Chapter 248
Chapter 248
"Yeah, that's her." Brian said.
The old man on the sofa chuckled, "A little girl is getting you this worked up, she's got me curious now."
Brian cringed, at a loss for words on how to explain to his boss the talent this "little girl" had for getting
under his skin.
Brian hadn't come to discuss Mia. He needed his boss's help to resolve a dilemma, "Boss, how can I
solve the Marshal Group's predicament?"
"In five days, Harry will be throwing a birthday bash. That could be your chance." The Boss said.
Brian rose, "Thanks for the advice, boss."
Brian didn't sleep at all that day. Meanwhile, Mia had been sleeping all day. By the time she woke up, it
was already afternoon.
Mia lay in bed, the blanket wrapped around her petite figure. She had one arm exposed, her hand
absently caressing the blanket until it found her phone. She picked it up and checked the time, "It's
already three in the afternoon."
Mia sighed and tossed her phone onto the bed, pulling the blanket over her face. Underneath the
covers, she muttered non-stop, cursing at and blaming Andre, and even fantasizing about giving him a
good beating.
Meanwhile at work, Andre finished a meeting and checked the time. He figured Mia was probably
awake by now. So, Andre gave her a call. The first call was hung up on, the second time, the phone
was switched off.
Andre looked at his phone and said, indulgently, "Young girl with a big temper."
He wasn't angry, instead, he put down his phone, deciding to head home early to keep her company.
He looked at his evening schedule and cancelled any unnecessary engagements.
By six, he was out of the office.
In the Cedillo family.
Mia sat on the couch with legs curling up. Her hair was a mess, looking like she just woke up. When
Andre got home, she only gave him a quick glance.
Andre sat down next to her, and she got up and sat next to Hansen. Hansen's eyes darted back and
forth between the two. He wondered, “what's up with this couple?”
To avoid any trouble, he moved to sit next to his grandson. Andre got up and sat in Hansen's previous
spot. Mia got up again and moved to sit between Hansen and Leo.
Seeing this, the grandfather and grandson realized something was off. Leo, sensing danger, called out
to Hansen, "Grandpa, we should leave."
The two rose simultaneously, no longer staying in the living room.
Now it was just the couple. Andre sat back down next to her and before she could get up again, he
pulled her into his arms. He asked indulgently, "Mia, are you mad at me again?"
Mia replied angrily, "Isn't it obvious?"
Andre chuckled and tousled her hair, "I cancelled my appointments today to be with you."
"Isn’t it natural for a husband spending time with his wife? Do you want me to praise you for that? If you
don't want to be with me, I can find someone else to be my husband." Mia said.
Andre said, "You're talking nonsense." Of course, he should be the one to be with his wife.
Andre, holding her, asked, "What time did you get up?"
"I woke up at three, got up at four. Left the house at five. It's not even six yet." Mia's tone was full of
complaint as she grumbled to her husband, "When I went out, everyone was staring at me. I felt so
embarrassed."
Andre started promoting his Maplewood Estates, "Want to move out? At Maplewood Estates you can
stay home all day, no one will bother you. Plus, Maplewood Estates is our home. It's totally ours. The
scenery there is even more beautiful, the air is fresher, and the amenities are great. It's also close to
the Irvin family."
Mia shook her head, not persuaded.
Andre suggested, "How about I take you to have a look first, then we decide?"
Mia shook her head again, "I'm not going." Mia was mad right now and didn't want to listen to anything
her husband said.
Andre gave up on trying to persuade her.
At dinner, Andre casually mentioned their plan to move back to Maplewood Estates. As it turned out,
everyone in the family, except Leo, was against their plan.
Hansen said, "If you want to go back, go yourself. We can keep Mia here."
Naomi asked, "Why do you want to move out when everything's fine here?"
Bruce also said, "Christmas is coming soon, and it's too much hassle to move. Let's just stay here."
Naomi added, "Now that Molly's back too. She and Mia are good friends. If Mia moves, Molly will
definitely leave too."
Hansen nodded in agreement.
Andre said, "Molly still has Leo as a friend."
Naomi looked at her son and shook her head disapprovingly. Leo was puzzled, "Mom, what do you
mean? You glance at me and then shake your head. If you have something to say, just spill it out."
Naomi said, "I don't want to upset you."
Leo was speechless.
Before Mia could say anything, the entire family had already disagreed with her moving. She was really
popular in the Cedillo family. Andre had no choice but to think of another plan.
In the evening, Hansen received a voice message from Harry, "I'm having a birthday party on Friday,
bring Bruce, Naomi, Andre, your adorable daughter-in-law, Leo, and don’t forget your daughter."
Hansen sent a voice message back, holding the phone up to his face, pressing the button, and said,
"Andre's wife's name is Mia."
Harry sent another voice message, chatting like old friends, "I'm really curious about your daughter-in-
law. No matter what, she has to come on Friday."
Hansen agreed. He started to head out to tell Mia about it. NôvelDrama.Org © content.
Just as the couple was about to go to bed, there was a knock on the door. Mia looked at Andre,
"Sweetie, who is it?"
She was still in her camisole nightgown, with a bit of cleavage showing, not exactly in a position to
answer the door.
Andre wouldn't let her go, "I'll get it."
He closed his book, placed it on the bed, got up and opened the door.
Standing in the doorway was Hansen.
"Where's Mia?" Hansen asked.
Andre replied, "She's asleep, what's up?"
Hansen said, "She's an early bird. Oh, by the way, Harry's throwing a shindig this Friday. Let Mia know
and if you guys are free, we can all go."
Andre nodded, "I'll run it by her."
As Hansen left, he mumbled, "Sleeps in till the afternoon, hits the hay before nine, why do youngsters
love their beauty sleep so much these days?"
Door closed.
Andre approached the bed where Mia lay, her eyes brimming with life, "Did you hear?"
Mia nodded.
"Want to go?" Andre asked.
Mia shook her head, "Not really in the mood."
Andre didn't push her, "I'll let my dad know tomorrow."
The next day, upon hearing that Mia didn't want to attend the party, Hansen was in a tizzy. If Mia didn't
go, how was he supposed to show off his daughter-in-law to his old buddies? He was hell-bent on
getting Mia to go.
While Andre was at work, Hansen sought out Mia, "Mia, why won't you accompany me to the party?"
Mia replied, "I've never been to such a party. I'm afraid I'll make a fool of myself." She explained that
back home, whenever there was a party, her dad would always take her mom, not her.
The truth was, Mia had never been to a party.
Hansen was touched by Mia's honesty, thinking what a sincere kid she was, "No worries, I'll be with
you, we won't embarrass ourselves."
But Mia still shook her head.
In the end, Hansen had to play a little dirty, "Your love rival will be there too."
