Can you come over and accompany me?”
“Im afraid not,” Kevan said.
Larissa’s movements in toying with her pasta paused. His answer actually surprised her.
“My mom saw that news too.” Kevan’s gaze swept past Larissa’s expressionless face before looking away. “She came over to find me today. So I probably won’t be able to see you for some time.” His voice was gentle with a hint of regret.
Ruby asked in shock and surprise, “Then what about me? Kevan, if I can’t see you, I won’t be able to sleep from fear!”
“My apologies.” Kevan was not moved. “I can’t ignore my mom.”

Ruby was silent for two minutes before she compromised. “Alright. Then She raised a solution to her conundrum. “Can I video call you every night?”
Kevan agreed to it easily. “Sure.”
