Millie purchased a bunch of snacks before heading home in the evening.
Terrence sipped his coffee in the living room. He watched as Millle ate chips in her pajamas, feeling perplexed. It was unusual to see her unwinding like this. It was quite out of character.
Terrence was curious. “What’s going on? Any good news to share?”
Millie had planned to inform Terrence about her divorcing Winston the next day. However, her history of failed attempts to end her marriages and disappointing them made her hesitant.
She decided to wait until everything was finalized. She had never felt such a strong desire to divorce before and wondered if she was being rational.
“Nothing much. I picked up some new skills during the surgery with Dr. Quinn this afternoon. I’m pretty happy about it,” Millie said, continuing to enjoy her potato chips.
Terrence was aware that Millie was being evasive, so he chose to ignore her.
Millie giggled, unable to contain her joy. After finishing the snacks, she headed upstairs to take a shower.
As she prepared to sleep, a sudden realization struck her. She hadn’t seen her ID card for quite some time. The last time she remembered using it was during her divorce, and it had been untouched since.
Millie opened the drawer and found all sorts of documents, but her ID card was nowhere to be found. She crouched, trying to recall where it could be.
The confusion grew as she struggled to remember where she had placed it. Unable to figure it out, Millie decided to call it a night.
Sometimes, the more one searched for something, the harder it was to find it. However, if one stopped looking, it might just show up.
The following day, Millie was awakened by the alarm clock. After freshening up and changing, she resumed her search for her ID card.
As the clock neared eight, a sense of panic set in. Her ID card seemed to have vanished mysteriously.
Julia went upstairs to call Millie for breakfast. Upon opening the bedroom door, she was shocked. “Did at thief ransack your room?”
The room was a complete mess, with things scattered all over the floor.
“Mom, please help. Have you seen my ID?” Millie asked helplessly.
Julia shook her head. “No.”
Millie ruffled her hair anxiously. “Where could it be?”
Julia leaned back on the couch and observed Millie searching frantically. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
Millie was speechless. “Mom, don’t just sit there. Help me look.”
Why do you need your ID now? Is it urgent? Just request a replacement. It’ll only take three to five days. Don’t waste your time searching for it. It’s too much of a hassle. Julia replied, seemingly uninterested.
Millie sat on the bed, staring blankly at her. “I’m going to file for divorce.”
Julia perked up at that. “I’ll help you find it!”
Millie was at a loss for words. She wondered if she should tell Terrence, Arthur, and Layla about her situation. With all four of them helping, they might find it faster.
Suddenly, Millie’s phone chimed with a text from Winston. “I’m right outside your house.”
He arrived on time.
Millie: “Hold on. I’m looking for my ID.”
Winston: “Did you lose it?”
Millie: “I’m not sure yet.”
Winston: “Alright. Take your time.”
Millie set her phone aside and let out a silent sigh. If her divorce didn’t go through today, Rachel would undoubtedly seize the opportunity to mock her.
Ten minutes later, Millie and Julia sat on the floor in a daze. Millie felt completely lost.
Julia suggested, “Maybe you’ve lost it. Why not apply for a new one? It should only take a day or two.”
Millie picked up her phone and realized that Winston hadn’t urged her at all. “I’ll head to work first,” she said, grabbing her bag and leaving.
Julia couldn’t believe it and continued searching for a while. It wasn’t just an ID card; it held Millie’s future) As soon as Millie stepped outside, she spotted Winston’s Maybach. She opened the door
and got in.
Winston was dressed in a suit, wearing an expensive watch on his wrist. His black hair was impeccably groomed, and he exuded an air of nobility.
