Strings of Fate

Chapter 103

103- Move and miss

I glance around Bellamy’s office.

“Do you have more work to do today or are you free now?” I ask. Bellamy grimaces, pulling at hand through his hair.

like.” He

“I have a bit more to do. I definitely haven’t been as focussed today as I would like.”

admits.

“Eh, that’s fair. Why don’t you try and finish up and then we can make something easy for

dinner?” I suggest.

“Will you stay while I work?” Bellamy asks hopefully and I agree.

“Sure, why not?” I plop myself down in my recliner and lay it back as far as it goes. I then

start watching random videos on my phone. After a minute or so though I find myself in the notes app writing down ideas, pros and cons about the Alpha female role. I might not be

ready yet, but I can work on getting ready.

Bellamy finishes his work pretty fast and then we make cold meat sandwiches for dinner, neither of us feeling up to doing anything complicated. Megan eats out. I didn’t even realise she was going out but she must have left at the same time Darrien did earlier. Here’s hoping they’re getting dinner together. I mean obviously they’re out together, he’s her guard so he’s definitely there. But there’s a difference between him being there and them actually having dinner together. I decide to sus it out in the group

chat rather than messaging her directly. Sort of an attempt to find out what she’s doing without bluntly asking her.

COCK TALES

Ryann- Hey guys. Anything interesting to report this evening?

Harry- I’ve discovered that there are some pretty gross cocktails out there, particularly when the bartender is trying to make a drink that will convince me not to come back. Jokes on her. I have an iron stomach and annoying her is far too much fun.

103- Move and miss

Ryann- HAH that poor woman. I hope you tip well!

Megan- Seconded. Nothing too interesting to report on my end. Just having dinner with a friend. What about you Ry?

Harry- A friend? Who is this friend? Obviously not either of us so they can’t be that great.

Unless… is it a date?

Ryann- Just watching Bellamy work and having an easy dinner here. Although Harry I owe you an update. I have temporarily moved in with Bellamy and Megan.

Megan- With Darrien. Not a date though. At least I don’t think it is… Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Megan- And don’t think I don’t know what you just did Ryann. You might not have asked. yourself but you definitely prompted the interrogation. You’re not that sneaky.

Harry- You did WHAT?! How did that happen all of a sudden? Does this mean I can’t come over and build a fort with you again?

Megan- Nah, it means that we have a bigger space and more soldiers to man the fort that is assuming I’m invited too…

Ryann- Of course you’re invited Megan.

I then type out a summary of the events that transpired last night for Harry. He is appropriately sympathetic but still takes the chance to tease me about moving in with my boyfriend. Eventually I stop answering just to make the teasing stop.

“Megan is out on a non–date with Darrien.” I report to Bellamy in my best tattle tale voice. He laughs.

“A non date huh. We’ve been on a few of those I think. What exactly is the difference between a date and a non–date anyway? I’m a little unclear on that one.” I think for a moment before answering.

“Denial?” Bellamy smirks.

103- Move and miss

“Yeah that checks out.” He lets out a huge yawn which triggers one for me too.

“We definitely didn’t get enough sleep last night.” I manage to get out before yawning a second time. Now that I’ve started I can’t seem to stop. Bellamy nods tiredly. Without discussion we both make our way upstairs. Bellamy stops in the hallway right in front of his

door and turns to face me.

“You never said what you decided. Do you want to sleep somewhere else?” He offers, although the offer seems reluctant. I shake my head in response.

“I’ll stay with you.” I answer quietly, if he wasn’t holding his breath waiting for my response he might not have heard me. I’m so quiet. Staying with him might be awkward for a while, but it’s going to happen

eventually anyway. I might as well get the awkwardness over with now. Besides, I’m comfortable with him. Most of the time at least. Bellamy breathes out a sigh of relief.

“Oh thank goodness. I really wasn’t looking forward to having to try and sleep without you. You really have spoiled me.” He smiles happily and takes my hand, leading me into his room.

Tomorrow we should arrange a proper spot for your things. And you still haven’t told me if there’s anything you want me to get for you to make things more comfortable.” Bellamy rambles on about toiletries and rearranging his closet but I’m barely listening. We both take turns in the ensuite brushing our teeth and changing into pyjamas. Once again I end up in pyjama pants and one of Bellamy’s shirts. He didn’t ask me this time, but when I got my clothes out I found the top mysteriously returned to my bag and replaced with one of his. He got a raised eyebrow at that and he just gave a cheeky grin in response. Still, I wear it anyway. I don’t have the energy to even be concerned by the sleeping situation tonight. I’m exhausted. Even though I still got some sleep, last night was stressful and wore me out, and the meeting today was somehow tiring too. If Bellamy’s drooping eyes are anything to go by, he’s in the same boat. He climbs into bed and opens his arms to me. Without hesitation, I climb into his bed, crawl over to him and collapse into his arms. We lay still for a second then he groans.

“We didn’t get the light.” He sighs. He’s right. The lamp is on and neither of us can reach it without moving. Also I think the ensuite light is on too. Someone is going to have to stand up. I let out an identical groan.

103- Move and miss

“I’ll do it. If you move I’ll have to move anyway since I’m half on top of you.” With the kind of reluctance I imagine most people save for pulling out their own teeth, I stumble out of the bed and drag my feet across the floor to way back

turn off the ensuite light. I then make my to the bed, sit down and flick off the lamp before crawling back towards Bellamy, sliding my hands in front of me trying to work out where he is because I am completely blind in this darkness. Maybe I should have let him get the light afterall. He can see. My fingers brush against his hip. Somehow I’ve gotten a little turned around. I turn back towards where his head and arms should be and lay down. I sort of miss and end up on his chest more than in his arms. Bellamy chuckles and rolls me back into a more comfortable position.

“Thanks for getting that.” He mumbles out before burying his face in my hair. After that it takes about point oh one of a second for my eyes to fall closed.
