Millie felt extremely blessed once more. As she leaned against the bed and looked out the window, she couldn’t help but think, “I’d be even happier if…”

That evening, Millie was eager to head home. Yet, Sebastian visited and strongly encouraged her to undergo a thorough medical examination. He insisted that she should stay at the hospital for two days.

Fortunately, Cara was safe and sound. On the other hand, Millie felt bored in the ward. Although she was perfectly fine, she wasn’t allowed to leave. She was being closely monitored as if she were a valuable

asset.

Her phone chimed with a text notification. It was from Gloria. “Mills, the pierogies will be there soon.”

Thinking about Gloria’s pierogies, Millie perked up. She washed some fruits, poured two cups of coffee,

and waited for Selma and Gloria to arrive.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door of the ward. She immediately called out, “Come in.”

Millie’s face lit up with joy as she turned toward the door. However, she was stunned as soon as she saw

Winston.

He approached the ward carrying a food container, looking a bit conflicted. As he gazed intently at her from head to toe, Millie couldn’t help but feel a twinge of embarrassment.

She pursed her lips and said anxiously, “I thought it was Mom and Grandma.”

“Mom has something to do, so she asked me to come instead,” he replied, glancing once more at Millie’s

face.

Gloria had called him home before he finished work. When he arrived, she seriously advised, “Win, Millie is sick. This is your chance. Try to take care of her, alright?”

But Millie looked perfectly healthy, with no signs of illness or injury.

“Is Mom not coming?” Millie asked, feeling slightly down.

Winston couldn’t help but look at her. “Are you disappointed to see me?”

Millie’s silence was deafening. It was so intense that Winston couldn’t help but chuckle. “You really can’t stand being around me, can you?”

It was no longer the same as when she loved him passionately.

Millie stood there awkwardly. Winston pointed to the couch and ordered, “Come here and sit down.”

Millie walked over. He sat across from her and opened the containers filled with steaming pierogies. He grabbed two forks, and she asked, “You haven’t eaten yet?”

“As soon as I finished work, I was summoned home,” he explained, grabbing a pierogi to eat.

Millie nodded and held a small plate. The next moment, there was a pierogi on her plate. When she looked up again, she saw Winston had placed another one on it for her.

He frowned and said solemnly, “Mom said you need to eat more because you’ve lost weight recently.”

Millie was taken aback, her eyes fixed on the pair of pierogies on the plate. A whirlwind of indescribable emotions overwhelmed her. She glanced at Winston, her eyes filled with emotion.

“This is the first time you’ve brought me food,” Millie said softly.

He frowned and casually asked, “Haven’t I done this before?”

Millie hummed in response, her voice becoming softer. Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

Winston frowned as he observed Millie eating silently with her head down. He recalled the last time she had cooked for him, only to be interrupted by Joanna before he could take a bite.

As the atmosphere grew quiet, he broke the silence. “What’s the filling?”

“Meat,” Millie replied curtly.

The ward fell silent once more. After a few moments, Winston’s pleasant voice reached Millie’s ears. “In the future, when dealing with emotionally unstable patients, don’t act rashly.”

“Got it.” Millie nodded.

Winston frowned, gazing intensely at Millie. He wondered if she realized that her brief answers made it hard to continue the conversation.

Millie raised her eyes, questioning why he was staring at her.
