Chapter 2563
Chapter 2563
"They felt that my clothes were dirty, I was smelly, silly, and I have always been looking down on the floor when I walked, so how
could I be more successful than their children? My mother used the money I had sent her in the first month to buy new clothes for
my grandparents, my uncle and his wife, and also my cousins. She even bought them lamb, ham, and all sorts of gifts, she had
spent more than a thousand dollars and she went to my grandparent's house. In the end, her spirits were dampened by my uncle
and his wife."
Kingston could not help but ask, "she brought so many gifts to your grandparent's house, but she was still not welcomed?"
"My uncle and aunt had no problems with my mother. They have always known that my mother is a good person. Not only them,
but even the people in my grandparent's village knew that my mother is a good daughter, a good sister, and a good aunt. The
person they slandered was not my mother but me. Do you know what my uncle and aunt said about me?" Eevonne shrugged
and pretended that it did not matter to her as she looked at Kingston with a smile.
Kingston clearly saw misery and grievances in the girl's eyes. This time, he clearly had figured out how her uncle and aunt judge
the girl before his eyes.
"Your uncle and aunt thought that your salary was too high. They thought that you were...doing some indecent job, didn't they?
They thought you'd done some morally corrupt things, didn't they?" Kingston asked the girl in a deep and gentle tone.
The girl lifted her head to look at Kingston. "Do you believe that I've not done that kind of thing?"
Kingston nodded firmly. "I do!"
Suddenly, tears welled up in the girl's eyes, she tried her best to hold her tears back and not let herself cry. However, as soon as
she spoke, she still burst out crying, "But...but my mother...my mother didn't believe me."
Kingston was speechless.
"My mother called me and scolded me for being a person who had gone astray. She said that I had never picked up any of her
merits my whole life. She was a proud person with great integrity.
Everyone in her family was so successful. But what about me? She said that my brother and I just looked like the lazy people
who just loaf around all day. Both of US were just like the people from my father's side of the family. We're both unsuccessful and
without integrity! We just knew about doing shameful things. We just couldn't change our habit of doing underhanded things."
"That's outrageous!" Kingston was so angry that he raised his hand and slammed it on the nightstand beside the hospital bed.
The tape on his hand that was holding the infusion needle in place nearly fell off because of that slam.
"How can there be such a mother in this world? she didn't believe her own daughter, but she believed others!" Kingston said
extremely furiously.
The girl shook her head and smiled miserably. "However, my uncle and aunts are not just anybody to my mother. In her eyes, her
siblings are her closest family. My mother and her siblings had never had any conflicts. They had always loved each other. The
relationship between the siblings was so good that everyone in our village was envious of them."
Kingston became even more furious. "Therefore, in order to maintain her relationship with her siblings, she sacrificed her
daughter and her husband?"
"That was not all." Eevonne's tears streamed down her face at that time. "In my mother's eyes and mind, she has always thought
that she had married someone that was unworthy to be with her, and that the children she had given birth took after that man.
They were nothing like her and they were all a bunch of despicable things.
"My mother had always been looking down on my brother and me in her core, so..."
"So what happened?" Kingston asked her with concern. He was afraid that the next thing Eevonne was going to say would be
debasing herself. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
She was such a good girl, she should never debase herself.
Kingston looked at her eagerly.
Eevonne sighed. "So, in order to not let everyone look down on me, I wanted to hold my head up even more. Therefore, I..."
