chapter 63
chapter 63
I kept running, bumping into people in my haste to get away from the nightmare that was becoming
my life, only stopping when I ran into Percy at the doors leading into this place.
Percy looked up at me a red liquorice strap hanging from his lips as he chewed on it with his pointy
teeth. He pulled the strap from his mouth startled.
“Imogen, what’s wrong?”
“I need to leave. Let me out, please.” He looked around me, noticing Theo and Tobias weren’t with
me he scratched his bald head nervously.
“I don’t think I should. Where are your mates?” he asked.
“Either open it or I will.”
“That’s not possible. Only supernaturals can open this door once inside, I am sorry Imogen I can’t
let you leave without your mates” I could tell he genuinely felt bad for not being able to let me out, to
escape this suffocating place. Panic seizing every atom in my body, my heart hammering in my chest
so hard, I was afraid It was going to bounce right out of my chest. I clutched my chest trying to calm
myself, I hadn’t had a panic attack in ages. I sucked in breath trying to get much needed air. I closed
my eyes trying to ground myself as adrenaline starting pumping through my veins, the familiar fight or
flight kicking in. Percy touched my shoulder.
“Are you okay, Love?” he asked worriedly.
“Your mates should be here soon. I am sure they wouldn’t leave you for too long. That I am certain
of.” He spoke softly.
“My mates are the fucking problem I want to escape from” I screamed anger taking over. I was so
done with the lies, done with them getting there way. I shoved past Percy and walked to the doors.
“Open it now” I demanded. Percy took a step back. I did feel guilty for yelling at him, but I just
needed out of this place, needed to get away from them. Percy shook his head.
“I am sorry Imogen; I can’t do that,” he said looking back towards the door nervously that lead to
the quadrangle. I looked up and people were stopped looking in at me, there curious faces watching
me argue with the elf. I turned my back on them before hitting the door with my fist.
“Imogen, I wouldn’t do that, you could hurt yourself, there are wards all around the place, you are
human it could have a negative impact on you,” he tried to warn me. I didn’t care just wanting out, I
pushed on the doors with both hands and to my shock and the shock of everyone else watching. The
doors flew open, banging loudly on the sandstone of the building. I looked at my hands shocked with
how hard, I must have been pushing them for it to fly open like that.
“How, I don’t understand, how did you do that?”
“Beats me but I’m out of here,” I said, walking out the doors and heading towards the car, I could
see on the other side of the shiny veil, how hadn’t I noticed it before. I could see it glimmering slightly.
“Imogen you must wait,” I heard Percy call out to me. I ignored the strange elf and walked through
feeling the weird suction sensation and the loud ringing in my ears, as I was sucked out through the
strange portal into the real world. My world. I walked to the edge of the road looking in both directions. I
had no idea how to get home, I didn’t even pay attention on the drive here. I was unfamiliar with area. I Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
only knew the direction in which we pulled up. I walked over to the car. Pulling on the handle I was
shocked to find it unlocked.
I jumped in the driver’s seat and smiled when I see the keys dangling from the ignition. I started
Tobias’s car. I put the car in reverse before stomping on the gas, reversing out and hitting the tree next
to the gate, not used to the speed. I fell forward only just catching myself before my face smacked on
the steering wheel. I quickly clipped my seat belt in. My heart hammering in my chest, then I laughed.
Tobias and Theo both loved their cars. Woops I thought knowing that would have left some serious
damage to the back of the car.
I turned the car around and pulled out hitting the gas, as the car jerked forward at speeds that
would normally petrify me, going over a dip in the road the car bottoming out, as I headed for what I
hoped was the City. I couldn’t help the sadistic laugh when I heard the front bar of the car come off
from the force of the front hitting the cattle grid I ran over, leaving the bumper and ripping the grill off.
They were going to kill me. I thought before putting my foot down again. After driving for a few minutes,
I seen a sign saying the City was thirty kms away. I slowed for the bend before jamming the brakes on
as Theo stood in the middle of the road and an enraged look on his face.
I wasn’t fast enough, and I ploughed into him, I closed my eyes, so I didn’t watch as the car was
about to run over the top of him, both my feet on the break trying to get the car to stop in time. I jerked
forward smacking into the steering wheel. My hands instantly going to my head. I could feel blood
trickling down the side of my face, touching my head I pulled my fingers back, I had cut my forehead
open on the steering wheel.
Looking up I see Theo with both hands on the bonnet leaving a full impression of his hands. He
stopped the car. The look on his face, I could tell he was furious.
I started pulling at my seat belt trying to get it off, managing to get out and climb halfway over to
the back seat just as the driver side door was ripped completely off by Tobias. He grabbed my ankle
pulling me back into the driver’s seat. I kicked at him and slapped at his hands. Tobias ripped me from
the car, my feet dangling in the air. He slammed me back into the rear driver’s side. I flinched at the
impact at being roughly slammed into the door my back aching from the force, knocking the air out my
lungs leaving me winded.
“What the fuck are you doing,” he screamed. I did the only thing I could think of seeing as my arms
were pinned in his hands against the car. I threw my head forward headbutting him, though I am fairly
sure it hurt me more than him.
He dropped me and I feel on my knees clutching my head. Man, he had a hard head. I could feel a
lump already forming above my eyebrow. Looking up Tobias broke his nose back in place before
growling lowly making my hairs stand on end. I crawled to the back tyre pulling myself to my feet. My
surroundings spinning as I stood up.
I screamed when cold hands grabbed me. Pulling me against them. I knew it was Theo, he put me
on the boot of the car holding me in place with one arm while I struggled and kicked at him.
“Stop” He screamed punching the boot right next to my head, leaving a huge dent. I froze fear
consuming me as his eyes turned red. He leaned in closer, and I feared he was going to attack me. His
arm around my waist getting tighter, his hand on my shoulder forcing me down. I slapped him, the
sound echoing and my hand stinging from the force. He growled lowly before ripping me off the boot
and yanking me forward, when suddenly I heard her voice.
“Let her go now, Theo. I will not watch you treat your Mate that way” Caroline screamed furious at
her son. He let go and I stumbled back leaning against the boot. Tobias grabbed my handbag out of the
car. He was livid and his shirt had blood on it from his already healed nose. He glared at me before
shoving my bag back in my hands. I flinched under the look he gave me. Feel their anger running
through me from the bond.
“That’s enough, both of you. Can’t you tell you’re scaring her. Come here Imogen” she said. I
looked towards her and could see Josiah waiting in the car a little up the road. Shaking his head clearly
annoyed. I ran toward Caroline preferring to be in her presence than her sons.
“Clean this mess up, I am taking her home” she said before pulling me toward her car. I could hear
Theo and Tobias growl, but they didn’t argue back at her. I honestly think they were too scared to.
Caroline, I could tell, was the sort of mother who would give them a dose of their own medicine if they
defied her. She squeezed my shoulder softly.
“I am sorry about them, Imogen; they shouldn’t have carried on like that. I am not defending their
behaviour, but they became quite panicked when they realised you managed to get past the wards”
she said.
“Did Percy let you out?” she asked curious. I shook my head.
“Well, that is interesting” she said thoughtfully. She opened the rear car door and I climbed in.
Josiah looked in the rear-view mirror at me, his eyes crinkled slightly, and I could tell he was
smiling.
“Remind me to never let you borrow my car,” he said with a wink. I couldn’t help but chuckle their
car was a total right off now. Especially after Theo destroying the front end. Josiah pulled away driving
around the wrecked car. I could see Tobias was on the phone and see Theo arguing with him, both
throwing their hands in the air obviously arguing with each other. Theo stepping closer indicating for
Josiah to roll down the window.
“Drop her off at home we won’t be long,” he said sending a glare my way in the back, I cringed
back pushing myself into the seat.
“I won’t be leaving if I feel you are a threat to the girl in anyway Theo. You made this mess you
clean it” she said leaning over her husband and glaring at her son. He stood up straight before giving
his mother a nod before turning away from the car.
“Hungry dear? We will grab dinner on the way home” she said. I nodded feeling a little awkward.
Why was she being so nice even Josiah? I wondered. We stopped by a Chinese place on the way
home. When we pulled up Theo and Tobias were sitting on the step out the front. I could feel their guilt
through the bond, but I ignored it, they don’t deserve forgiveness after that. They told me she was
dead, let me believe she wasn’t an issue and now she just decided my fate, as if finding out they lied
weren’t enough. She got the last laugh; I never did nothing to her, yet she can choose my death. I
wiped a stray tear as it fell running down my cheek. Opening the car door, I grabbed my bag and
walked past them into the house. Ignoring their pleas to let them explain.
