Chapter 280
Chapter 280
Coleen was so pissed off she took some medicine while sitting on the bed, "This is your home, always
will be. If anyone dares to insult you again, kick them out."
"I got it, mom, don't get mad." Molly said.
Molly noticed her mother taking some pills and curiously asked, "Mom, what's wrong? Why are you
taking pills?"
Coleen glanced at her, "Nothing, it's just some vitamins."
Molly believed her and didn't ask further.
Downstairs, Mr. Kendrick's sister was still making a fuss. Later, her parents stood up and spoke for
justice, "This is your brother's house, and we're just staying here temporarily. How dare you claim it as
your own? Molly is our granddaughter. How can you deny she's your niece? If you don't acknowledge
this niece, you might as well disown us as parents. After all, we'll always acknowledge this
granddaughter. Arguing with a child is really beneath you.”
Vivian quickly stepped in to mediate, "Grandpa, grandma, my mom just has a bit of a temper. She's just
too attached to this house. Please understand."
Mr. Kendrick said to his son, "Chad, it's late now. You should take them back to the hotel."
Chad responded, grabbing his car keys, "Let's go."
With Mr. Kendrick stepping in, Walter naturally had no reason to stay, he left with his wife.
Vivian quickly followed Chad, apologizing in a seemingly gentle and reasonable manner, "I'm sorry,
Chad, and please apologize to Molly for me. We didn't mean it."
Chad replied, "I have nothing to do with you so I'm not in a position to apologize for you. And, knowing
my sister, she's not the type to accept apologies."
In Molly's words, “If apologies were effective, what would we need the police for?” So, she only
accepted apologies from Chad, because he was a cop.
The family got into Chad's car. He drove them to the hotel. On the way, Mr. Kendrick's sister still had
something to say to Chad, "Chad, don't let your guard down. She's changed her name to Molly now,
and she might not care about our family anymore. Go back and tell your parents to keep an eye on the
valuables in the house."
Chad responded, "The most valuable thing in my house is Molly. She can't be watched over. She's like
a little monkey, always stirring trouble for me to handle. The last time someone pissed her off, she
stabbed them with a knife. You'd better not make her angry. I worry one day she might take a swing at
you."
The car fell silent. That was exactly the effect Chad wanted.
Vivian said, "Chad, what Molly did is illegal, isn't it? Why wasn't she arrested? Did you..."
Chad answered, "We settled it with money. They didn't press charges. The man was so scared by her,
he left Havenbrook and never dared to show up again."
For the rest of the trip, they kept quiet, not mentioning Molly again.
After dropping the four of them at the hotel, he said, "I've booked the rooms, and you can check in at
the front desk. I need to head home."
With that, he didn't even get out of the car, just drove off.
Finally, there was peace at home. Mr. Kendrick went upstairs to see his wife and daughter in the
bedroom. He sat down on the bed, put his arm around his wife and said, "I've sent them away. Don't This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
get mad anymore."
"Don't touch me." Coleen pushed away her husband's hand in anger.
Mr. Kendrick didn't mind losing face in front of his daughter, he said to her, "Molly, don't take her words
to heart. We're family, they're outsiders."
Then, Mr. Kendrick added, "But, she's still your grandparents' daughter, my sister who I grew up with.
Please don't be mad at her. It would upset your grandparents if you two fought, especially since we
only see each other once or twice a year. Her husband's family is not doing well, they're struggling, so
try to have some patience."
"Oh, I see." Molly said to her father, "I'll try to behave."
Mr. Kendrick was momentarily lost for words. Coleen, on the other hand, was amused by her
daughter's words, knowing that she hadn't forgiven those who argued with her.
"Alright, enough talk, go find your grandparents. Give me and your mom some space. I need to calm
her down." Mr. Kendrick said.
"I get it. I'm the third wheel here, I'll leave." Molly said.
She went out to find her grandmother who loved wearing floral dresses and her grandfather who had
just recovered from a sickness.
When Chad returned, he went straight to his grandparents' room to find his sister.
"Hey, Chad, did you have fun sending Vivian?" Molly didn't even realize her words were a bit sarcastic.
Chad replied, "It was not fun without you." Hearing that, Molly's mood immediately improved.
By evening, the Byrne family started to gather.
Everyone started preparing for dinner, even Grandpa Elmer pitched in. He made pizza.
Molly's favorite, she sneaked a bite and complimented Grandpa Elmer, "Grandpa, your pizza is so
yummy."
Grandma Aubree also showed off her skills with a shrimp cocktail, "Molly, have a taste of my cooking."
Molly took a bite, "Grandma, your cooking is top-notch. It would be a waste if you didn't open a
restaurant."
The grandparents of the Byrne family were all smiles.
Chad's dish was also placed on the table, after trying it, Molly commented, "Brother, your future wife is
so lucky."
Chad gave her a look and chuckled helplessly.
She praised everyone's cooking one by one. Finally, Coleen asked her daughter with a smile, "What's
your specialty dish?"
"My specialty is eating. Didn't you hear me praising everyone's cooking just now." Molly said.
Later, Grandma Aubree went back to the kitchen and made a few more dishes, thus a lavish dinner
began.
There was laughter and chatter at the dinner table. Everyone was enjoying the meal, the conversation,
and the company.
Grandma Aubree, being a mother, also had her daughter on her mind. She casually asked, "Wonder
what they're having for dinner tonight."
Chad said, "No worries, Granny. I've already spoken with the hotel staff. They will arrange dinner for
them."
"Alright then." Grandma Aubree said.
After dinner, Molly cleaned up the dishes and the dining table all by herself.
Coleen complained that her daughter couldn't cook at all and if she didn't learn to clean up, no one
might want to marry her in the future.
Chad joked, "If no one wants to marry her, we'll just keep supporting her. We can afford it."
"Exactly." Molly, who was busy cleaning, immediately seized the opportunity to show herself off.
After she finished cleaning, Molly sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, chatting with her friends on her
phone, "Mia, I had a fight with someone again today. It was my dad's sister, I mentioned her to you
when we were kids, remember?"
No one answered.
"Mia?" Molly asked.
Still no reply.
Molly glanced at the time, "It's not even eight o'clock yet."
