Millie chuckled wryly. Only those incapable would want to control someone else’s fate.

“Go ahead, then,” she said coolly. At that moment, she was unusually clear–headed and calm.

“Are you threatening me?” Kane glared at Millie, his breath becoming rapid. “You think I wouldn’t dare, huh?”

Right then, Cara slowly rose from the floor. She clutched Kane’s thigh and shook her head at him, saying, “Dr. Caldwell, thank you, but… I don’t want to seek treatment anymore.”

Tears flowed down her cheeks, and her eyes were bloodshot. Millie couldn’t even see the signs of aging in them anymore. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

“I don’t want to seek treatment anymore. I’ll go home with you. I’ll listen to you and do whatever you say,” Cara pleaded as she held onto Kane’s thigh. “Let’s go home. Let’s stop

this.

The commotion caused everyone to look at them as if they were a spectacle.

Millie couldn’t help but feel pathetic. When she saw Cara, she felt as though she had seen herself.

She had pleaded desperately, begging Winston to love her. Could a woman really not survive. without a man?

With that in mind, Millie strode over. She lifted Cara up and chided, “Have some dignity! Why are you begging him? Can he cure your illness? You might as well kneel and beg me!”

Kane seethed with anger as he brandished the knife toward Millie. “Didn’t I tell you to mind your own business? Do you have a death wish?”

With the knife aimed at her face, he charged toward her.

The onlookers hurriedly backed away. Someone yelled, “Dr. Caldwell, he has lost his mind! Ignore him! Just walk away now.”

“Where are the security guards? Go get them!”

Millie continued to retreat. She watched as Kane lost control, and his movements with the knife were growing more reckless.

“I already said we’d go home together. What more do you want?” Cara’s cries from behind sounded particularly helpless.

Kane’s anger intensified upon hearing that. He shouted, “If it weren’t for you, none of this would have happened! You bitch, I’ll kill you!”

With that, he charged toward his wife with the knife.

At that sight, Millie scowled and immediately rushed forward. She crouched down and shoved Cara aside.

Just as she was about to kick Kane, a figure suddenly dashed in from the crowd. The person moved with lightning speed.

Before Kane could approach Millie, the person swiftly kicked him aside.

The crowd gasped in surprise, with someone exclaiming, “It’s Mr. Greer!”

“Why is Winston here?” Millie wondered. She lifted her head.

The man in front of her was indeed Winston. He turned slightly and looked down at her. It was as if he was ensuring her safety.

Meanwhile, Kane rubbed his stomach. He was visibly irritated at the sight of Winston. He said to Millie, “You even called for backup, huh?”

Millie pushed Winston aside and approached Kane. With a stoic expression, she replied sternly, “I didn’t call for backup, and I don’t know him. If you want to fight, I’m ready.”

“Millie, you’re a woman. Why do you want to fight with him?” Winston asked.

Millie immediately turned to look at him. It seemed like he had triggered something within her.

“A woman is no less than anyone else!” she retorted.

Winston was at a loss for words. He wasn’t implying that Millie was inferior to anyone. It was just a matter of strength and size. Why did she insist on charging forward again?

“Women are worthless! Without men, you can’t survive!” Kane taunted, his words laced with

sarcasm.

Millie acted swiftly in response to his words. She kicked without hesitation, hooked her arm around Kane’s neck, and forcefully pushed him back against a nearby pillar.

After that, she lifted her knee and slammed it into his face again and again.

Winston watched in shock. He couldn’t believe that Millie knew how to fight.

She was indeed good at everything. However, over the years, she had chosen to restrain herself for unworthy individuals.
