Ruby sniffled and sobord for a while before she slowly recovered. They entered the house together and Kevan poured her a glass of warm water. He sat next to her, with only a few inches al space between them. Ruby was still trembling, a lew droplets of tears still clinging to her eyelashes. She picked up the glass and look a little sip.

Kevan went along with her and gave a noise of acknowledgment. “I have a few other houses I bought as an investment. TII take you to have a look tomorrow, and you can pick whichever one you like.”

Kevan stroked her hair and said, “I have work so I cant possibly accompany you all the time. If you re truly afraid, I can find a trusted bodyguard for you, and make sure that she shadows you at all times.”
“I don’t want a bodyguard! I only want you” Ruby got more and more agitated as she buried her lace into his chest shouling. “I only trust you! You’re the only one Cody can’t briber
“Ruby, listen to me.” Kevan’s voice became a little stem.
Ruby stiffened but slowly stopped crying. She did not leave his arms though
“I cannot possibly abandon my job for you. Desides, a professional bodyguard would be able to protect you better than I can. Kevan rasoned with her.
Ruby immediately changed lack. “Okay, I want the bodyguard. Out” She lifted her tear–stained cheeks and gazed at him with hopeful eyes. “Can you come and accompany me to work?”
Kevan was silent for two seconds. “Okay,” he sad.
Ruby smiled through her lears. “You’re still the best to me, Kevan!”
Kevan smiled. “Of course,”
Ruby gazed at him intensely, before her smile vanished all of a sudden. It was as if she had made a big decision as her eyes became determined, and she straightened up abruptly, closing her eyes to kiss Kevan on the lips.
