the bamboo stick over and over again.

After a peal of thunder crashed, Orion appeared in front of me with a clean and dry white robe. “Are

you calling for me?”

Once he finished, Stowy hurried over. “Aurora, hurry up. The Serpent Sarcophagus is about to come

out.”
