Chapter 309
Chapter 309
Half an hour later, Andre showed up in the Irvin family's living room.
He sat face to face with Cooper, with Mia sticking close to him, taking the initiative to place her hand in
his.
Cooper was seriously ticked off by his sister's behavior. A woman who, during her nighttime stroll,
either sought hugs or kisses from men, was now acting all lovey-dovey with Andre in front of their
parents.
She was even reaching out to hold his hand now. Didn't she realize it made her come off as overly
eager?
"Cooper, he's your brother-in-law,. Show some respect. I am his wife, if you two butt heads, I am gonna
side with him." Mia tried to put on a tough front to intimidate her little brother, but her tone gave away
her genuine concern for his feelings.
Andre wasn't peeved by Cooper's attitude. After all, his hostility was due to his deep affection for his
sister. He initially felt a bit uncomfortable, but then he figured that if someone were to marry Molly, he'd
probably react the same way as a protective older brother. He understood Cooper's actions, so he
simply waited for him to accept him.
Mia snuggled up to her husband, holding his hand with one hand and his arm with the other, all the
while giving Cooper meaningful glances.
Seeing his sister fawning over Andre, Cooper pointed at Mia and said, "Dumbass."
Before Cooper came back, Mia was the one who could call others names, but after her brother's return,
she became the one getting called names.
Mia retorted, "You can call me names, but not my husband."
Aaron, worried that a squabble might break out in the living room, quickly ushered his son away for a
pep talk. Mia, afraid that her husband might be humiliated in the living room, pulled him back to their
bedroom.
Once the door was closed, she finally confessed, "I've never been this tense, even during exams. You
wouldn't believe how terrifying he looks chopping meat; he really freaked me out."
Andre looked at his wife, who was putting on a pitiful act, "He scared you? Didn't you give him a piece
of your mind?"
"Do I look like someone who'd resort to violence? I'm a scaredy-cat, I wouldn't dare to confront
Cooper." Mia said.
Andre was skeptical, if she wasn't one to resort to violence, how did they find out she was pregnant?
Mia realized her words weren't convincing. She admitted honestly, "He had a knife in his hands, so I
didn't dare to make a move. Plus, what if I had hurt the baby? Being pregnant really isn't a walk in the
park, I don't wanna go through it again." She subtly hinted to Andre that she didn't want any nighttime
activities with him.
Just as they were having their private chat inside the room, the door suddenly burst open. Cooper
looked at the couple, "It's broad daylight. Why the hell are you closing the door?"
Mia was speechless.
After that, the door was never closed again. However, there was always a guy holding a baseball bat,
pacing back and forth at the door.
Cooper went back and forth at the door more than twenty times, wielding his baseball bat all the while.
Mia sat at the end of the bed, looking at her husband, "Honey, are you scared?"
"I'm not scared." Andre said.
"But I am." Mia said.
Andre gently pinched his wife's cheek, "As long as Cooper blows off some steam, it'll be fine."
Mia felt guilty, "But in reality, I was the one who kept the truth from Cooper, and you're the one bearing
the brunt of his anger."
Andre was a pro at comforting his wife, "Just think of it as me having to go through the tribulations I NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
should have faced in the past. Our marriage process was too smooth; I owed Cooper a face-to-face
communication opportunity, and now I'm giving it back to him. The order was just messed up. Now that
you're pregnant, you just need to be a happy and adorable mom-to-be. I don't feel wronged or angry
about what I'm going through. I believe Cooper will eventually accept me, and it won't take too long."
Cooper, pacing back and forth at the door, was taken aback by Andre's words. He wasn't mad at him.
He wasn't sure if it was heartfelt or just sweet talk to appease his sister.
Mia was deeply touched anyway. She wrapped her arms around her husband's neck, leaned in, and
kissed his lips, "Honey, I love you."
"What the hell are you doing!" Cooper barged into the room and separated them, "What if you guys
have mouth ulcers? You'd be spreading it to each other!"
"I don't have mouth ulcers." Mia looked at her husband, "Do you?"
Andre shook his head.
Cooper said, "If you guys keep kissing, you'll get it." With that, he separated them.
"Cooper, can we have a private chat?" Andre took the initiative to call out to Cooper.
Cooper turned to look at Andre, "I have nothing to talk about with you."
"We won't talk about your sister, just your studies. I won't talk to you as your brother-in-law, just as
Andre." Andre said.
Cooper hesitated. Mia sensed her brother's mood. She suddenly had an idea and suggested, "Honey,
don't talk too long with him. What if he doesn't want to study abroad, and he convinces you? My
parents really value your opinion now."
Cooper said, "Sis, can you stop with the drama?"
Andre lowered his head and chuckled indulgently. He gently pinched Mia's nose, saying, "Go take a
rest. I'll step out for a bit."
He walked past Cooper and said, "I'll be waiting outside." With that, Andre left the room.
Cooper pointed his baseball bat at the bed, telling his sister, "You better get some sleep. After all, the
baby in your belly needs to sleep too!"
Mia was so scared in her own room that she dared not step out. Mia was helpless. If it weren't for her
pregnancy, her little brother wouldn't stand a chance against her. The sacrifices a mother could make
for her child were indeed great!
Outside, Andre stood at the gate of the Irvin family's house. Not far away was a lawn where he often
took walks with Mia. It was a pretty peaceful spot, perfect for a chat.
When Cooper saw Andre standing at the door, he hesitated for a moment, left his bat at the entrance,
and then stepped out.
Andre didn't butter him up. Seeing Cooper appear, he said, "Let's go."
He walked ahead, with Cooper following behind. Cooper said, "Let's talk about my sister first. I didn't
know anything about you two getting married, Andre. Honestly, I don't think my sister is a good match.
You're a big shot, and we're just running small businesses, barely surviving. My sister is plain Jane;
she's not some fancy heiress. The people you deal with every day are on a totally different level than
her. Career-wise, she can't give you any help, and at home, she’s not good at housework either.
Besides carrying babies for you, I bet she wouldn't even know how to take care of them. Our family
backgrounds and social standings just don't jive, and you two don't seem to have much common
ground. You might be all googly-eyed over her youth and beauty now, but give it a few years, if her
looks go south and she gets a chip on her shoulder, you might lose interest. I'm not trying to against
you or put down my sister, I just gotta speak my mind. You two just aren't cut out for each other. You're
a go-getter and she's kinda lazy. You're a workaholic and she's a party animal. I just can't see you two
living happily ever after. I trust you could get what I mean."
