Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 222

Chapter 222

Kevan continued reassuring her, saying, “Our marriage will remain confidential and will only be revealed to our respective families. We can terminate it anytime if you have any issues with my family.”

Larissa no longer hesitated and replied, “Deal!”

New Year’s Day was a public holiday, and naturally, the City Hall was closed. However, Kevan somehow managed to find a way to expedite their marriage registration on that day. While Larissa was quite comfortable throughout the whole process since she had been through it before, Kevan was the “novice” and was overly nervous.

The photographer even had to remind him multiple times to relax his stiff smile during the photo session. In the end, they could only select one photo where Kevan looked relatively natural from

the dozen or so shots taken.

Once they received the marriage certificate, she briefly glanced at it and casually slipped it into her backpack. On the other hand, he stared at their wedding photo for a long time, even gently caressing the edges of the photo with his fingers. Somehow, he couldn’t suppress his smile, Nonetheless, Larissa thought he was simply amused and didn’t read too much into his action.

“I’ll drive.” She asked for the car keys and teased, Just so you can have more time staring at it.”

“Sure,” he simply replied without a hint of embarrassment showing on his face for being caught red– handed. He then went and sat in the passenger seat. He held the marriage certificate and looked at it repeatedly, even taking a photo with his phone to show off to Dylan

Dylan quickly replied, “Congratulations! You’ve finally achieved your dream after so many years,

Kevan pursed his lips and subtly glanced at Larissa, who was oblivious to his conversation with Dylan. Only then did he feel at ease and reply to the message, “Uh–huh.”

“Do you want to have dinner together tonight?” Dylan asked.

“No.” Kevan gripped his phone tightly as he wanted to slow down his racing heartbeat. “I have other plans.” All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

Hence, Dylan sent a few mischievous smiley emojis, and Kevan knew that his friend was probably overthinking but couldn’t be bothered to explain. He simply put his phone back in his pocket.

Larissa pressed the number “19” when she and Kevan entered the elevator and even considerately pressed “20” for him, yet, he reached out and canceled the “20” button.

“Hmm?” She looked up at him in confusion. He remained expressionless as he replied, “You’re

moving.

“Moving? What do you mean?” She became even more puzzled.

Hence, he shook the marriage certificate in his hand. “We are already married, so we should live together.”

“There’s no need for that,” Larissa frowned. “No one from the Seymour family will know even if we don’t live together.”

Since there was only one household on each floor, as long as she didn’t ride the elevator with anyone else, no one would know which floor she was going to

“Did you forget that Lana also lives in this building?” Kevan reminded her. “What if she comes looking for you?”

She was momentarily stumped by his question, Lana was indeed a big troublemaker.

He continued tempting her, saying. “You can also save the monthly rent if you move in with me.”

The 3,000 dollars monthly rent wasn’t a significant expense for her, so that didn’t quite sway her. Rather, Lana was more of a concern to her. This time, they had a major conflict but didn’t completely sever their relationship.

Based on Lana’s past behavior, it wouldn’t be long before Lana came to her, apologizing and begging for forgiveness while crying. Larissa’s head started to ache just thinking about it. If she had known this would happen, she should have made it clear when she left the Seymour family that she would have nothing to do with Lana in the future
