Chapter 381

Millie found Rachel’s reaction amusing. Clearly, Rachel had nothing but contempt for Jake.

Right now, Rachel hated herself more than she hated Jake. Sitting in a corner, clutching her hair, she wore a puzzled and angry look as if an internal battle raged within her.

“Why would I kiss Jake Webson? Why him, out of everyone at the bar? This is so embarrassing! Why

did it have to be Jake?”

Millie gave Rachel a pat on the shoulder. Rachel let out a sigh.

This time, Millie’s phone rang. Jake had called.

Millie showed Rachel her phone screen. “Yo, your alleged boyfriend is calling me.”

Rachel turned her face away. The mention of Jake embarrassed her because she had made the first move on him last night! Damn it!

Jake spoke calmly on the line, “Millie, are you beside Rachel now?”

“I am.” Staring at Rachel, Millie said, “Rach just talked to Laura. Her company called you, didn’t they?”

“Yes,” he replied sternly, “They told me to either deny the rumors or admit to the relationship. I’m calling to ask for Rachel’s opinion.”

Rachel immediately snapped, “Of course we’re denying it!”

A short silence ensued. Jake was fine with denying the rumors, but he reminded her, “Rachel, it was obviously you in the video.”

Any one of her fans could have spotted her from the video in which she leaned in to kiss Jake.

She frowned. “Are you saying we have no choice but to admit to dating?”

“Do you have a better plan?” he questioned calmly.

Rachel choked. No. She didn’t have a better idea.

Millie chimed in, “How about saying it was some behind–the–scenes content from Rachel’s show?”

“That’s not very believable,” Jake shot down the idea.

They sank into silence once more.

-After a long while, Rachel finally said, “Let the company handle the PR.” They’d better keep a low

profile during this sensitive time.

Frowning, Jake opined, “If we stay silent, the situation will only escalate. You’re in a discussion for a top advertisement lately, aren’t you?”

Rachel stared at Millie’s phone, wondering, “How did Jake learn about that ad?”

Millie looked out of the window and sighed. “More and more reporters are showing up outside.” Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Alright. I’ll take care of this matter,” Jake muttered glumly.

Somehow, his voice sounded reassuring. He hung up soon after, leaving the ladies staring at each other. They wondered how he was going to deal with the scandal.

Millie perched by the window and noticed people everywhere outside their villa–on the park benches, by the gate entrance, and by the bushes.

Rachel had experienced paparazzi snooping around, but nothing of the scale of the crowd today.

At the same time, Rachel was reading Twitter comments in her bed. Her fans, divided into two camps, tried to defend her.

Those supporting her sent her their blessings, but other fans warned her not to be a fool in love and focus on her career. After all, her new show was about to be aired soon.

Rachel lay face down on the bed and let out a sigh.

Suddenly, Millie commented, “Rach, they’re leaving.”

Rachel was surprised.

Millie was sure that the reporters had left. Rachel joined her at the window. The reporters seemed to have received some new assignments and left at the same time.

They exchanged looks, knowing the mass departure was Jake’s doing.

Rachel immediately went to change her clothes. “Mills, come to the office with me. I’ll discuss it with Laura, and I’ll shoulder all the responsibility for this incident.”

After all, she had kissed Jake last night, and it was unfair to drag him into a scandal.

“I’ll explain that I mistakenly kissed him because I was drunk.” Sounding determined, Rachel put on a

cap.

She decided to take responsibility for her actions.

Rachel probably came to this decision for a good reason. Without asking more questions, Millie followed behind Rachel as they prepared to leave the house.
