Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 844

Chapter 844

Chapter 844 Use Your Brain In The Future

Artemis narrowed his eyes slightly, and his gaze darkened.

“Who is it?” he asked, practically squeezing the words out through gritted teeth.

Holden gave a light cough, then replied with a chuckle, “Your father. Are you surprised? Did you expect

that?”

It was surprising indeed. In fact, the news stunned Artemis to the core.

A hint of shock flashed across his eyes, and the corners of his mouth twitched involuntarily.

He had speculated countless possibilities, even suspecting that there was a traitor among his close

confidants who had secretly rescued Sofie.

The only person he had not suspected was... his father!

Is he out of his mind? Why would he send someone to rescue Sofie? Any sane person wouldn't do

such a stupid thing!

“Are you sure you didn't misspeak and that I'm not hearing things?”

“I'm sure. Your father sent someone to sneak into the headquarters via Mortality Base and take Sofie

away. Since that person managed to pass through Mortality Base, it proves they're very familiar with

Tarragon's layout. I suspect that person to be a mole planted by Leo, the former leader of Tarragon, by

your father's side. Your father employed him, inadvertently playing into his hands, and ended up being

used by him.”

Artemis was so infuriated by the situation that he started laughing. What was that old, good-for-nothing

geezer doing, sticking his nose where it doesn't belong? Now look at what has happened. Sofie has

successfully gotten away!

“Okay, I understand. Stay at Tarragon and handle the aftermath. Be sure to eliminate the remnants

associated with Mr. Doyle and Sofie.”

After ending the call, Artemis abruptly raised his hand and hurled his phone against the wall opposite

him.

Turning sideways and propping her head on one hand, Bailey raised her eyebrows as she looked at

him. “Why are you so angry? Your father was worried I'd lose the will to live after Sofie died. That's why

he did such a foolish thing. But then again, even if he hadn't given the order, that person would've gone

to save her anyway.”

He lowered his head to look at her, and the anger in his eyes gradually dissipated. “Forget about it.

What's done is done. Even if we keep talking about it, what's the use?”

After saying that, he reached out to take Bailey's phone, pulled up Ken's number, and dialed it.

“Find out where my father is right now.”

At a certain farmhouse located in a small town, Gerald was standing on the steps and eyeing the black-

clad bodyguard kneeling on one knee in the center of the courtyard through narrowed eyes.

“What do you mean by that? What do you mean someone has gone missing?”

The bodyguard shuddered slightly, then steeled himself and said, “Damien has intentionally cut off all

contact with you. At present, we're unable to pinpoint his exact location. The only thing we can be

certain of is that he has already rescued Sofie.”

Crack!

Gerald crushed the glass in his hand. I'm not a fool. That b*stard cut off all contact with me after

rescuing Sofie, so that must mean there's more to this matter than meets the eye. Perhaps...

His face instantly twisted into a grimace as the thought of a certain possibility crossed his mind.

“Could it be that someone deliberately planted that b*stard by my side to keep an eye on me? Did I

play right into his hands by asking him to rescue Sofie?”

A cold sneer sounded from the doorway. Then, a voice dripping with undisguised disdain said,

“Congratulations, you guessed it right.”

Gerald found the voice incredibly familiar. It's definitely Artemis' voice!

With a look of surprise, he lifted his head and stared beyond the courtyard in disbelief.

He watched as a young couple walked in from outside. Judging by their figures, they should be my son

and daughter-in-law if I'm not mistaken. However, their faces don't match at all.

“W-Who are you?”

Artemis did not say a word. Instead, he headed straight for the living room.

When Bailey passed by Gerald, she halted in her tracks. Lowering her voice, she said, “Dad, it's us. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

This isn't a good place to talk. Let's talk inside.”

Gerald's body shook violently a few times. After standing still for a full minute, he finally snapped out of

his overwhelming joy. My son isn't dead? He's still alive? Haha! That's great! I've never been as happy

as I am at this moment in my entire life!

“Sure, okay. Let's go inside and chat. We'll talk inside.” As he mumbled to himself, he turned and

dashed into the house.

By the time he went inside, Artemis and Bailey had already removed the thin masks over their faces,

revealing their true appearances.

Gerald's knees buckled as he stared at their faces, and he almost fell to the ground.

Seeing that, Bailey hurriedly rushed over to support him. “Please don't kneel before us. There's no way

we can accept that. It's not right.”

Tears streamed down Gerald's face. Stretching out his arms and pushing her aside, he hurried toward

Artemis and embraced the latter tightly. “You brat. Not that you've grown up, you've gotten so full of

yourself that you even dare to do something as terrible as playing dead, huh?”

Artemis furrowed his brows, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes. Can this old geezer stop being so

cheesy? I'm already getting goosebumps all over.

“Do you still intend to have a proper conversation? If not, we'll be taking our leave.”

Gerald quickly let go of his son, then looked him up and down several times. Once he was certain that

Artemis was real, he let out a sigh of relief. “Haha! Good, good. I'm glad you're alive. That's great.”

Artemis snorted coldly and said, “I went to great lengths to lure Sofie into my trap. I almost had her right

where I wanted her, but you helped her get away. So, do you have her now?”

The joy on Gerald's face slowly faded, replaced by a look of deep regret and guilt.

“I was worried that if something were to happen to Sofie, Bay would lose her will to live. How could we

stand by idly and watch her give up on life? To ensure she stayed alive, I had no choice but to send

someone to save Sofie. Initially, I thought that if that woman fell into my hands, she wouldn't be able to

stir up any trouble. However, how could I have known that the person I sent turned out to be a spy who

would end up making a run for it with Sofie? All right. I admit I acted foolishly this time.”

Artemis shot him an icy glare with contempt etched across his face. “You're old, so just stay at home

and rest. Don't come out and cause trouble for me.”

After getting admonished by Artemis, Gerald dared not utter a word, and the former proceeded to

reprimand him severely again.

Finally, Bailey could not bear it any longer and quickly interjected, “That person was a spy Leo planted

by your father's side. He already intended to save Sofie. Even if your father hadn't sent him, he

would've taken action of his own accord. So, regardless of whether your father gave the order or not,

she would've escaped unharmed. She wasn't fated to die this time, so let's not force the issue. She

barely managed to stay alive this time after losing all of her powers. The next time we corner her again,

she might not be so lucky.”

Artemis snorted coldly again before saying to Gerald rather brusquely, “Use your brains a bit more

when you do things in the future, you old geezer.”

Rendered speechless, Gerald could only helplessly respond with a bitter smile.

Bailey glared at Artemis, then turned to Gerald and said, “You don't need to blame yourself. He's just a

bit stubborn. He has been more anxious than anyone else after learning that your subordinate is a spy

sent by Leo, fearing that you might fall into the hands of your enemies. No sooner had he gotten to the

bottom of the matter than he instructed Ken to track your whereabouts and personally rushed over to

protect you.”
