Chapter 189
Chapter 189
After he had spoken, he stood up, took his wife by the hand, and led her back to the office.
Mia didn't want to step foot in the study. But if she didn't, her husband would chew her out in public.
Rather than that, she'd prefer to close the door, let him criticize her in private, where she might have a
chance to plead with him.
At this moment, she didn't feel tough at all.
...
In the following days, Mia was the center of attention at school, being chauffeured back and forth.
Her husband, Andre, would occasionally flip through her book a few times when he had nothing to do.
He felt somewhat uncomfortable when he noticed that there were no drawings of his wife in it.
The most peculiar one was Jade. Every day, she would arrive punctually at the classroom. When she
left, either Chad would pick her up personally, or Coleen, or the Byrne family's driver.
Jade asked Mia, "Why has your husband been so attentive to you recently?"
"Because I drew his picture into a pig's head, he found out and as punishment, he's been dropping me
off and picking me up from school every day, letting everyone know that he's my husband."
Mia asked back, "Why have you been so busy lately, Jade?"
"Because my brother and my mom said that there's a serial killer on the loose in Havenbrook who
targets pretty girls. My brother says I'm too pretty and I'm definitely the killer's target, so my dad, mom,
brother, and driver are taking turns picking me up."
Mia nodded.
Leo had already started to review old knowledge in preparation for the upcoming exams.
The weather had turned cold. In the classroom, students kept the windows closed, so the classroom
felt a bit stuffy. Many students would come to the classroom to nap on their desks after lunch, while
others would study.
"Mia, where did Leo go?" Jade was the first to realize that Leo was missing.
Mia turned around and said, "Yeah, where did he go? It's so cold outside, and his coat is still on his
desk."
The classroom was very quiet. Mia and Jade stood up and quietly left the classroom to call Leo. They
called once, but nobody answered.
The second time, Leo answered the phone, "Back door of the school, alley, need help."
After he'd spoken, the phone dropped to the ground. Mia could still hear a woman crying and shouting:
stop hitting him. Mia and Jade looked at each other and immediately ran towards the back door of the
school.
When they arrived, they saw a woman crying and shouting for the men to stop. Leo was on the ground,
with seven men kicking and punching him, and another man with an injured face sitting to the side,
pointing at Leo on the ground and cursing, "Kill him, he meddled in my business. He's asking for it."
Seeing Leo being beaten, Mia was furious. She gritted her teeth, "You think I won't fight back if you
mess with him!"
Seeing Leo being beaten, Jade felt heartbroken and very angry. "You deal with the guys beating up
Leo, I'll take care of Leo."
Mia clenched her fists and charged into the crowd. Although Leo was like a lackey to Mia and Jade,
always being bullied by them, he was also like their little brother who they needed to protect.
Outside, no one dared to bully Leo except Mia and Jade. This time, some thugs actually dared to bully
Leo under their watch.
In elementary school, when someone saw Mia ordering Leo around, they also wanted to bully Leo,
making him do their homework and clean. But before Leo could react, Mia found out about it and got
angry. In the classroom, in front of everyone, she fought with the girl who wanted to bully Leo. The girl
didn't even have a chance to fight back, completely suppressed by Mia.
Her every punch landed on the girl, which soon caught the attention of the parents.
Even though Mia was criticized by the teachers and parents, no one in the class dared to bully Leo
again.
Later, as they grew older, some people liked Jade, and Jade was particularly fond of Leo, which led the
classmates to mistakenly think she liked Leo. They even threatened to find someone to beat up Leo at
the back door of the school and ruin his face.
After school, Jade brought her brother and a group of police school students to the scene and defeated
those people.
During Leo's school years, other than being oppressed by these two girls, everything else went
smoothly.
Mia rushed into the crowd and directly started fighting with those people.
Jade couldn't fight, she bent down to dodge those people to prevent herself from getting hurt. She
walked over to Leo, crouched down to check his injured face and head. The sleeves of Leo's blue
sweater were all marked up from the kicks.
Jade held Leo's head tenderly, looking at the injury on his head. Her tears were almost falling. "Leo,
can you get up?"
With great difficulty, Leo got up from the ground. He was helped by Jade to escape from the chaotic
crowd.
There were sticks lying by the wall that those people had used to beat him. Leo picked one up, turned
around and shouted to Mia, "Mia, catch!"
He threw it towards Mia.
Their friendship of over ten years wasn't fake. Mia instinctively turned around, raised her hand, and
caught the stick that Leo had thrown.
Now, she didn't need to use her hands to fight. The stick in her hand, as if imbued with life, followed the
movement of her wrist.
The reason those men were able to beat Leo was simply because they outnumbered him. They
actually hadn't undergone any systematic training, they were no match for Mia at all. With one swing of
the stick, Mia knocked a grown man unconscious. He slumped to the ground. Mia turned around and
hit another man in the back of the head with the stick.
...
Leo was pulled out of the chaotic crowd by Jade. The girl who had been crying earlier hurried over. She
wanted to help Leo and check his injuries.
"Did you call the police?" Jade asked.
Leo looked at the girl, waiting for her answer.
The crying girl shook her head, "I forgot."
Leo was angry, "Didn't I tell you to call the police?"
"I saw you being beaten, and I forgot."
Jade took out her phone and called her brother, "Chad, I'm in trouble again."
"Where are you?" Chad's temples started throbbing.
Jade looked at the narrow alley and the people lying on the ground. "You don’t need to come to the
crime scene anymore, just go directly to the hospital, we'll meet there."
Mia looked at the eight men lying on the ground, her breathing quickened, she was starting to feel tired.
If it wasn't for the stick that Leo had thrown her, she wouldn't have been able to defeat these men so
quickly.
"Jade, call an ambulance."
Jade had already dialed the emergency number.
Cedillo Inc.'s top brass, Noah, stormed into the office in a fluster. He quickly briefed, "Mr. Cedillo, Leo
got jumped, your wife threw some punches, and Jade was there too."
Andre, "What?"
Noah went on to explain in detail, "Leo got jumped by a bunch of guys. Your wife came to his rescue,
but she went a little overboard and landed someone in the hospital. By the time the ambulance arrived,
Jade had given the guys who attacked Leo another kick for good measure."Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
